That works if they don't compete internationally this year. If they do, they won't qualify, because they've already returned.
I don't see any reason to believe they won't meet the GP minimum score if they do compete internationally this year. And, based on which teams were assigned 2 GPs out of the gate this year, I'm pretty confident that if they can go out and score 160+ at a Challenger or an ISU Championship they would get 2 next season right out of the gate. Zukova/Bidar, McIntosh/Mimar & Smirnova/Siianytsia were in the 156-159 range and they all received 2 assignments on the initial list. They are much better off competing at Golden Spin and getting the 4CCs or Worlds TES mins and then aiming to improve their score at one or both of those competitions after they've had more training time.
For those who haven't - if you click on replies to this tweet you'll see that the replies are the second half of the FP, and then the slo mo and reaction to scores. They were pretty pleased, as they should have been.
While they show a lot of promise, they would never get those levels at an international competition, nor would they get scores anywhere close to the "home cooking" ones the local judges gave them. I did a double take when I saw their FS score.
I agree, they did seem cautious. Rightly so being a new team and lack of competing the past few years. Her jumps are solid, looks like she may push him to expand his. Now it’s just to see if she will choose her singles over pairs or put full focus on pairs, putting full focus on pairs they have potential IMO.
I think it is possible that both could have one by then - but consistency is always an issue with that element even for the best teams.
Lia was a pair girl for a season I wonder if she had a triple throw with the last partner?

Nope. Seguin/Bilodeau won Skate America in 2016.
Nic Nadeau was a charismatic, entertaining skater when he competed in singles and people are excited to see him return to the ice. It's not any kind of a slight against Pereira/Michaud. Realistically it's foolish to compare the two teams at this point, with Proft/Nadeau both being new to the discipline and in the process of recovering from injury. Personally I'm just thrilled to see the pair numbers growing, and beyond excited to follow the progress of both teams.

I think it is Yvan Desjardins...Nadeau's singles coach & a woman I could not recognize going by the Kiss n Cry for Proft&Nadeau. He does pairs as well... Lubov has been around their rink as well although I have seen no pics of her there recently.

Their throw jumps are up there with best of all Canadian teams and their triple twist is excellent. Still lots of growth to come as well but very promising.
That family has steely competitive determination - if only we could bottle it & give it to the men.
