Mission accomplishedWell done, Kaiya, for earning Canada two spots for next year's Junior Worlds
And to think she didn't even qualify for the free skate at 2020 Juniors Worlds. She's come a long way!Mission accomplished
She certainly has...especially after being out with such a serious injury for so long. Best to her for a great healthy 2023/24And to think she didn't even qualify for the free skate at 2020 Juniors Worlds. She's come a long way!

No doubt - and it will likely be filled by Kaiya Ruiter unless Schizas decides to focus explicitly on skating and gets better choreography.Sigh. Schizas' short was so frustrating. She's about 5 1/2 points out of the top 10 but imagine if she had been clean. There are so many good skaters in this field it's going to be hard to move up. I'm resigned to Canada having only one spot at Montreal worlds next year![]()
"Likely" is a bit much at this juncture, I would say. Ruiter has yet to ever beat Schizas head-to-head.No doubt - and it will likely be filled by Kaiya Ruiter unless Schizas decides to focus explicitly on skating and gets better choreography.
Agreed, I don't think Schizas or Ruiter have reached their potential yet, Ruiter’s way forward is much simpler though at present she is lazer focused and has a fabulous coach. Schizas has decisions and priorities to figure out. Next season will be interesting."Likely" is a bit much at this juncture, I would say. Ruiter has yet to ever beat Schizas head-to-head.
I think it might take someone other then Schizas to get that 2nd spot unless things change.Sigh. Schizas' short was so frustrating. I'm not sure where the narrative that Schizas isn't focusing on skating came from.Agreed, I don't think Schizas or Ruiter have reached their potential yet, Ruiter’s way forward is much simpler though at present she is lazer focused and has a fabulous coach. I didn’t say she wasn’t focused? I know I was the parent of a national athlete who did school and sport. The reality is she has not improved in her consistency. So something has to change. What that might be I’m not sure? That’s for Maddie and her team to figure out.I'm not sure where the narrative that Schizas isn't focusing on skating came from.
She is attending university, but she was last season as well, and it's not unusual for elite athletes to attend school while competing.
