I hope Dupuis will get the spot. And I hope they will send Bombardier to world team trophy to get an isu season best score. I mean assuming Canada has qualified for it lol

There's a thought. Skate Canada officials, get on this.I hope Dupuis will get the spot. And I hope they will send Bombardier to world team trophy to get an isu season best score. I mean assuming Canada has qualified for it lol

That's not a bad idea, especially if they send Ruiter to both 4CCs and Jr Worlds. Give Bombardier the WTT spot as a consolation. I'd forgotten that counts for the SB Top 75.There's a thought. Skate Canada officials, get on this.
Daleman went in 2013 after her first year in senior so there is precedent. There's a thought. Skate Canada officials, get on this.
Yes, but she was also second at Nationals that year IIRC so there was no drama in leaving someone like Lacoste off the team-- especially after the Nationals medal ceremony debacle where she lost a medal last-minute as it was.Daleman went in 2013 after her first year in senior so there is precedent.
I give A+ to Fiona for her dedication and big jumps but she is rarely on a straight axis and that will never help her GOE. I thought she was the most junior looking senior of the last two groups. She clearly dedicates herself to feel the music and finishing her moves but it looks studied. I hope she will get more fluidity and complexity with the years to come. She will grow as a skater but the second mark goes way higher to Ruiter that Bombardier .Yes, but she was also second at Nationals that year IIRC so there was no drama in leaving someone like Lacoste off the team-- especially after the Nationals medal ceremony debacle where she lost a medal last-minute as it was.
I know everyone is on board the Ruiter excitement, but I think Bombardier is more finished with bigger, stronger elements at this point. I really do think Ruiter gets 4CC and Junior Worlds, and I hope Fiona is strongly considered for WTT.
Did you watch Ruiter's skate at Challenge?!? I don't feel as confident about that as you do...I think Ruiter is more likely to produce a consistent long program high score than Bombardier at WTT. I would send Ruiter over Bombardier.
Yep. But she medaled at Ice Challenge in Graz and and was solid in the long. She has been 7 international assignments and has medaled in 4/7 of them. I think that shows pretty good consistency.Did you watch Ruiter's skate at Challenge?!? I don't feel as confident about that as you do...
Yes, but the discussion in question was how to get Bombardier senior international seasons best scores since she didn't have internationals and will not be sent to 4CC because of it. Ruiter is likely to get World Juniors and I really think 4CC, as well.Yep. But she medaled at Ice Challenge in Graz and and was solid in the long. Eh, most countries look at WTT as a fun event to cap off the season. Sure, they would like to win/medal, but it's not as serious as any other ISU Championship or even the TE at the Olympics. WTT would actually be a great event to send someone like Bombardier for her senior debut as it's more low-key, and relaxed, plus it's often one of the most over-scored events of the season.Sorry my response was still in midthought....I just don't think that World Team Trophy is a place for someone to do their first international senior assignment. For an event that only happens every 2 years, each country will be wanting to send their best. Ruiter has a more technically difficult long program than Schizas. She will be just about a month shy of 17 when the competition happens, and Schizas was sent to her first Worlds at 17. Just a thought.
As I recall Gracie Gold and Gabrielle Daleman made their senior debut at world team trophy (in 2012 and 2013 respectively) so it's not unheard of. No one is denying Ruiter's ability but Bombardier has had a few good competitions in a row and really deserves an opportunity to set her up for next season and possibly qualify for a senior grand prix assignment.Sorry my response was still in midthought....I just don't think that World Team Trophy is a place for someone to do their first international senior assignment. WTT also has good money to be won, so I'm sure many skaters would like to go as well. The majority of the time, it seems whoever goes to World's gets WTT as well, perhaps as a reward? But I could totally be off about this.Eh, most countries look at WTT as a fun event to cap off the season. Which is what we’ve been discussing. And nothing for Bombardier

Uh, just confirming? i.e., no Junior WorldsWhich is what we’ve been discussing. She doesn’t have the minimums to go anywhere besides World Juniors.
With only one spot for JW, Kaiya's the right choice.Uh, just confirming? i.e., no Junior Worlds
Agreed. She has really improved though since the summer and I think once she is a little more consistent and can include the triple triple into her program she will get the assignments. I think Andre B has done a fabulous job developing the next gen program and Canadians proves that, I think this quad looks good for the women’s program and there is a great new stock behind these seniors skaters as well. Bombardier is a little still in both camps .I give A+ to Fiona for her dedication and big jumps but she is rarely on a straight axis and that will never help her GOE. It seems so weird that Josee Chouinard has a teenage daughter. Where does the time go?
Thanks for reminding me - link to Wilson's photo with Kaiya: https://www.instagram.com/p/CniSZnoOpu6/I saw a post online with David Wilson working with Kaiya at the Cricket on the Jr version of her free program post Canadians.
I'm happy to hear Britten was/is involved with her choreography.Amazing performances on Canada’s biggest stage this weekend! Watching you rise to the occasion and embrace the moment was so much fun and seeing you climb up onto the podium at your first Senior Nationals was pretty cool too! A truly incredible accomplishment. Honoured to be part of your journey and can’t wait to see what the future holds for you. Congratulations, Fiona. You have so much to be proud of.
Thank you to our team of coaches that helped Fiona this season. Couldn’t have done it without you! And thank you to Danielle Rose & Sebastien Britten for the beautiful choreography!
