I used // to indicate the end of each group.

Kate Wang skated to Dr. Zhivago and went for 7 triples in her Jr. FS, including 3Lz+3Lo at the start! Her unofficial score was announced as 99.88.

ETA:

Kate Wang's score was corrected/raised afterwards to 105.61. Her 7 triples were 3Lz+3Lo (both jumps looked good!), 3F, 2A, 3Lz, 3F+1Eu+3S (off balance landing), 3T, 2A+2T. She had the highest Junior FS qualifying score tonight, followed by Jessica Lin 96.13 (skated to a piano medley by Joe Hisaishi that, IIRC, was her last season's FS music) and Emilea Zingas 92.39 (very expressive program to the Chicago soundtrack) who were the top 2 in group B.

Emilea Zingas is phenomenal! What an awesome dancer!

Alexei K's artistic improvement is massive and noteworthy, found his SP really fun with moments of beauty also.

Amber Glenn was wonderful- although I do prefer the original version of that song. Hope her FS goes well.

Calalang/Johnson have developed a regal quality and impressive speed. This match just feels right, and their SP had me excited. Also really thrilled with Feng/Nyman, and that twist was outrageous! Lu/Mitrofanov have improved a lot as well, enjoyed them. Loved Chan/Howe even though not as technically proficient as the others.

LeDuc deserves a medal for fortitude. What he accomplishes in lifting Cain as if she were a feather, is extraordinary...not to mention her positioning to make the lifts happen...the physics involved...reminds me of Tai & Randy’s lift miracles. Wishing them well in the FP.

Senior Men final standings & FS music:

Jimmy Ma 219.95 1 1 (144.63 FS) - "Blues for Klook"
Alex Krasnozhon 208.16 2 3 (132.85 FS) - Dracula theme
Dinh Tran 197.26 4 2 (135.46 FS) - Sherlock Holmes OST
Roman Sadovsky 196.67 3 4 (131.21 FS) - skated to last year's Schindler's List/Bells of Moscow music
Andrew Austin 144.03 5 5 - Sunset Boulevard

ETA some notes for the top 4:

Ma: 4T fall, 3A+3T step out, 3Lo, 3Lz+2T / 3A-half loop-2S, 3Lz, 3F, then really turned on the expression in footwork. I like this program for him!

Krasnozhon: 3A landed then suddenly fell, 4Lo didn't look rotated/fall (his SP attempt looked better), 3A(pitched forward on landing)+2T step, 3S / 3F+3Lo, 3Lz+3T, 3Lz, showed good energy in his footwork at the end. After a rough start jump-wise, he finished strongly. Had moments where he looked like he was thinking through the program but it has potential, IMO.

Tran: 3Lz+3T, 2A (planned triple? opened up), 3F, 3Lz high / 3Lo, 3F+2T+2Lo, 3S+2T.

Sadovsky: 4S step out, 3F, 3A good! 1Lo / 4S hand down/fell out to ? jump, 3A+2T, 3Lz too low/fall, ended with 2 quality spins. Encouraging to see him land two 3A solidly in the same program.

I enjoyed my time at Skate Detroit even with the many withdrawals. There were lots of highlights. I was so impressed with Calalang and Johnson. Brian is just so strong and their triple twist is just breathtaking. They truly made a strong case for the Skate America TBD spot. Both programs showed a lot of hard work. One of the nicest surprises was the strong comeback from Olivia Serafini and Mervin Tran. There is a likeability about this team. You can tell they like skating with each other and it makes their programs very successful. I hope they get a Senior B this season. Chan and Howe made a great first impression on me. It’s all there and when they get more time together they should make a big impact. I’ve always liked Feng and Nyman. Sara really made a big step up in her presentation which was so nice to see. She had a big smile during the programs. TJ presents her very well. Lots of good Junior Pairs teams looking to represent Team USA on the JGP.
Senior Men only had 5 competitors but who doesn’t love seeing Jimmy Ma skate two such technically strong and very entertaining programs? It was so nice to see Amber Glenn do so well. She’s such a sweetheart and deserved this moment.
And watch out for Kate Wang in Junior Ladies. She is certainly one to watch.
