U.S. Women [#8]: Meet Me in St. Louis

Just caught the final group of novice women from PAC Sectionals on YouTube. I am loving Rachel Samari. She is such a unique stylist already. And her spins are eye popping….including some of the positions she gets in, as well as the continuous speed. She caught my eye on the Junior Grand Prix this fall for sure. She needs some jump technique help…and I hope USFS high performance will focus on making sure she gets it. She looks like a competitor too…she was clearly not happy with her skate in the K&C, even though it was first place.😅

Do we have a thread talking about sectionals….i couldn’t find it?

It’s in the Kiss and Cry subforum.

Do Rachel Samiri and Candice Leung get to go to US Nationals as Juniors, due to the top 2 Novice in each section skate-up to Junior?

But it also shows how close the three women are: who goes to Milan as national champ will come down to who’s best on that day at Nats. They’re really a talented crew and so different from each other, it’s a pleasure to watch them.
Isabeau underrotated 3 jumps and lost @10 points. Had she jumped cleanly, she would have finished just barely ahead of Chiba.

Did all y’all see the Olympics ad with Ariana Grande shaking the snow globe with Alysa inside of it?

It was really weird how they weren't even reviewing some of Mone Chiba's jumps. Maybe that's a benefit of being a Worlds medalist? They were tough with virtually everyone else. (But not in China; I wish they would at least be consistent.) I'm glad I wasn't playing a drinking game during Skate Canada where you had to do a shot every time someone got a q or <. I would have ended up with alcohol poisoning.

Alysa is one of a kind! Love she did that

Alysa is great, but someone should tell whoever is running the ISU account that that’s not how POV works and they don’t sound hip.

No Alexa? Was she at nationals last year?

7 Senior women competed at Nationals last year who will not be there this year - 4 of them competed at Sectionals this month:

Alexa Gasparotto (13th in Wichita), Alina Bonillo (15th), Michelle Lee (16th), Alex Evans (18th) - had to WD before Easterns FS due to injury

Did not compete this season: Mia Kalin (11th in Wichita)-taking time off, Lindsay Thorngren (12th), Ting Cui (17th)-recovering from right ankle surgery (her June 27 post): https://www.instagram.com/p/DLaVJjjRLm9/
ETA that Ting is at Middlebury College in VT and just worked in Lake Placid with the NBC research staff at Skate America. :)

Moved up from Junior: Emilia Nemirovsky (4th in Wichita & Columbus), Sophie Joline von Felten (Junior champ in Wichita)
First time at Nationals: Erica Machida, Anabel Wallace
Missed last year's Nationals: Isabeau Levito, Ava Ziegler, Katie Shen (DNQ; 14th in Columbus)

Reposting here what I had posted in another thread:

First time Nationals qualifiers Erica "YN" Machida uses they/them pronouns. Their post-Sectionals Instagram post ended: "Excited to represent my country, my coaching team, and my community of support as a nonbinary athlete!"
