Fall 2024-Summer 2025 New/Returning/Streaming/TV Shows

I’m confused. We’re in season 3 of SNW, aren’t we?
We are but there are also lists that rank all the episodes from all the seasons. Plus, these last seasons are so short... they might as well be one season. And Seasons 1-3 are only 30 episodes total.

They're teasing a muppet episode for season 4 already. See this article.
I enjoyed the latest season of CB Strike called "The Ink Black Heart." There were a lot of good twists and turns in this one. The two leads have great chemistry.
They are very well done, and do a good job of adapting the books in my opinion.

The next season (The Running Grave) is due to start production soon, so will likely be released some time in 2026.

I've binged Leanne on Netflix this weekend - I found it charming and relatable and I do like Leanne Morgan's comedy special.

Tim Daly has aged well.

I went in with really low expectations and have found myself laughing out loud quite a few times. I’m through eight episodes. Tim Daly is looking like a snack!

I heard on the news that starting next year some time Hulu is not going to be a stand alone app but only bundled with Disney. Wondering what that will mean for the usual black Friday deals. I currently have it for $0.99/month with ads... I only watch a couple of shows on it so maybe I'll drop it and subscribe strategically.

I thought I heard Hulu and Disney could still be purchased as separate subscriptions but they would just be under the same interface? I hope they keep running the annual Black Friday deal. It will pain me to pay more than $1/month for the egregious amount of ads they include in their shows.

I don’t know. The blurb I heard on the morning news roundup said Hulu wasn’t going to be available separately “next year.”

At least on Hulu the commercials are short. I ended up going ad-free on Paramount+ because their commercials were frequent and longer.

Every ad break is at least 90 seconds and there are about six of them in an hour show. That’s not short for me! Netflix’s ad breaks are mostly less than a minute.

Yeah, but Paramount’s ads were longer than that even… When Bradley was with me I’d just give him extra attention during those commercial breaks… maybe they’ll bother me more now…

origanlly posted in the true crime thread...

Peacock has a series streaming called "I Cut Off His Penis". It starts with the most famous US case (Lorena Bobbit) but goes on to discuss an increasing number of cases worldwide. In the trailer one woman said that everyone wants to talk about what she did to him but not what he did to her. Part of me wants to watch this but I have a feeling it will be one case after another about men abusing women and getting away with it until the women committed an extreme act of self-defense.

I need to think about how much depressing things I want to watch right now.

I binged the first half of season 2 of Wednesday in one afternoon. Love this show so much. I think whoever did the casting deserves an Emmy. Do they give out Emmys for casting? LOL. I do miss Xavier though. (Yes, I know all the rumors about Percy Hynes White that were swirling around, but as far as I can tell they were based entirely on social media posts that have since been deleted, and nothing concrete was ever brought forward).

Seriously, I will now have to bingewatch SATC for the rest of my life to get over this.
In the last week, I’ve watched series 6 of SATC after last weeks episode and am now watching the first movie. I’ll probably watch the crappy second one too just to get over this trauma.

Thanks Strange New Worlds - that's more like it!

Though I feel like the Scavengers may have been inspired by the Reavers in Firefly.

I enjoyed the episode, too, and the insight into Kirk's personality and character evolution. I did not see the ending coming.

I'm all in on "Alien Earth" already. In this dystopian series the world is divided into four corporate entities. It makes me think of what Peter Thiel and his technocrats want instead of democracy. Anyway this is well cast and interesting.

I’m watching the 2nd season of Wednesday and am a bit disappointed:

1. Jenna Ortega kept saying the show will get darker, but instead it seems lighter and quite a bit childish.
2. the plot is confused
3. the graphical visuals are weird , it somehow looks as if peoples faces are overly soft-focused and the rest is sometimes overly sharp. Catherine Zeta Jones looks like some random video game characters whos features morph depending on the scene

Maybe I’m misremembering, but I felt different about the first season.

I watched the new Peanuts show on Apple TV+ the other day. A musical about the kids going off to camp and how they all come together to save the camp. I’m sure will call it woke but I thought it was very sweet.

I laughed out loud multiple times at the most recent Strange New Worlds episode. I got delayed watching it because of my Xfinity issues but it was well worth the wait.
