Elizaveta Tuktamysheva: “I am not their kind of people who will be very worried about what they can’t fix”: https://www.fsrussia.ru/intervyu/43...ezhivat-o-tom-chego-oni-ne-mogu-ispravit.html

Excerpt:

- Now in Russia, figure skating is at the peak of its popularity, much is written about figure skaters and not always objectively and truthfully. Most of all goes to girls, they are constantly compared and opposed to each other. What do you think about it and how do you react to all this?

- When there is a flow of negativity, I try to get into the social network less. But what can be done if it is of interest to people? The main thing is that in the life between us, sportswomen there is nothing like that. We ourselves know how we communicate with each other, what is the situation in each other's sports. But if people like to read about “battles”, then reporters will write. Everything is interconnected. I also want the articles to have more good, because we have such a beautiful sport. I want to be as little as possible mixed with dirt.

That should put rumors of her and Medvedeva fighting ?. all lies and gossip
Don't remember hearing such rumors about the two of them. The fighting was between their fans, and some of it still going on (given Tuk skated so well at WTT, and her fans arguing it should have been her WC skate). Tuk expressed frustration for not going to the WC, and posted some stuff showing it, but it was not specifically against Med...:shuffle:

I remember someone posted that Medvedeva deleted Tukt from twitter and alluding to them fighting. Then it was stated it was a technical error or something. Nice that these girls have high respect for each other and friendships

Med put on her instagram that anyone posting on it had to be positive and respectful about other skaters or she would block them.

What a brilliant, uplifting interview with Liza! She is always so steady and mature in her interviews. She would make a great mentor for young skaters. I think she really is a credit to Mishin's good coaching work.

Her illness sounded horrible, but I'm glad that she says that she has learnt from it -- even in the least that she can get back to full competitive fitness from square one in two months.

I'm also glad she views the season as a positive, despite some of the lows along the way. I do hope that her positive experiences with balancing show skating and training will mean that we will see more of her in shows. She previously didn't do them because she thought they interfered with training.

I liked the quotes below:

This season is like a blast. It was so bright and will remain in my memory, because it started brightly and ended brightly.

The show in Japan helped me a lot. I went there right after the World Championships ended, switched, got into a different atmosphere – other cities, country, people … I was so into all this that now I feel very well. I don’t care about the past, happened what happened. I’m not one of those people who will be very worried about things they cannot change.

Yes, a very pleasant end of the season. I’m so glad that I did everything that depended on me, I got good scores. I will try to keep it and start the next season with the same positive emotions.

Yes, that happened, but it was "fan inspired" attention to the situation, and both Med and Tuk had to say something.
Med and Tuk congratulated each other after RCF. Then nothing for a while. Tuk made a comment about "little girl killed inside of her" but that was targeted at Federation's decision. Then Tuk posted a "funny foto" of two dogs tearing at the bone, and a cat in the middle waiting for the bone to fall down and to take it" and she said something like "let Zag and Med battle it out, i'll wait till the field is clear". And that's when Med's fans jumped on it, and connected Med to deleting Tuk from twitter. Both Tuk and Med denied problems and fans stopped.

The only "direct fight" between Tuk and a skater was with Pogo, when Pogo said things about "Tuk's striptease and image with children". Tuk replied "I know how to handle my future children" or something... That went away quickly.. nothing like Plush and Yags..

I don't think Elizabeta has gone through puberty. We will see a total different young woman when she retires.

Elizabet is already 19 years old. I’m not sure if it’s just her natural body structure or not, but she is exceptionally tiny and still has a very childlike body for her age. She is done growing in height and she is only about 4’10”.

If Pluschenko said that Tarakanova is too emotional and left it at that, fine. Not great, but still ok. But going into details how she is frequently crying... there was no need for that. Tarakanova is a teenager, very likely going through her puberty and her hormones are all over place. Lots of teenagers have a periods of time when they may be prone to crying. Doing elite level of any sport (and being reasonably successful) means there is quite a lot of expectations on her young shoulders, and the number of skaters in junior ladies in Russia, all fighting for a limited number of spots, that’s a pressure cooker. All this stress, in combination with puberty and hormones, I am not surprised she is crying

Agree so much with this! Trust me, if there’s one thing I understand, it’s being a hormonal teenage girl. These young ladies are under huge amounts of stress and performing to the ultimate level of their sport. It’s only natural to be emotionally stressed. Particularly if your coach is being an insensitive old jerk.

Wow, this young teenager has shown how to part and stay classy. Pity that her adult coach did not manage the same. Clearly, fame got into his head.

I agree so much. Class act, Nastya. I hope she gets the future she deserves in this sport away from stupid, self-absorbed men who don’t appreciate her.

Anyone who thinks that a 19-year old woman has not gone through puberty, has not gone through mental maturity of a 10-year old. Unless...... Orser was giving Elizabeta "some pills" from 2013 to 2018... oh, how horrible...:slinkaway

Have the Canadians ever been caught in doping scandal? Many reasons for any suspicious with Russians. But not Canada, so I doubt that’s ever a rumor

Do you mean just in skating? Because Ben Johnson is probably the most infamous doper in sports. Well, there is Lance Armstrong, but Johnson was really the first athlete notoriously caught and punished for doping.

On April 18 Yagudin's skating centre in Minsk was opened. Tatiana Tarasova and Oleg Vasiliev also were there. Maxim Marinin gave a master class together with Yagudin and Tatiana Totmianina.
https://www.tvr.by/news/sport/gotov..._tsentr_figurnogo_kataniya_alekseya_yagudina/

There will be a training camp from April 19 to April 30 (Tatiana Totmianina and Polina Shelepen are the coaches)

Komleva says, that the centre is going to get money to pay the coaches from those money which the kids are going to pay. As for working with the Belarusian team (top athletes), Yagudin agrees to work for free with them (as Komleva says), though she adds it is still "under negotiation".

Yagudin says, that Oleg Vasiliev, Maxim Marinin, Yana Khokhlova are going to work in this centre too. (to come from time to time)

Yagudin says he doesn't want to destroy anything or to make athletes leave other schools and come to his school. He wants his centre to be a part of the system, so that they could help each other and come together to a better result.

As far as I can see, they offer 3 ice trainings a week for kids now.

Yagudin also became an ambassador of the European Games in Minsk (June 21-30 2019).

:) It is almost funny: he writes a book when he is asked to write a book, he leads warming up exercises for any people who'd like to come - when he is asked to, he becomes a coach - when he is asked to.

And that led to a government inquiry.

Lance Armstrong isn’t Canadian.

I never said Lance Armstrong was Canadian. Ben Johnson is Canadian and when I typed that he is probably the most notorious doper in history, the first one having been caught, but then I realized to probably many more people Lance is the most notorious. Just to clarify.

The Russian federation is considering refusing to accredit Russian journalist Elena Vaytsekhovskaya for competitions.

Google translation:

The Russian Federation of Figure Skating reserves the right not to grant accreditation to R-Sport journalist Elena Vaytsekhovskaya.

Publications of the author cause outrage both among specialists and fans of figure skating. It seems that a capable journalist has gone down to the level of the yellow press and is writing her own opuses for the sole purpose of collecting more likes.

And this is just the beginning... :D Vaytsekhovskaya is know for using her position of a journalist to solve personal vendettas with athletes and coaches, using or rather twisting sports issues for personal reasons. That was part of the reason why she had to leave Sport-Express few years back. She is extremely obsessed with several people, and more and more readers and sports authorities are now concerned. At this point such action maybe a warning only.

She seems to not be fond of Eteri Tutberidze. It will be interesting to see what transpires.
She is also not a friend of Oleg Protopopov, she, in a very sneaky way, insulted him in her "supposed post-mortem" article the night when his wife (Ludmila) died a little over a year ago, and it was something she was waiting to do for a long time (over a strictly personal disagreement 15 years ago). There are other athletes she bullies, using "sports issues" to gain personal, strictly personal, revenge.

Thank you for clearing this up! I was wondering why she left Sport Express, I figured it was due to a lot of negative feedback under the articles. I also find many of her articles to be highly slanted and vindictive...

I always found her articles informative but biased, and as an interviewer she was harsh, but I have heard worse.

So, Eteri Tutberidze is like the Cersei Lannister of figure skating

We’ve all been comparing her to Cersei for years! We really need to match skaters/coaches to Game of Thrones characters sometime!

I think it was due to a management change, not so much about her articles. In fact she was immediately grabbed by the ria.ru.
I find her articles very blunt and strainht forward with close to zero fluff. Guess it's the difference between an.olympic champion (which she is in diving) and a non sports person talking - she manages to get a lot out of people. Thanks to her interviews I learned a couple of names in the sports I couldn't care less about.

As for the RFSF considering revoking her accred - if I were them I'd start with a 'journalust' whose articles mainly focus on ths sjaters' boobs size...

Am curious what happened to have shit hit the fan and whose head will roll as a result. My bet - it won't be Vaytsekhovskaya. She is too damn good in too many sports (she covers biathlon, ski, water sports, some kind of fighting, not boxing but not sure wtf is that sport), rhythmic gymnastics and probably 200 other fields I don't even know exist

When she decides to dig into someone she's vicious and relentless. But this is borderline psychotic.

I always enjoy the many interviews she does that are translated on this forum. She seems better and more prolific than other Russian interviewers — though admittedly this is a also a function of what’s translated/introduced on
this forum. I’m confused. Are we talking about the same journalist?

I think that Elena Vaitsekkhovskaya is a professional journalist, a good interviewer and a smart woman, but I agree that she often follows her own interests in her articles and interviews. IMHO, a journalist should be in the background and stay neutral, present facts, bring out the truth etc. Many journalists want to promote themselves. However, I don't think it is right to "ban" Vaitsekhovskaya (or others) just for the reason that they don't like the articles she writes or they feel that the articles are causing controversy. If it is that bad, skaters, coaches and officials won't give her any interviews (or again give an interview only because they follow their own agenda and want to stir up something) and the problem solves itself more or less (no interviews = less to publish).
