They are not assigned a JGP yet and they are not on any of the substitution lists either so I was beginning to wonder. They were named to the Next Gen team though. Reading the caption on the video, it seems they are taking the time to rework things with their new coaching team. I like this team and hope they will have better sbs jumps now that they have switched coaches.
Olivia & MacKenzie easily won the Junior pairs event at the GTSA summer competition this past weekend.

I don't think you should write off Brasseur/Bardei too quickly.

I'm headed in the other direction, personally.

I will disregard any result this year as they learn to compete. When I see what they have from a raw ability/potential perspective I might consider them for a national title at some point this cycle. I think MT/M don't have much more to add to their repertoire. AirBandB will have higher scoring lifts and twist in the next year or two, so it will come down to packaging and refinement of other elements.

Seguin/ Michaud... on paper, appears to be a good team.

Como say what?

Well their hair colour is slightly similar, so I'll give you that.

He has excellent SS, powerful stroking, masculine balletic movement to music, amazing posture and line and a sophisticated air. A hybrid of Pelletier and Brubaker.

She is perky, choppy stroking, average posture, terrible line.....and.....OK I'm getting tired now.

I continue to counter her match is Deschamps. Trennt is super strong and fit but Julianne needs a serious tank. The way he handled Grenier and Kolodziej is mind blowing. They have similar energies on the ice and the things they lack match quite well, too. I'm standing my ground on that one. I don't think we will all fully understand how good Maxime is until he gets a legit pair girl. Audience will warm up to them quickly.

I agree about Julianne and Maxime. I hope she continues.

Are Julianne and Charlie training in the same camp still or has one of them moved along elsewhere? I can imagine it would be difficult to stay training where you were. Particularly if any of the coaches might have facilitated the split (although I don't know if that was the case).

There is so much to comment on, I was waiting to see everyone skate at all the competitions before jumping in. Where to begin>
KMT/M love the choice of music, I can really see this program develop over the year. The Lift was a bit scary, I thought Mike's technique had improved but not in this lift, He was struggling , his turns were sloppy and he had KMT so forward in the air. This left needs come work!
Ruest and Wolfe- I honestly have not watched them much, not very exciting to watch and I have not seen much of a development. Maybe this will be the year they surprise me!
W/M, I have to agree with blademate, Trennt is wasting his time, this partnership is not going to get him where he wants to go. She can be as skinny as possible but there is nothing you can do with those long legs. She is just not a pair girl in skating style, technique and size. You worry that Trennt will develop the same bad habits/techniques that Mike has from having a partner that is too tall. I am not sure who the best is for Trennt, he needs a petite, strong girl to match him better , who he can carry easily and get that triple twist!

Brasseur/Bardei... finally something to get excited about! Yes they had a couple errors in Quebec Skate but considering it was there 1st outing it was pretty remarkable. They are perfectly matched and I can watch Justine perform anytime! She checks all the boxes! I look forward to watching this team develop.
Boys-Eddy, nice to see they made a coaching change. Olivia did have a shoulder injury last winter and missed nationals so I am sure they are still getting back on track from that. I also think they may be dealing with Olivia growing. It looked like she had grown a lot when I watched the GTSA competition. Still disappointed that they have not improved on the side by side skills. Hopefully the new coaching will get working on that.
I hope Julianne is taking the time to heal. yfbg722, you are spot on that the pair world is tough on the girls and it is not getting any better. Oh the Pair world, never a dull moment!

I'm going to continue to make this point until I stop breathing.

Issues with lifts, twists, throws are as much the girl as the boy.
Recall Dylan had a poor twist with her and struggled on several lifts in competition...and pound for pound he's as strong as it gets in pairs.

KMT is currently not in shape. Once that is corrected, they'll be fine.

The main reason I said its Deschamps (besides it looking like him to me) is he and Kim train together so it would make sense for them to at least be training together to keep their skill levels up, even if they aren't paring up.

The most important thing in pair girls in lifts is hit the position and do not move using your core to make sure you do not move. Any movement throws off the pair guy and it can come down. Yes they just started practicing due to KMT injury so conditioning could be a problem. When is their first internationl?

I think Autumn classic next month.

It seems to me that KMT has always struggled a bit with core strength and or engaging her core correctly. I am sure her coaching team is aware of the problem. Hopefully a solution can be found because it really affects their consistency.

I am sure they must...commentators even have remarked how she wagged her leg in the last lift of their long program.

Hmm Looks like Charlie Bilodeau to me. I wonder.

I think Charlie would have a bigger height difference with Kyu-eun.

This is Kyu-eun's mother's twitter and she said that the male is a Canadian named M, works with Bruno Marcotte, good personality and Bruno thinks they match really well. If it works out Kyu-eun wants to skate for SK but it's been less than a week. Pretty sure it is Maxime but just wanted to make sure.

I’m totally on the Brasseur/Bardei bandwagon. Let’s hope he can sort out his SBS jumps. How long have they been together? 9 months? One year? Also how old is she now, anyone know?

They seem to have a natural unison and leg leg. I love how absolutely immaculately she’s groomed. Hair, makeup, costuming. No “drippy Canadian ponytail” for Justine! :glamor:

Justine is now 17. She looks way older which is a good thing, IMHO. And yes, she looks amazing. Total rockstar.

I'm usually good at picking out teams with potential and this one totally reminds me of when I sat in the stands in Kamloops, BC in October 1998 and saw Sale & Pelletier for the first time.

So I guess we have a fan club of two for Brasseur & Bardei now! :D

Look out, kids. We have a new pair on the scene: #AirBandB (I'm claiming that one lol)

Brasseur and Bardei look GREAT together. First time competing so the silly mistakes happened. Even with a wonky throw landing, him landing his sbs jump on his face and her falling on footwork they got 55 in the SP! Twist and lifts will be unreal with this team.

He's a tank. All this talk of her growing, she looks tiny next to him. This is gonna work.
The only element with a long way to go is the throws. She's clearly not ready to land big throws but I think she's only 16 still (yikes), but everything else looks to be set and ready to rock.

Couldn't care less how clean the skate was. First time out, just wanna see what they got....and they got a LOT.

PS Matte/Ferland were solid first SP in senior, too. Well done, guys!

Agree about B/B. She’s stunning, he’s strong. Just worried about his SBSs. Hopefully QSS was just nerves because he hasn’t competed in over 2 years.
