Totally! I most definitely need a holiday now:p

If you were around 20+ years ago, you'd be more exhausted! Skating was so prevalent after the "Tanya/Nancy" drama; the GP was prime time on Fox! The amateurs and pros had their events telecast weekly thru the summer culminating in the "Goodwill Games!" It could be on multiple channel! We get little pub in comparison to then! You have to hunt down coverage now even with the Olympic Channel! :scream: :COP: :plush: :sarah1: :sasha1:

I don't think so. There were comps every week during the late summer and early fall. Sometimes multiple comps most of which had live streaming.

Is it August yet and time for the JGP?

And, a big thank you for all the #TTW posters who find all the news as soon as it's news.

And, my annual, early nomination for Gubanova for the team. She now has coaching drama! Surely that's enough!

I have little to no idea what you mean! You're saying you wouldn't be exhausted or are you contradicting the idea of more skating being televised? Heaven knows I can't say there was much in the way of live streaming back in the 90's! Windows was just created for Gawd-sake! I just seem to remember taping a lot of skating back then; Surya as an am. & Oksana as a pro! I was sending tapes to friends there was so much it was hard to keep up with! :scream: :COP: :respec:

Sorry, I meant there's more skating to see now than 20 years ago and it's not made for TV fake comps. And, skating is easy to access and watch if you want. We even get to see the junior GP events.

Well that was what I was talking about; plenty of made for TV events because skating was HUGE back then! There was "ICE Wars" to look forward to along with prime time events with special rules! I found it quite entertaining because they started using music with vocals! Until then, the only person that got away with that was Katarina Witt who did a quick "hum" of a few bars of something during her music at the '94 Olympics in Lillehammer! :40beers: :COP: :puppet: :respec:

Aliev wrote a long and very nice end of the season-post on IG. He's thanking his coaches and his team, who stood by him during his injury early in the season and are always there for him. He writes about how good they are as a team, they have done major work together this season, he believes in them 100%. He also thanks his parents, that are always in his heart. :) Awwww, bless!

Yes to what? Did you see the Italians on podium? :mitchell:
The italians should have retired after 2014. Lovely skaters but not real top level Skating. It's sad but is not surprising their careers end in a Drobiazko/Vanagas way.

.

I'm sure it was a Magical time for fans back then but I'd rather go through the hundreds of senior b with lousy streams we have today instead of one of those cheesy fests shows and "pro" comps of The middle 90s.

The competitive sport side is what makes Skating interesting for me.

In in a pairs event filled with do-hard men and badass women, you pick the freaking Knierims?!:scream:
.. :drama:

Well I did Say i wasnt into big guys didnt I :D Plus i find the mainstream choices around here (Guarise, Hotarek, Enbert) a bit overated and even worse: awfully costumed. Ciprés is the main exception but I prefer him in the sp (minus the blue lace).

As for the Knierims. Don't hate them for being beautiful ?

Time for wine :nopryde:

I'm so glad I was cheering at home worlds but boy was Team Italy a little trainwrecky unlucky in Milan... :gallopin1
farewell Baby Italians, we grew up together! I started watching skating in their first senior season and now off they go, the last ice dancers my age retiring. :wuzrobbed

On less sappy notes, I had shitty section neighbours who totally prevented me 100% enjoying the FD :( so I have to retreat my candidature as fan auxiliary - no tears for me for H/D this time (maybe I spent them for BabyItalians). Only big grin, screams and fist pumping (despite boss sending me messages to copy Zach's k&c stripping and flash the crowd :p ).
Still proud I left the #tt mark as my legacy on the wall of fame in Milan :D

farewel

thats putting it mildly ??The medal mission for the locals was a big failure. Pairs and Kostner i can understand cause there are falls and points to discount but Dance??? Germany shamelessly gave Winkler/Lohse their World bronze gift no matter what and last time Worlds were in Italy Faiella/Scali also got their gift despite not deserving it. While i Still think W&P are the better team i'm sure no one would have minded Anna & Luca getting more than generous scores at home Ice.

I'm not quite so sure "magical" would be the right word for it... There was enough cheese to open a Kraft factory, but hey, I was there! :sheep:

I did enjoy that FD but DelSchoes and BenAgosto were miles better. Heck even GrushGoncharov deserved it more and dont get me started on the Lindemann Bronze. But what's done is done , the point is ITA should have taken note and Anna & Luca would not be going to History books as the flukiest World Champions ever..

I am sorry, but when I read that Winkler / Lohse were World Championships medallists I was like ... what, how, when?! I literally scratched my head. :slinkaway:lol: I would react the same if you told me that Fraser / Lukanin won bronze medal at the Europeans or something (with all due respect).
