U.S. Women [#8]: Meet Me in St. Louis

The whole exchange is at about the nineteen minute mark in the SP press conference. It's fun:

For those who don't want to watch the entire press conference, I posted an edited version earlier in the thread, which is very entertaining as well.

ETA: I found a short clip on Instagram of Isabeau's comment with Amber's and Alysa's reactions:

No. It was Isabeau. Watch the press conference from Nationals. Amber's response to Isabeau saying this is really funny. The entire press conference is really entertaining.

Got it, I changed my signature at the bottom because it sounded like Amber said to her “go ahead and just say it.” And that’s when Isabeau said the hoes on their toes. my interpretation was because Amber was the oldest she was making sure Alysa and Isabeau were on their toes.

I can see why you might think that if you saw the quote out of context.

You can tell from the press conferences that Amber is in the older sister role. She met both Alysa and Isabeau when they were young. When Amber was on The Runthrough, she talked about how she feels kind of like their mentor. The first time she heard Isabeau cuss, she discussed it with Isabeau and Isabeau insisted that it was not a bad word. Adam's response was that Isabeau is from New Jersey.

The 3 "Blade Angels" have made it to Team USA processing in Milan :):
And they've got their swag!

ETA: TeamUSA and USFS have been posting quite a bit on Instagram today of team members arriving and getting their swag, including a number of skaters.

Here's another one of the women:

Hope the 3 can focus during this hyped up time. Endless interviews, Blade Angels?, oh please. Lure of fame hard to resist.
That’s one of the reasons why it’s good that they’re all there early. They can enjoy the novelty and vibe for a few days before they clamp down on training and competition. Once they get to Bergamo (today?) they’ll get back to the grind.

I am that horrible poster who doesn't search for info that is probably posted elsewhere, but when are lineups announced for the Team Event? I recall an update saying they would be announced a while ago, which was clearly false.

If we don't know when they'll be announced, when are lineups due?

I posted these links of the 3 women at the Team USA Welcome experience yesterday in their respective fan threads:

Yep.

It's got to be super exciting getting your Olympic credentials and all your official gear. They clearly had a blast. Here are a few more videos:

It was really just a few hours of pure fun, so why not soak it in and enjoy the excitement. Vadym mentioned having a 7 a.m. call. They already were training this morning. Isabeau posted this photo of her in the weight room (kind of) warming up.

I think Amber was elected team captain?

Someone made the women cute "Blade Angels" tote bags:

Some fun from the Olympic Village. (Team USA loves the skaters!)

I saw that too. Evan gets to hand over the duties at long last, lol.
I think Evan was only team captain in 2018? I thought Jason was captain in 2022? C/B were co-captains of the team for the TE in 2022, but TE and overall team have different captains at least in past Olys. IIRC, the captains for the 2018 TE were Alexa K and Alex Shib.

Congratulations to Amber for being elected captain!

Perhaps means nothing, but one of USFS social media posts from 2018 did not refer to Alexa K and Alex Shib as "captains." FWIW, the USFS wording in this case: "@alexa_knierim and @alexshibutani are #TeamUSA’s spokespeople during the #WinterOlympics Team Event."
But for all I know, maybe elsewhere USFS did use the word "captains" to refer them.

Anyway, I need to fall on my sword, because I recently said in another thread that I thought that Evan spoke at 2018 press conferences for team event. Sorry that I misremembered over there.

My memory obviously is not trustworthy, but I don't recall Jason as Olympic captain (at all) in 2022?
Although he has been Team USA captain at WTT more than once.

I think there was a list of TE captains on the ISU event site? I remember seeing lists of TE "captains" somewhere. Maybe USFS didn't want to confuse people since they had announced the overall team captain.

So does this mean for the team event or the team as a whole? I would assume if it's for the event that would ensure that Amber is competing, which is a...choice, if we're only using one women's skater.

Congratulations and Thanks to multitalented artist Sonja Hilmer, who was commissioned to create all the wonderful ink drawings of Team USA skaters that are hanging in their rooms in the Olympic village!
