I hope C&L get picked up somehow in another GP event and then SkAm TBD goes to them. Then we at least get to see the top 6 on the circuit.

Wow Deanna And Nate aren't conceding the USA national title (or that Olympics spot) to the Knierems or C/L or anybody. Still it is only July and a lot can happen between now and January at Nationals. Hope they continue to train and improve.

I don't know Stellato/Bartholomay's SP exact score yet (~55 is what I've heard) ... still waiting for the full Orange Blossom Open results to be published online so I can include Pfund/Santillan's scores in Scoretracker as well, along with the scores of the 2 Junior pairs, etc.

Skate Milwaukee pairs scores were sent to me today and have been added into my Scoretracker: https://unseenskaters.wordpress.com/scoretracker/current-pairs-scores/
2 JGP teams from last season -- Lockley/Prochnow (Milwaukee) and Lu/Mitrofanov (Cannon Texas Open last week) -- have the top 2 (known) Junior scores heading into Skate Detroit next week. The new team of Finster/Griffin made their debut in Milwaukee, placing 2nd of the 3 teams there.

I'm impressed by Lockley / Prochnow of 138.14 at Skate Milwaukee in junior pairs, so early in the season. That would have award them a 4th place at last year nationals. Nice 132. 26 for Lu / Mitrofanov at Cannon Texas.

Also, many previously Novices catching-on their tails. Hope to see soon what Kopmar/Barret will do this year. Their Sunshine state appearance being just a practice (47,55 for the SP).

Check out this entry into a throw 3Lo by Kopmar/Barrett: https://www.instagram.com/p/BWkaTgsBrIo/?taken-by=jpcoach

That entry is very nice, and quite unique. I'd venture to say that some of the unique moves in programs this past season of James/Cipres and Sav/Mas (with choreo by John Kerr and in the case of J/C ideas from Jeremy Barrett), have inspired other senior teams as well as up-and-coming juniors to be more creative.

I like how Kopmar/Barrett take their time and move with precision as they are training this move. The challenge will be finally incorporating the move into a program, in sync and in rhythm with the music.

Kayne/O'Shea just worked with Shae-Lynn Bourne and Shae Zukiwsky in South Carolina on their FS to Swan Lake: https://www.instagram.com/p/BWnKRfMlOCk/?taken-by=doshea213

Great! K/O are looking refreshed and inspired. Awww though, it will be difficult to make the Olympics next year with only one spot available for U.S. pairs. The teams who have the best shot are: S-K/K, C/L, and K/O, with Scinierims of course, heavily-favored. I would include C/T except for the fact that Merv is not yet a citizen of the U.S.

In other news,
Here's a USFS-posted mini Q&A with Cain/LeDuc: https://www.instagram.com/p/BWifHJOlSEW/

Young Pairs Trivia - @aftershocks posted this in the U.S. Men's thread and I'm replying here:
Interestingly, Jason skated pairs with Thea Milburn for three years, but it must have been when he was very young. I can't find any results of his short-lived pairs adventure.
Young Jason Brown and his partner qualified for the 2006 U.S. Junior Figure Skating Championships [Intermediate & Juvenile Nationals] in Westminster, Colorado. It held in early December 2005 right before he turned 11. He and Milburn were last in Juvenile Pairs Group 1A (QR), two spots behind 10-year-old Haven Denney & 13-year-old Brandon Frazier in 8th: http://www.usfsa.org/eventrelatedde.../events/200506/usjuniorchamps/juvpairs-1a.htm
8th was the last qualifying spot for the Final round where D/F placed 10th overall of 16 pairs: http://www.usfsa.org/eventrelatedde...ents/200506/usjuniorchamps/juvpairs-final.htm

Boston pairs group coached by Bobby Martin & Carrie Wall in 2017-18 are introduced here: https://www.instagram.com/p/BWrF786jwe4/?taken-by=skatepairs

Erika Smith/AJ Reiss
Allison Timlen/Justin Highgate-Brutman (teamed up in 2016 & will debut in competition this season): http://skatepairs.com/team/allison-justin/
Jade Esposito/Rique Newby-Estrella (new)
Jillian Smart/Miles Addison (new)
Sydney Cooke/Nathan Rensing (new)
Jade Hom/Franz-Peter Jerosch (new)

I am assuming the latter 2 teams will compete Novice, S/A Junior and the rest Senior at Cranberry Open, August 9-11?

Quite a jump for Jade Esposito who got silver in Intemediate pairs last January, to move to senior this year.

I am so late to this, but Deanna and Nate are already attempting a quad?!! oh my god! I don't even know how to react to that. She's my #2 behind Aljona.

I hope they make it to Worlds this year as the #2 team, and eventually medal at Worlds next quad. I'm stunned by their quick progress and wow I freaking love them (but especially her). :kickass:

Pairs SP are done in Detroit. Some interesting results that may give the tone of the season, especially in juniors.
https://unseenskaters.wordpress.com/

I especially liked the fact 4 junior pairs (3 US / 1 CAN) did over 48 (ok Kopmar/Barret didn't at 47,98) and Lockley/Prochnow on their tails. This is promising for the season and some potential to move to senior in the future.
48.92 Evelyn Walsh/Trennt Michaud (CAN) – female vocal
48.12 Sarah Feng/TJ Nyman (new) [Fantasy for Violin & Orchestra from Ladies in Lavender]
48.06 Audrey Lu/Misha Mitrofanov [Once Upon A December]
47.98 Elli Kopmar/Jonah Barrett [California Dreamin’]
46.30 Laiken Lockley/Keenan Prochnow [Clair de Lune/orchestral version]

The free program is yet to come...

Too many absents in the seniors to give a real idea on the ranking of the season, but scores were close, we could expect a season with a lot of suspense.

Good start for Goldstein/Bearinger in Novice with 36.81, nearly 5 points over their previous SP in Ann Arbor. I'm anxious to see how Mokhova/Mokhov will do tomorrow (they just have a FS for now). How will the N7 (Goldstein/Bearinger) will compare to the I1 (Mokhova/Mokhov)?

Here is Deanna and Nate's new "Eleanor Rigby" SP from Skate Detroit:
https://youtu.be/bDhdNXOxccc

Right away you notice the improvement in their unison, beautiful lines, then sbs triple lutz just to make you gasp (small stumble), a bit sketchy on the twist catch and the throw was a bit wonky, but lovely. I find her absolutely wonderful, she skates so beautifully and with such presence. (He does too) They deserve a GP assignment IMO.

It's ridiculous how fast they're improving! So much potential to be world freakin' class! :kickass:

Wow! Their unison and line are quite remarkable. I can't believe what they have accomplished in such a short time.

^^ Thanks for sharing @Jeschke. Deardorff/Settlage had a wonderful competitive debut sp. They look very promising as a new team, especially at this early stage of their development. And the Two for the Ice article @clairecloutier linked is a nice complement to seeing D/S skate for the first time. :)

Ha ha, look at Max's skater cut-outs for fans (a project in conjunction with USFS) :D http://www.usfigureskatingfanzone.com/summerwithteamusa/

Definite improvements. But what I love most is Deanna/Nate's ambition and drive. It's great to see U.S. pairs teams pushing the envelope (and in the process pushing each other)! Deanna/Nate still need to develop more speed, but even in that area, they are showing some strides. Cool effort on those sbs 3-lutzes, and going into them with confidence. Deanna is so graceful and her gorgeous arm movements are divine, especially in that death spiral and in the combo spin. I really love the change of positions and dismount on their final lift too! Good luck to D&N!!!

It's nice to see Jessica & Zack back on the ice. I like their different sp music selection (Prince's Kiss), but they could definitely get more into expressing the music, especially with their opening moves (because the audience gets excited, and they don't do enough to play into that excitement). But it is their debut with this program and it should evolve more over the season. Wishing them well.

Loved seeing Jessica and Zack back out there. The music is great and over time should prove to be a fan favorite performance this season. Lots of fun.

Amazed with Deanna and Nate!!! Excited to see them grow throughout the season.

Sorry to see the fall on lift that Chelsea and Brian had. Hoping she is ok? Nice program overall. They need to connect more to the music and each other. They have had several seasons together now so I feel with music choice they need to display this.

Nica and Danny looked stronger after their senior short program debut at Broadmoor. Like the stronger music and they have a good connection.

Max and Winter look great in their debut. Impressive for a new team coming on to the scene. She is young though. Hope she doesn't out grow Max. Especially with the issues of finding a left handed skater.

The junior teams are looking good. Lots of teams age eligible. Making it really tough to see the dismal performance of senior team of Jacob and Allie. The jgp selection should be interesting. I believe there are only 8 spots and in my opinion the junior teams definitely did outshine the performance of the age eligible senior team.
