Anyone else watch the premiere tonight? I've been more impressed with the talent than I was at any point last year (a Cincinnati guy made the show! :cheer: ) and the coaches seem to have a really great chemistry. They're still ornery and always trying to one up each other but they've also been showing a mutual respect between each other and they've been so hilarious. What did you guys think of the season premiere tonight? That last girl was AMAZING and I cannot believe that she's only 13!

I enjoyed it. I could do with a bit less “let’s get Blake” and Kelly blabbering, but the talent level was quite high.

I'm not sure I like the 5th Coach twist. But does that mean we will have 13 at the start of the live shows?

I think it has promise. I like the fact that Adam doesn't play the wait till the last second before hitting the buzzer nonsense that the others like to do. That sometimes results in not ringing in at all when they actually meant to. The first person chosen by the 5th coach really deserved a buzzer but JHud was busy playing games with Kelly & they both let time run out.

Kelly needs to tone it down & Jennifer needs to promote her brand a lot less. If I hear JHud Productions one more time I'm going to barf. But I did enjoy the premiere. They found a lot of talent.

Last night's comeback artist is making me a little more accepting of the 5th coach twist. She is also Exhibit 1 on how picking the wrong song can be detrimental to your chances of a chair turn. She would have had multiple chair turns if she had picked the right song to begin with.

On another note, I'm getting tired of the teasers about "will this person be the one to get the comeback artist spot tonight." With the silhouettes posted, it is easy to see that they are not the comeback artist.

I hate every single thing about Jennifer Hudson, not the least of which is the constant invoking of "JHud Productions."

That drives me up a wall. I was sorry to see she was going to be on this year. Other than her I really enjoyed last night's show. Kelly's block was epic although the contestant's pick of Kelly over Blake was very ungracious: "since I can't have Jennifer I choose Kelly" or something like that. I can't believe she said that.

Fodder. You can pick which contestants the judges are already planning to pit against each other and eliminate.

That being said, there are some really good contestants this season. And, I didn't know a season 3 alum sings one of the signature songs in the Greatest Showman. Probably the one half the skaters will skate to next season.

The fifth coach doesn't really have to decide who should be the comeback artist. So far the ones chosen are the ones the judges say to 'come back'. Duh..

I didn't agree with putting the med student through to the comeback, unless they want pleasant fodder for the next round.

I haven't been able to watch this season yet. Are the "comeback" artists people from this year who didn't get a chair to turn, or singers from prior seasons?

No chairs... so far, it's been the ones that the judges have encouraged to audition again.

The talent pool this year is really good. There are very few singers who don't get at least 1 chair turn. Kelly still talks too much & JH still promotes her brand but Adam & Blake pretty much balance them out when they can get a word in. I wouldn't have turned for Blake's last guy (can't remember his name) who was a 1 chair turn but thought all the others deserved to go thru.

I was surprised that Adam was the only one who turned for the Jake guy. Very nice tone. I haven't seen all the auditions, but that was one of my favorite ones. I think it gets tougher when they get near the end of the blind auditions. I think he'll do very well.

Three battles last night! Two steals! The 1st battle was awesome. I'm at a point where I don't remember names but Kelly had a real problem deciding which fabulous singer she would keep. I chose the same but it was hard. I was glad the other singer was stolen. (But I couldn't stand the yarn extensions in her hair. I hate that look.) I don't know what Blake was thinking to steal the guy in the 3rd battle. I was surprised that he even got a chair turn in the 1st place & his battle didn't change my mind. Maybe Blake needs fodder for the knock-outs.

Blake should've stolen the duo. Maybe he stole Colton b/c he sang it differently than Blake did.

My fave blind auditions were the 15yr old that sang 'Danny's Song' and the Hawaiian dude. Glad that they are still there.
Jonathan Cain's daughter was not good at all. Don't know why she was chosen as the comeback artist. Maybe that's why she lost the battle round.

I love the battle rounds. I was surprised that Adam kept the 15 yr old & let go the 20? yr old. And then I was surprised that no one stole her. I thought both girls should have stayed in the comp.

So far Anthony, Jake, and maybe Tyke are my faves. Good looking young dudes that have a decent voice.

I've been having trouble with the names this season too but I will remember Reagan's name after her song in the Knockouts tonight. THAT was impressive! :cheer:

I looked for a thread when I started watching two weeks ago and didn’t see one.

Could only manage the first hour tonight. Mr Woodsman and chubby black lady with that incredible voice were stellar.

I liked Mr Woodsman too & was surprised that he didn't win his battle. I was glad he was stolen. Chubby lady was in the battle with 2 other people. I missed who dropped out of Kelly's team but I liked all 3 although I think Kelly picked the correct 2.
