"The Runthrough" podcast with Adam & Ashley

KMT did a good job with the Pairs Lore Part 1 this week. I’m sad she didn’t mention Underhill and Martini’s “Unchained Melody” program, though. Watching that for the first time on TV at my grandma’s house was a seminal moment in my figure skating fandom. I was so enthralled and could not believe they weren’t married to each other. I guess I shouldn’t make fun of the crazy V/M shippers lol.
i mean you didn't start a secret baby blog presumably so i think you're still good

who among us has not had to yell at a child in a session? Consider: sometimes it's a huge safety issue and these kids just don't get it.
I haven't so yelled but I don't skate and am not at these sessions but it does sound like a safety issue. I've seen videos of someone trying to do their program to music and some skaters just go floating across the ice anyway

I got my knee sprained by a kid who skated right into me (they were behind me and I was skating forward so I didn't even see them at all) and it's still janky so I had to get a lot more proactive about keeping kids out of my way hahaha

@Rukia It's dangerous to the kids too. Adult me absolutely trucked a little girl who had been practicing in a corner. She was in my blind spot as I went full speed and had been warned multiple times before that my (and other skaters') pattern crossed that spot.

OMG guys, I missed it 🤩 Did Wagner and Rippon scream at more eleven year olds to never return to an ice rink, and did their fans pretend they were "only" in their thirties who were hyper-competitive and therefore nothing better could be expected out of them???? I'm so worried it didn't happen yet, maybe they just "healed" too much?! We! Love! Our! Drama! Queens! Remember the bills for healing, my favorite queens!

When is the most recent podcast? Ashley was supposed to be a guest coach at our skating camp yesterday but was a no-show.
Maybe they saw she could barely skate without 50 crossovers, and canceled it for the sake of other skaters' - especially young skaters' - safety? 🤔

Not entirely sure of the rink etiquette in America, of course. But I wouldn't want her to be compelled to scream at children to never to return to ice rinks.

For the record, where I am, it wouldn't really matter what some "adult athlete" whose biggest achievement is testing out of some low level exam experiences in "public sessions". National level athletes and international level athletes would be held to different standards - but I can imagine why that's a bit too much of an expectation for others.

In Part 3 of Pairs Lore Kristen Moore-Towers explained her breakup with Dylan Moscovitch. She said that trusted advisors told her that there would be a rule change that the man's arms had to be straight up in a lift, and since Moscovitch couldn't physically straighten his arms, that rule change would decimate their lift points. I couldn't tell whether the rule was changed to the deduction being taken if he broke from his full extension, or if that had been the rule and there was no change to fully straightened arms, but it wasn't because she thought Moscovitch was too old to go to two more Olympics or, as the hosts put it about other teams, "Choosing love over winning."

There was lots of love in the episode for Ziegler and Kiefer, and KMT said that Ziegler was coming to Vancouver for a visit, and KMT would get to see her.

In addition she also said there were people close to Dylan that didn’t treat her well, so I think that helped make her decision easier.

So petty and sarcastic, I'm left with no choice but to stan. 🤩

Cannot wait for Ashley to explain why she never learned how to rotate jumps, how to spin, how to do basic skating, and how to choreograph programs more complex than 50 crossovers - stop - shoulder shimmy and wink. Along with why she never complained about her skating skills scores being higher than Mao Asada's at Boston Worlds (highest skating skill score in LP <3 ), and why this deserved the 4th highest skating skill score at 2013 worlds LP, because as we know, only the Russians are overscored and only Trusova ruined skating! Women's Lore Hype!

🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

Trusova did not ruin women's skating, Tutberidze did.

I will give you this: the last minute of Wagner's 2013 LP is a messy, dreadful, slow, overscored mess.
Wasn't this her tweet after Trusova's LP?

Now that I’ve said that, she puts in ZERO effort in the artistry of this program because she doesn’t have to. Technically she’s so far ahead that she can get away with just crossovers and it is hard to watch the sport head in that direction #WinterOlympics #FigureSkating

Rightly raked over the coals for her teammate Nathan Chen sharing a similar strategy - with a few well placed stumbles in both his programs, to boot.

Have to wonder what Wagner's excuse was for doing nothing but crossovers and low quality spins and basic skating. Is it because her cheated technique was barely ever caught and she got 4th highest SS scores despite falling in step sequences, three turning much of her turns, and tripping on crossovers that gave her that latitude? And was placed ahead of people like Asada despite visibly being far worse?

Weren't people like her also fans of Medvedeva compared to Zagitova? Despite Medvedeva being the first Tutberidze blueprint of really pushing the backloaded SP with zero relevance to music, and the 2+5 LP layout, with zero relevance to the music?

I don't buy it at all. I think people like her genuinely believe they're somehow above the criticism they level on others. A few "sassy" comments about her own skating (which half the fans on twitter interpreted as "comebacks" against "haters" to begin) are just pure coquetry.

I also don't believe they have any relevant knowledge of anything. Whatever pointless, ill-conceived opinion is going on in their group chat hiveminds, that's what they spew.

Yeah she was one of the OG skaters to ruin technique. Go look at Kimmie Meisner's as well - her +3Ts used to be obviously cheated, yet never called. Neither had any artistic talent either. Russians only followed suit, because why shouldn't they take advantage of bad technique escaping callers? Meissner was cheating jumps when the current Russian girls weren't even born yet, and was world champion when Medvedeva was 6.
