I wonder who's available for Michael Parsons? Not that many elite US female ice dancers without partners. Hope he doesn't have to find someone outside USA and deal with citizenship issues.
From the way I interpreted her post it sounds like he might already have someone since she says that she looks forward to cheering him on, but that might be completely incorrect

Rachel Parsons has decided to step away from the sport in order to treat her eating disorder. Best of luck to her in caring for her health, and to Michael in continuing.
Good for her to have the courage to step away even though they had a bright future in the sport. Health before everything else and it is good many skaters are now coming out talking about all those issues whether struggling with depression or eating disorders. I wish her a swift and total recovery, may she finally feel great looking at herself in the mirror.

Sad thing is she's a beautiful woman, if only she could have gotten out of her head. Tessa Virtue needs to start a lecture series to encourage ice dancers to embrace their individual beauty. Not everyone needs to look like a reed, it's your ability to dance that makes the difference, within reasonable limits of course. But I was literally saddened by the comment "I hate what I see when I look in the mirror".

Think she’s working on something like that with Nivea.

He used to date Mackenzie Bent, she's a great skater but Canadian and in University now I think.

Over in the US ice dance thread there's been discussion of the recent happenings with the US junior teams, which further exacerbates what a huge turnover we're going to see in the international junior competitions next year.

- 8 of the top 12 teams at 2019 Junior Worlds have either moved up, aged out, broken up, or are otherwise not listed as competing. The exceptions are Nguyen/Kolesnik, Ushakova/Nekrasov, Kazakova/Reviya, and Demougeot/Le Mercier.
- 8 of the 14 teams that won medals on the 2018-19 JGP, similarly, will not be competing junior next year for a mix of the same reasons. The remaining teams are Nguyen/Kolesnik, Ushakova/Nekrasov, Kazakova/Reviya, Shanaeva/Naryzhnyy, Ivanenko/Karpov and Davis/Smolkin.

... even though they had a bright future in the sport

Sadly the sport of figure skating, in its current competitive incarnation, does not offer too many talented skaters 'a bright future.' It offers a slog of hard work for not a lot of competitive chances to develop and few windows of opportunity to break through to the top 'bragging rights' senior competitive ranks. And no competitive professional opportunities to speak of when eligible careers wind down.

Congrats to Alex Benoit who has been admitted for the MA program at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. It’s one of the most prestigious schools for acting and theatre out there and some of the most famous Brit actors got their start there.

Thanks for sharing. Congratulations to Alex Benoit. Wow, what an honor and a privilege. It means he has what it takes! Go to London young man! :)

I love all the pics and Instagram stories of Alex's brother's dog, Sadie! Since Alex is one of Sadie's best buds, I'm sure they're gonna miss each other. But maybe Alex will be able to get back to Chicago every so often to visit. Good luck to Alex, and break a leg/ have a great career in acting!

Really enjoyed most of the RDs at WTT :)

SinKats skated their best today, IMO - very secure, with great control and nice presentation.

Pity about Guillaume’s little stumble on the twizzles , but again I enjoyed that a lot

I may not be a fan, but WeaPo’s tango remains one of my favourite programes of the season.

I enjoyed G/F all season long and am glad that they got the scores they deserve (I would have had them even in third), but considering politics it is still a bit surprising to see them ahead of WeaPo

I will miss G/G's Tango in particular and WeaPo's. These teams know how to translate emotions to the ice. Scoring I will never understand as SinKats also had their little errors and yet a season best and in comparison to others are a bit Davis and White for me in terms of musicality. But eh, nothing to complain about, let us enjoy the rest of the competition.

What happened in WEAPO's SD. Scores show their pattern bad( I did not watch it) did they really make mistakes on the pattern?

WEAPO were smoother than silk but they got only levels 3 and 2 for the RT. But ultimately I believe the judges are no longer interested in them. But hey, I'm no expert :)

RD WTT 2019
I am looking for a replay to see if I can see anything. The tech controller is US Linda Leaver and the tech specialist is Polish and the French and Italian judges both gave PCS's way lower than the rest of the panel. Interesting.

This doesn't look really good for Canada. The shuffle and dump campaign is in full swing but hey new mind blowing talent is always just around the corner :)

I think you're right. I noted earlier in the season that G&P had a huge opportunity to step in front with W&P not skating the grand prix. That may have been a better situation for Canada than W&P being shuffled back at this point... I'm really hoping the Danadians start shooting up the top 10!

Why is H/D now firmly behind S/K? Even with arguably weaker programs I’m not comfortable with that ranking.

Well, as Bigbird said...

Though I am impressed at teams like Chock & Bates making it hard for the judges to just toss them aside. Looking forward to the fight H&D bring next hear to hopefully regain ground!

SinKats had great material in terms of their RD bar none with the exception of P/C, S/D, H/D (original version) and they executed it with great speed and sharpness, did I feel or sense a dance? No, but maybe that was just a matter of personal taste. But it shows them off well. Now as for the FD, IMHO, I found it empty and bland, but the judges loved the speed and elegance and lightness, regardless. With Each performance they polished it and made it smoother. Albeit by the midway mark I'm asking myself is this it? But the judges gave them the marks. What you gonna do? Other teams must look and learn.

H/D were too indecisive this year and they paid for it. H/D just kept on tinkering and tinkering with both programs. In hindsight when you need to tinker so much it's a sign that the program(s) may not be working and this is why they fell behind, they looked really tired and sloppy this entire season, IMHO. So yes let's see what the future brings.

C/B's RD was ridiculously choreographed, they needed to have gone back to Antonio Najarro who did the wonderful Paso Doble for them in 2015. As I said before Chock was in the air so much all she needed was her cape and an invisible plane. Their size difference was used to perfection in their lovely FD but the judges just sort of wrote them off, I'm still finding that a tough pill to swallow. Is it that they were tight and not at their best or are the judges sending a signal that only one particular type of ice dancing will earn top marks, I still don't understand their low FD scores from worlds. I know SinKats has improved but to my untrained eye that Elvis programme showed off a much improved C/B as well so couldn't they have gotten good marks for their FD? Is their anything that can be done to help things turn around for them? We'll see.

H&D got a technical panel that recognized that they can't hit the features for level 4 on the TR, just like every tech panel other than worlds.

If they were a Russian couple, people would be calling their high levels and results at worlds political.

Levels didn't matter at worlds because everyone understood that the top teams had plateaued. So everything was decided simply by GOE and personal tastes. The sooner we realize how subjective this sport really is we'll stop arguing or complaining about scores and placements. It's best to just enjoy the teams you love. Now if anyone beats my P/C without them tripping over themselves 3 or 4 times, I'll be the biggest hypocrite of them all, BTW. :D

Yes they were and yet people were still moaning and bitching about Russian politics

We need to take a step back. Ice dance is a marathon not a sprint and I'm sure Haggie, Patch and Marie France have learned a lot this last half season. Hopefully their charges have too. Man, when the fix is on the one team that I could count on to bring the skates and the attitude are no longer skating, the Shibs. But never you fear people hopefully it will get better with each new season.

Skate Canada dumped them , the want Gilles and Poirier , the Danadians and Lajoie and Lagha at worlds in Montreal , if weapo continue look for the schocker 4th place position at nationals next year they need to retire to avoid humiliation.
