From what I remember, that actually ended when TSL publicized videos of P/C's FD from practice in the beginning of the 2016/2017 season (even before French Masters) when they were explicitly told not to. It's a much more serious breach of trust. But the thing with V/M not practicing at the same rink as P/C was later, before/in the beginning of the 2017/2018 season, wasn't it? Or do I remember it wrong? Why would Lease have been present at practice at Gadbois after what he had previously done, though?
It was H/D's FD, that TSL broadcast on their fb page. Apparently this was not allowed. They did film P/C's practice of the blues if I remember well, but they were authorized to do so.

Sometime after Jan 2017 Dave did a great deal of groveling, ass kissing, penance, maybe even confessing to people who he had accused and offended in his national's rant as the most incendiary part of his national's rant was removed and Sandra Bezic plus Meaghan from pairs have since gone on his show. I would have loved to have been a fly on a wall for those conversations.

For anyone who hasn't read this: https://deadspin.com/the-most-controversial-voice-in-figure-skating-cant-sto-1822879133

Within minutes Wagner had withdrawn from the competition and Lease was working his iPhone, trying to find out what had happened. Soon he had a former national champion on speakerphone, giving him a theory about how the color and placement of Wagner’s Ace bandage proved she’d been planning her withdrawal as a stunt from the get-go.

...

He’d casually send me screengrabs of text conversations he was having with other people, including skaters.

So clearly skaters are more than happy to give Dave information/encourage him for whatever motivations of their own. Great way to get information out there which could interfere with your rivals. If TSL wasn't fed information by people in the skating world the gossip would dry up pretty quick.

^^^ Maybe the TSL-related discussion could be continued in the TSL thread? Just a thought.
For those interested, Camerlengo is currently listed on the Chesapeake Open site as coaching Aldridge & Eaton, Wolfkostin & Zhao, and it looks like Sara Zhao & Caleb Niva (which would be a new partnership).
Great news for Sara :) who last competed with her brother Howard at 2016 U.S. Nationals (7th in Intermediate). I assume it must have been tough for her the past few years, looking for a suitable partner while her brother found a great one right away (he won both the Intermediate and Novice titles with Wolfkostin).

I didn't know Joti Polizoakis has a third citizenship (Czech) in addition to German and Greek: http://icepartnersearch.com/showbio.php?i=6298
I this interview in February he talked about his roots, how he started figure skating:
http://www.pragerzeitung.cz/index.php/home/sport/21558-tanzen-ist-wie-traeumen

On a sidenote: he mentioned, that Kavita has a Indian and a Swiss passport. (Both were born in Germany, therefore they decided to skate for Germany)

Asked about his goals: winning a medal at Olys next time.

Well, Joti, find yourself a new partner! Unverzüglich .

FS-gossips translated Flade/Ermolina interview with Anjelica Krylova
Anjelika Krylova: I would like to grow high-class athletes from a young generation
- Do you already have an understanding who, in addition to Oleg Volkov, will join your team, what specialists would you like to invite?
– My idea is to create a good team of specialists. This is a question number 1. I have an understanding how to do this, but it takes time: to try, to look at people in work, and after that decide who is right and who is not.
In addition to coaches, of course, we need a choreographer. Now in figure skating all that is connected with ballet has gone into the background. Perhaps, only in Russia, coaches remain staunch adherents of the “classics”. But I am a man of “old traditions” and I believe that lines, beauty, positions should be the basis of everything. In modern figure skating, you can not do without acrobats. Lifts, tricks – all this is necessary, especially at the stage of preparation of the program. You need a choreographer, because it’s very hard for one person to make programs for all students, choreography work is a big thing. Plus a sound director, a costume master … Psychologists who are used very widely in America. I do not know how it’s now in Russia, in my time it was believed that the coach is the chief psychologist for his athletes. It is clear that we need coaches-assistants who will help with small pairs. They should be experienced specialists who also know dances, technique. In short, many people are needed.
I arrived in Moscow in early April. Immediately joined the work. Of course, I was worried if we could work together with Oleg Volkov, because before that we knew each other only by competitions, where we came with our students. But everything turned out well.
Pasquale Camerlengo will come in the summer and help our group, because our joint concept, our work in America had a good result. Now Pasquale started working in Detroit together with Igor Shpilband. He’s a good choreographer, you can see it from the programs that he made for many top figure skaters.

Per GS, the Chinese teams of Hong Chen & Yan Zhao and Linshu Song & Zhuoming Sun have both split (both teams were essentially #2 and #3 in China as of two years ago).

A new team has been formed with Hong Chen & Zhuoming Sun.

Updates to the technical handbook, confirming amongst other things new definitions for PCS, and the revised key points for the tango. I like the requirement that a program with a fall can't be given 9s or 10s in PCS, and I wonder if some form of this will be carried over into singles? Still not clear how the "each partner given a level but the twizzles evaluated as a unit" thing works, has anyone figured it out?

The updated scale of values is also out, scores will look very different next year with the +/-5 GOE

The wording changes very slightly to include "falls" preventing 9s to be awarded, so I think you can still get 9s if you have one fall or serious error(whatever their definition of that is) but not more.

The difference in point values between the levels seems very small. Only 1.5 points differentiate a L1 pattern from a L4 one. That's a gap easily bridgeable with GOE. I'm also uncertain about the twizzles and one foot step sequences being graded individually.

It'll certainly be interesting to see.

What’s the current point differential between a L1 pattern and a L4?

Point differentials have been lessened for all elements, esp step sequences. I assume that the reason is to give more power to the judging panel and less to the technical panel. Which feels like a way to prop up (politically) favored teams and hold down less-favored teams, which would basically move the sport back toward pre-IJS days. :(

The difference between a L1 and a L4 rhumba pattern was 1.8, which I already thought was too small. Reducing it further, combined with the expanded GOE range is something I'm not happy about. Especially with all the fuss over whether to include the rocker as a key point- congratulations, you're one of the very few teams in the world capable of executing this turn correctly and getting a L4, here's your half point as a reward!

It did make all the difference for teams ranked 3-8 but the GOE range was still only -3 to +3. Reducing it and making the GOE range bigger will minimize the impact of the tech calls, which is maybe what the ISU wants. Maybe they rather have the judges have more say in the rankings and have the tech panel have less of a say because it was getting to the point where the tech panel was determining the rankings. I’m not saying whether it was bad or good just it was what it was.

It's awful in my opinion, in sport where subjectivity or often pure politics decide placement.

I think the whole +5 GOE thing is designed for singles solely in mind so they can give higher marks to good quality triples to bridge the gap between quads.

I am surprised that they are reducing the points differences for the levels in dance because I wasn't really aware there was a trouble with it? It's hardly like a team with high level tech is running away with the wins like what happens in singles. Aside from the slight inconvenience of a broken dress hook, everyone the powers that be wants to win, wins in ice dance.

If i was a top team guaranteed +5 GOE I don't know if I'd even be that fussed with trying to get that rocker.

I'm curious to see if we end up with a situation where difficulty is downgraded (even more) with a focus on getting that GOE, because it's seems far more valuable than levels.

GOE in ice dance is basically PCS protected by the allegedly indisputable label of 'TES'. I'm curious to see if these rule changes will alter things in dance or just protect the status quo.

We had all been wondering if the rule changes would try to promote diversity in dance. But now with basically every team training in Gadbois and TES being downgraded in favour of PCS / PCS pretending to be TES, maybe not?

Yeah, whatever the new values are and what the GOE ranges are, the most important thing is that the judges and callers like you. Then you'll always get the benefit-of-the-doubt even when you miss levels and such. You also get to enjoy a PCS cushion. Sure the PCS scores are closer than ever in ice dance, but those little things do add up and make all the difference in terms of rank.

It was already impossible for a team to try to rise in the ranks of ice dance by raising technical base level of a program. (Unlike in singles where this can happen with great impact).

Now it's even more impossible to get a technical edge. Sort of makes total sense why all the teams are flocking to the protection of the favoured Gadbois in these circumstances. Who would dare try to stand alone when it surely will become even bigger of a popularity contest?

Have split or have been split? ;)

Could be both. Chen and Zhao were second two years ago and competed at Cup of China this past season, but then they seemed to disappear. Did not attend 4CCs, and as far as I can tell, didn't attend Chinese Nationals either. (I only know the top three teams from Nationals, but one would have expected them to be there). So as far as I can tell, it's possible they split mid-season or someone suffered an injury.

Song & Sun were at both Nationals and 4CCs. (I find him to be entertaining. It is possible he was reshuffled to skate with Chen, though I can't say I remember her more than his former partner).

I did find the Chinese junior team entertaining last season.
