Ah, yes, the "teacher's pets" of the ice dance world. My theory is that it has something to do with tech panel members and judges wanting to stay on the good side of Ms. Halina Gordon-Poltorak, chairman of the Technical Committee for Ice Dance. I'll let you guess where she's from.
 
I really liked G/F tonight thought they would have scored more in the high scores lotto :rolleyes: but cool. P/C were sublime though, thought they would have gotten closer to 91 haha, but selfishly, I think I prefer the green dress. :D
 
Seeing G/F's rankings after reading the initial PBP reports here make me not want to see what I missed out on last night.
 
Guignard/Fabbri got lower PCS than Gilles/Poirier (not by much, but still) despite skating in the final group, so assuming the latter don’t make visible errors I’m expecting them to leapfrog up to seventh after the free, when all the choreo elements and lack of a pattern give the judges even more control over the outcome.
 
Note to the ice dancers when you have a panel stacked against you, you cannot be tight or even give them an inch. To S/Ks and S/Bs credit they were very sharp and error free. They skated this the way it should be skated like a technical dance with all out attack, just saying. Everybody needs to bring their A game next time and I think they will.

Weaver/Poje probably had the most consistent rankings with the majority of judges putting them 3rd. Everyone else has scattered rankings ranging from 2nd place to 9th place.

This is indeed all over the place except for P/C. I'm surprised at the Russian judge giving them a higher score than the French one ! Tomorrow should be quite the event with so little between the scores.

They were not error free.
At least Nikita wasn't. He had a very visible freaky moment in the twizzles. Another team lost 1 level on it, but not him. That is the diff between second and 7 th place.

The Australian judge definitely didn’t get the memo about the Poles.

All but 2 judges had G&F 7th or 8th. The judges seemed unified on that. :rolleyes:

And yet the French judge did not repay the favour instead they went to their best efforts to score the Russians low putting S/K and S/B in 6th and 7th place!

The French judge didn’t go out of their way to help Lauriault/Le Gac either, though the Ukrainian was a fan.

I think Fournier Beaudry/Sorensen are well on their way toward passing Hawayek/Baker in the standings — probably not here, but next season. The PCS gap from 4CC is already closing rapidly.

Their results at the GPF and Euros were based on the RD. They lost the FD to S&B at the GPF and the FD to S&K at Euros.

They're not moving up unless there are *major* splats from teams from more favored federations.
 
Looking at the protocols G/F's PCS are really undeserving of what they put out there. They should have had above 9 in SS and transitions. They should have definitely been a solid third.

I might skip the FD in this case until after I see the results and choose to watch depending how it ends up. I'll most likely just watch Papadakis/Cizeron. I cannot with G/F's results here.
 
Looking at the GOE for Papadakis and Cizeron, of the 45 GOE marks distributed by the judges, they got only five 3s. Everything else was a 4 or 5, including all 5s from Judge #9.

They've had better connection at GPF but the euro RD put them back on the "let's be cautious" skating. Sad because we lost a lot there.
 
My ranking would have been 1.PC , 2.S&K, 3.W&P a lot of judges agreed with me on weapon unfortunately their weak twizzles is a huge liability they lose a point in GOE which can make the difference between 2nd and 5 in a very close competition, if a north American team medals I am banking on them their FD is superior to hubbel and Donahue.

I think the placements might be locked barring errors considering the PCS given.
