I'm happy that the pattern is back, but I'm surprised that the IDTC went with such a difficult one as the Golden Waltz. I wonder what changed, because Rettstatt seemed so adamant to get rid of the pattern for Seniors.
It will be a challenge for a lot of teams, but it's finally a decision made by the IDTC that I like. Therefore, I can't wait for next season and watch some beautiful Waltz RDs.

Maybe it is a shot across the bow of skaters who complained about 120 bpm this season.- "This might be a good time to retire if you did not like 120 bpm: the Golden is 186 bpm."

I don't know that they were upset about the 120bpm requirement so much as it being required for the WHOLE of the RD. Had they been able to pair it with a slower section, I think the '90s RD concept would have worked much better.

I really want someone to skate to the Greek waltz on that list.
But, I actually like the Meghan Trainor song and wouldn't be upset if someone chose that. I just want to see a VARIETY. There's room for everything and a waltz tempo is so common across musical genres.

It wouldn’t work for the golden waltz. Could a slow waltz not be the other rhythm? Or does it need to be something that is not a waltz at all?

(Having been to dozens of Greek weddings I can assure you this is never actually played.

That would be a great choice. I'm not usually a fan of Shostakovich, but that is one of his works I really like.
I'm a broken record on this topic so please skip as needed, but they did a waltz for their exhibition a few years ago and it was nicely done. Yes, an exhibition is very different from a competition program but they would both also have been required to pass all the UK dance tests (NOBODY gets to skip them) and that includes a number of waltzes at all levels. Will waltz be a good fit for their usual style? Probably not, but I don't think it will hold them back in any significant way, and I'll be interested to see what they do with it.
I like Tango, but I do hope we don't see a large number of Wangos. Having said that, there is a ballroom dance called Tango Vals which is basically Tango but to 3/4 timing, so it could be made interesting.

Putting in my vote now for at least one team to waltz to "Sibella" from A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder and at least one to attempt "Your Obedient Servant" from Hamilton. Preferably paired with "The Ten Duel Commandments" as the other rhythm.

One of my favorite waltzes is from Prokofiev's Cinderella, and it doesn't sound any slower than the cuts I listened to from the list, but I don't know if it meets the bpm requirements.
And, of course, Chopin had a few that should meet the requirements, but I'm not sure they'd be great for Golden Waltz. There are sections of Ravel's Valses nobles et wentimentales that would.
I just want Lajoie/Lagha to skate to a recording of Lagha playing the waltz. And maybe for the different rhythm, they could switch to Bach, because Bach composed all the dances of his time.
