The Dance Hall 13: When You Dance on the Ice and Your Feet Twizzle Twice, That's Amore

It is. "Get Ready for This" is very often played at sporting events in the US (and presumably Canada), like during starting lineups when the players are introduced, while the "Ole Ole Ole" song is associated internationally with both soccer/football and hockey. They've said they want to focus on the sport aspect of skating with the program. To me it sort of feels like they were invited to do a hype-up performance at a hockey game, which may be entirely what they were going for.
Thanks, I remeber actually hearing 'Get Ready for this' in some hockey games etc from North America. I just mostly remember it from 2 Unlimited cassette I bought in my youth :respec:
The program has a really nice idea, but somehow it falls short for me.

In general I expected lot more Eurodance for this season. There are not even any Prodigy programs I think?? Raves were big thing in the 90s. And no Ace of Base, though perhaps that one is not viewed sufficiently 'high energy'. I was especially disappointed that Reitan/Majorov didn't choose any of the gazillion Swedish Eurodance acts. Where's their patriotism? :(

Exactly what I was thinking. None of the music I listened to in the nineties is used for RD. No Massive Attack, Tricky, Prodigy.
No techno at all. It was the sound of the decade. There was just such variety in techno. I've lived for decades in Berlin and in the 90ies half the world came for the love parade, even quite a few when it was still small in Kreuzberg

For me (as I've probably written in this thread?) it's the lack of Brit pop, which was huge for a few years there and can be a lot of fun. Europop is also sadly lacking. And if everyone wanted to do Latin, why not Shakira?

Eric Heiden in the 1980 Lake Placid Olympics.

I was a little kid and so impressed he could skate so fast and win so many medals.
Wow. I cannot remember so well, but I think it was seeing Oksana Bauil for the first time in what, 1994. Imprinted in my mind. Artistry through the roof. She has had her struggles, but she is a gem, if only.

It's the final countdown. Ha, how many times have we done this? Does anyone remember their first Olympic Games, memory?
Sarajevo, but I don't think I watched figure skating then. I do remember seeing Katarina Witt in 1988, and the media fuss around her in both games. Didn't really get it then...

There is one Shakira at least, I forgot who they were.
Brit pop is huge, but perhaps not as much associated with dancing and clubbing?

This one is going to be debated for a long time, and I think FB/C are going to be shredded to pieces by the US media in the aftermath of this

Please add links. I don't know much about ice dance but I thought when there was a mistake on a twizzle, they were dinged a level, not quality. Well, that too. Commentators were very quiet when the scores were announced. Hmmmm...!

Well shouldn't the judging be shredded? Why go after the ice dancers?

2nd place Russian team skated to Prodigy this year and that is by far my favourite of the season.

Much like the Kerrs skating to Linkin Park in 2010 was my fave FD.

Hmm...well. I disagree and agree with some points raised. First, am gutted for Lilah and Lewis, the pressure affected them and that's a lot to handle. Second, am as happy as a lark for P2, that program finally lived up to its promise. Maddie and Evan were crisp and neat, but IMHO, lukewarm and not memorable. If the judges were fair, they'd have put P2 second in the FD. C/B had neither the passion nor the drive of a Flamenco. It was more style than substance, and they were very slow and cautious. FB/C had a minor out of synch moment on the twizzles, but that's about it. The judges had no choice. But that's just how I see it.

If you are askiing about Guillaume he was dinged a level. He got L3 on the twizzle.

FB/C and C/B and G/P all had the same base level in the FD: 46.79

So please, correct me if I am wrong, but I believe Chock and Bates have won previous competitions with mistakes and been given the benefit of the doubt on the speed and flow of their twizzles. Guillaume was penalized for the twizzle error.
I mean that is why I find it hard to feel sorry for them. Are they not 3 time reigning world champions where they fell at least in two of the FDs?
