The Dance Hall 13: When You Dance on the Ice and Your Feet Twizzle Twice, That's Amore

Circling back around to Kishimoto/Savitskiy (Kiskiy?) -- I guess they're at IAM, since Sara was already there and they're training in Canada. I hope they get really good programs. Also, what are the German citizenship requirements? I assume they'll have to spend some time in Germany for Sara to get hers?
In the past, when foreign skaters acquired German citizenship, they all had to establish residency in Germany in addition to pass the German language test and citizenship test. This makes me wonder how both Sara and Grigorii want to manage to do that while training abroad. The other issue is that besides Sinicyn, Germany doesn't really have any decent ice dance coaches. At least not on the level G/R and K/S will need once they enter the Senior ranks. There is Caruso in Berlin, who coaches mostly Juniors and Vitali Schulz in Dortmund. There maybe others, but I think those are the schools that coach most of the German dance teams.

While I'm glad both Darya and Michail have found new partners, they are now on a more difficult path, at least regarding the Olympics.

F-B/C are no longer on the music rotation list for Nebelhorn practice (on the Sportity app)…

Nor are B/S but their withdrawal is confirmed on the USFS assignment list
I was considering paying for the all access stream for Nebelhorn, but now I am rethinking that, as it was mostly to see Fournier-Beaudry/Cizeron and Fear/Gibson go head to head early on.

Panels of the week

JGP Baku
John Millier (USA) as controller.
Benjamin Blum (Germany) and Helen Prior (Great Britain) as specialists.
"Minimal" panel of judges. Only 6. Not as European as many panels (USA, Canada and China present).
Prior was at JGP Riga and Bolero Cup (Junior) this season.

Nepela
Akos Phetes (Hungary) as TC. With Grinkova (Slovakia) and Anna Krytskaya (Poland, ex Belarus) as TSs
Grinkova served at JGP Ankara and Bolero Cup this season.

Nebelhorn
Marcin Kozubek (Poland) as TC. With Candice Towler Green (Great Britain) and Christian Nuechtern (Germany) as TSs.
Towler Green was at Bolero Cup (Senior) and Lombardia Trophy.
Kozubek was also in the Bolero Cup panels

I wonder if teams are getting tripped up by "Remixed and/or remastered music, including cover versions, is permitted" wording in the RD rules?
I think it’s also the preceding language rather than just the remix/remaster part:
Any music is possible as long as it was released, either originally or as a cover version in the 1990s…

Just a Girl was originally released in 1995.

ISU needs to have clearer language in the technical documentation if this isn’t the intended interpretation. I’m not surprised teams are confused by it.

Ironically, Yellowjackets is a celebration of the 90s. It takes place in the 90s. It stars a bunch of iconic 90s actresses.

But the cover version was not released in the 1990s.
Then why not simplify the sentence to “Any music is possible as long as it was released, either originally or as a cover version in the 1990s”?

I’m not arguing that it’s not indeed a violation, but instead the ISU’s language is ambiguous enough that multiple interpretations are reasonable and that lack of clarity hurts the athletes.

Especially when they seem to be fine with using music that been generated by soulless robots in 2025 as long as it rips off music that actual humans created in the 1990s.

I don’t find it confusing? To me, it clearly states any original or cover version released in the 1990s, so someone could choose a 1960s song as long as the cover version they use was released in the 1990s. 🤷🏻‍♀️

This is the worst RD season I can remember except maybe for the tango year.
I have no things to say other than it’s time to call a rhythm dance theme requirements violation for Shawn Rettstatt
Add Kaitlyn Weaver to the mix while you are at it...
Better be careful, these posts might be "annoying" to someone since you're talking about the IDTC ruining the discipline. 🤷‍♂️ /sarcasm
