The Dance Hall 13: When You Dance on the Ice and Your Feet Twizzle Twice, That's Amore

Is this about the FD?

I think it shows technical brilliance (largely from him) and beautiful quality of movement (from both).

If you asked me what they were trying to express, I'd think for two seconds before finding myself slipping into a coma out of boredom.
Well, if you bothered to look at when the post was made, you'd know my quoted comments were about the RD.

Moving on...

For what it's worth, I agree with you completely about how boring and sleep-inducing their FD is, lol.

I really like Lag/Caf, something about how they glide, and their joy. Infectious. I really like Lop/Bri's music but he seemed to be having an off day. I get that D/LM may be trying to fill the void left by Del/Sch but their skating is somewhat shallow, I preferred Natacha and Arnaud to them if only their RD wasn't so light, I would have had D/LM in fourth. But overall, the depth of French ID is impressive.

If only the ISU would give them a decent RD theme that shows off their skills.

The competition at Grand Prix de France will be epic. I'm so looking forward to the showdown among FB/C, F/G, and G/F. With a few other teams who could play spoiler, if one of the top teams should falter.

I'm curious to see the scoring at Nebelhorn, where both F/G and FB/C will compete. They usually have pretty tough tech panels. I remember that one season (I think it was 23/24) where nearly every team received base level or level 1 on their PSt.

Just 1 month away, Nebelhorn will be epic!

As much as I didn’t want to like FB/C, I thought the FD was lovely. I do think I could find myself bored after seeing it a few times but I’m sure they will keep adding difficulty. The RD is a miss. It definitely adds some suspense to what has been a really predictable top 5.

Tried to work out how much of FB/C's FD was spent in hold. Maybe 40 seconds in total? 15 in closed hold? I know it's the way all of ID is heading, but really not for me.
I think for me problem isn't even the hold content, but with Cizeron's stuff it really all looks the same.

Which has nothing to do with how they should be scored or whatever. But it's why I just kind of lost interest with P/C to begin...

Fournier-Beaudry/Cizeron RD did not look finished to me. I was shocked by the lack of close holds, the distance between them and the amount of two foot skating in it. There were places where they came to dead stop and just posed or vogued with their arms, which is a huge weakness. I don't think they will get very far with this RD unless they add a lot more to it.

The FD looked much better. It looked polished and like thought and intention had gone into the placement of elements. It had a seamless quality that the RD lacked.

FD - not that much going on, but Oly`s 6 months away. Time to fill it out. There were some lovely positions, close-to-the ice glides. Big problem for me is HER. This is unkind, but she looked like a rag doll in his arms. Whatever there was. was Cizeron. Presence - THAT can`t be developed in 6 months.

I absolutely disagree with this. Laurence Fournier-Beaudry has always had a lot of presence on ice. She is very expressive, has great quality of movement, wonderful arms, musicality. Either you have never seen her with Sorensen or we saw/are seeing something totally different. Furthermore, there is no way how she can be a rag doll in anyone's arms, including Cizeron, as she has wonderful skating skills - probably not on Cizeron's level yet, but definitely one of the best, if not the best, of all current female ice dancers, plus, her core strength is amazing, also demonstrated in the lifts executed by them in this FD (even though her lifts with Sorensen tended to be more "acrobatic"/visibly difficult).

P/C's amazing short dance at the Olympics included a lot of posing and "voguing with their arms". It can work if done properly.
