I didn't say I agreed with it. I was just translating the intent.

I prefer Tuk over any of the other Russian women just for the longevity factor.
Liza has done a great job hanging in there not getting buried when she had her tough years after winning worlds. Timing is everything in figure skating. Now she can compete with all of them except one.

OMG these photos of Baby Tuk. I hope she can maintain her focus at Russian Nats and whatever possible skate off that may happen. It seems like she is a good place mentally but it is so easy to lose focus or become nervous so close to the finish line. I don't think she is a lock for this team but she has actually as 3 year body of work in which she has consistently performed well internationally and is finally earning reputation scores with the judges. I hope this goodwill is noticed by the Fed.
Agreed.

A lot will depend on Sasha and if she's healthy and If the Fed thinks she can score 230 to 260 points internationally. That is a big if.

She is so beautiful!

Thanks for the link to the interview. How young she looked and yet his mature was her thinking.
And there end her Olympic chances. What a shame.
And everything else most likely. Doesn't she want to go to school and become a physician. I don't see her fighting on with the Russian Ladies.

OH!!!!! Let's get her to skate for US :)

I highly doubt Tuk is delighted, but for all the Tuk haters, she is proving to be the smartest of them all. She's taking care of her body and it really can be "the last one standing" who makes it on that team. Tuk is looking more and more like a smart decision. I feel awful for Kostorynaia, but hopefully she can look at someone like Tuk and feel inspired to make that 4 year journey if this year doesn't work out. In fact, she may have injured herself due to Team Tutberidze pushing her to land more difficult elements. I think both she and Trusova would have been better off staying with Plushenko, though politically the Russian fed sent them a different message. I think he had enough time under Mishin and in his own career to know how to pace an athlete.
I think you are correct about Tub. She has had how many injured skaters this year - 3 that I can think of. Alena Kostornaia, Anna Shcherbakova, Anna Shcherbakova - and that is just this last season. Would could look also at Medvedeva and Yulia Lipnitskaya.

The thing that Tuk that has been great, is that she seems to know her body and where/when she can push.

IMO Tub pushes (and gets great results) but in the long run, these kids bodies are being sacrificed. Doesn't seem to be much concern of training your athlete for long term health as well as results now.

Aliona got injured. Bradie has been injured all year. Rika injured for how long? It's a part of figure skating unfortunately. And then you put the everyday life pressure of the virus on top of everybody and it makes things tougher.

At this point it's no sure thing about the season that we'll have a conclusion. Scary.

I quote this from another forum:

The status of the participants at Russian Nationals right now is:

7 skaters will return:
Anna Shcherbakova, Kamila Valieva, Alexandra Trusova, Maiia Khromykh, Elizaveta Tuktamysheva, Sofia Samodurova, Anastasiia Guliakova

2 skaters will make a comeback:
Kseniia Sinitsyna, Valeria Shulskaya

9 skaters are newcomers:
Sofia Muravieva, Adelia Petrosian, Anastasia Zinina, Sofia Samodelkina, Veronika Yametova, Anastasia Morozova, Veronika Peterimova, Ksenia Gushchina, Polina Sviridenko

10 skaters from last year we won't see:
Daria Usacheva, Elizaveta Nugumanova, Ksenia Tsibinova, Maria Talalaikina, Anna Frolova, Stanislava Molchanova, Anastasia Tarakanova, Arina Onishchenko, Stanislava Konstantinova, Valeria Kostina - they will all be missed

And we wont see Alëna Kostornaia either as she is out again this year.

It's quite a line-up, half of the field are newbies.

Shulskaya moved from Plushenko to Davydov. I had missed that. Was there any background information at the time?

I wonder if she has been ill or injured. She has not competed this season yet. Or maybe she is sitting her year out, so that she can skate for another country.
It's got to be transferring to another country for Anna. Unless she has a serious injury no one talks about there's no reason for her not to skate this season. She's a super beautiful skater so I think she will have a few countries to choose from. But after what happened to Talalakinas transfer falling through who knows.

Belarus recruited Nastya a couple years ago for a potential federation transfer but that did not happen because nastya wanted to stay with the motherland. I think Belarus would be a good option for Anya.

They either had to have a senior GP event, qualify through the Russian Cup series or make the JGPF. This is why Nugu won't be there either. :(
Yet it makes me so mad that Nugu finished 3rd among seniors at Russian nationals last year and that's an incredible. She finished in front of the Empress! And Nugu got nothing out of such an accomplishment. Not a GP and she should have had one not a challenger and she should have had two. How can this girl possibly keep her motivation after doing the best in her career at Russian nationals last December and then having it lead to nothing and she's on the national team too as a reserve?

Thanks.

KV really has changed a lot in the last year. She looked unbeatable this year heading into the GPF which evaporated right before our eyes and I wonder if this kid has lost all her momentum and some confidence.

Anna is going for an unbelievable Russian Nationals 4 peat and she's going to be looking for any weakness in Kamila.

Let's hope Russian Nationals happens everybody stays healthy and they have a great competition like last year.

But what occasions you to speculate about Valieva losing her momentum and confidence?
Missing the GPF could throw her off a little bit. She really had some incredible momentum.
We will find out at Russian nationals because the pressure will be on KV and all the top ladies. I would love to see the top ladies skate as great as last year but I don't think we can count on that.
