hold your breath yet, this is only a test skate, lolOMG did Trusova just do five quads with two lutzes in the second half? Watch out Nathan Chen, and suck it haterz!
I'm rooting for her!! She's amazing and NOT boring!!!OMG did Trusova just do five quads with two lutzes in the second half? Watch out Nathan Chen, and suck it haterz!
people crossing out Sherbakova but after the FS, they silenced againPlease a team of Sasha Liza and Anna. Those three are so inspiring with their work ethic. I hope they can all make it happen for themselves. All of the Russian women are great but these three have so much grit and resilience.
Im kinda worried this will happen in Beijing if she goes to the Olympics for now my picksUgh, the devastation on Valieva’s face really indicates the pressure she feels. Shake it off, girl. This event is basically a public practice.
true after the SPIt’s really hard to say what the makeup of this Olympic team is going to be. I think the Grand Prix Final will be very telling. It would be extremely surprising not to see 6 Russian women there. It will be the best preview of Russian Nationals and Olympics.
The 3As are back? We'll see.true after the SP
I had Trusova, La Tuk and Valieva
then after the FS, I turned to
Trusova, Kostornaia, Scherbakova

Valieva and Tuktamysheva really struggled today and falls marred their performances. https://youtu.be/SCWdvLgK1KEWow really? What happened… after that short program I saw I'm like there's the Olympic champion.

Nothing. She had two falls. They happen. She's still in contention unless Trusova duplicates what she did today in which case nobody comes close to her.Wow really? What happened… after that short program I saw I'm like there's the Olympic champion.

I have never seen a skater ignore their music more than her, except for perhaps Jin Boyang.Jeebus. Trusova is on a mission to make the world her bitch! She could compete w. Nathan Chen!
But more seriously and coming down to earth, I felt her LP was just jumps: It was more of an X Games program than an FS program. If you wanted to compare her to Nathan (LOL) or even someone like Kostornaya, Valieva or Shcherbakova, she is lacking a bit on almost every other component, and it hurts me to say that because it does take away from what she did at the RUS Test Skate ... But it still needs to be said.
I'll say it: Nathan barely emote for the first 2/3s of his LPs, no different than Sasha does. In fact, even Yuzu isn't much better. All she needs to do is polish up the step sequence and really sell it like Nate does.Jeebus. Trusova is on a mission to make the world her bitch! She could compete w. Nathan Chen!

Five quads are exhausting and take 100% of a skater's focus. None of them are immune to this. The trick is getting a program that hides it well.
There are not going to be 6 Russian women in the GPF, unless you count the females in the pairs and dance teams. It’s really hard to say what the makeup of this Olympic team is going to be. Kostornaia is showing promise that her comeback is on the right track and her 3Axel is showing more stability. I’m not ready to write her off yet. There are not going to be 6 Russian women in the GPF, unless you count the females in the pairs and dance teams.
SkAm - Trusova is the only Russian woman likely to medal. Sinitsyna or Usacheva would have to have an awfully good day to beat Sakamoto or You for a medal, and who knows what sort of shape Tennell is in by then.
SkCan - None of the 3 Russian women there are going to win with free skates like they gave us today, and only one is likely to medal with Kihira, Liu, Lee, Higuchi and Chen also there. Don't ask me which of La Tuk or Valieva medals but for the other two, being off the podium, quite possibly as far down as 5th or even 7th in this packed field, is going to end their GPF hopes.
Torino GP - Shcher is the only Russian woman getting on the podium here. Samo definitely not. Khromykh - well, maybe she could wind up on the podium but I can easily see her beaten by the likes of Hendrickx, Mihara, Kim, Lim, and Tennell. Or not. Either way, even if she did medal, she'll need the silver here since she's only got one GP assignment and RusFed would have to give her the RC TBA spot to give her a shot at another medal and the GPF.
NHK - Trusova is the only Russian medaling in this field. No way does Usacheva beat Kihira, Sakamoto, You and Liu. A 2nd & 6th doesn't get you to the GP.
IdF - Shcher wins and the rest of the field is wide open but what I just said about Usacheva at NHK applies to Kostornaia and Sinitsyna here in reverse. They're going to have trouble at SkCan and SkAm finishing high enough to not bury their chances at the GPF before they get to IdF with its much more open field, but they're still going up against Higuchi, Lee and Chen here so there's no reason, based on today, to believe that more than one Russian woman will be on the podium.
RC - Even if Khromykh gets the TBA spot here (which she won't unless she medals in Torino), she finishes, at best, third against Valieva and La Tuk. And I'm already doubtful she can beat Hendricks in Torino, plus Japan has their latest wunderkind, Matsuike, assigned to RC.
As of today, I think it is safe to say three Russian women (Shcher, Trusova, and one of La Tuk or Valieva) are likely in the GPF, possibly a 4th depending on the SkCan and NHK results. But there won't be six. Just not happening.
I agree that it's unlikely that all 6 will make GPF but I think your logic here is ignoring many factors. We are in the middle of September and the only skater aside from the Russians we actually saw do well is Liu and while she's very much on track her scoring at Lombardia was generous. Tennell is rumored to be injured and struggled last season, Kihira is just now switching coaches and isn't the most consistent skater even on her best days, Higuchi underperformed in the latest Japanese events, and You underperformed at Cranberry Cup. The ladies' field is the toughest it's ever been imo and I wouldn't write any of the ladies off, but even if today was an off day for the Russian ladies when they are on they will take most of the rest of the field. There are not going to be 6 Russian women in the GPF, unless you count the females in the pairs and dance teams.

the only Valieva not medaling is if they dont compete in Skate Canada.I can see the Final shaping up to be 6 of Valieva, Shcherbakova, Trusova, Kostornaia, Tuktamysheva, Sakamoto or Liu.
