Who came out okay? Fleming, Fratianne, Sumners, Yamaguchi, Kadavy, Cohen, Sarah Hughes, and Emily Hughes.
'Came out okay'? I'm not disagreeing with you, but I think you'd need to describe what you mean by that phrasing first, as well as how/why you've made up these separate categories. No one's life is that simple and uncomplicated.
Fratianne was very unhappy after feeling

of gold at the 1980 Olympics. It was tough. I was younger and I didn't understand the sport a great deal, but I watched her and Poetsch skate at the Olympics. It was obvious who was the better all-around skater. As usual, there was politics involved in the scoring. Sumners was unhappy after not winning gold in 1984 vs Kat Witt. But Sumners fortunately went on to have a fulfilling career in professional skating (the good 'ol days of the professional tour and fun exhibitions). Kadavy had some bad luck in her skating career, but she came through it intact emotionally, and she also had some wonderful success as a professional.
Sasha Cohen has had plenty of ups-and-downs, but she seems to have carved out a very rewarding life after skating, and she seems very happily in love (and recently married). The Hughes clan stick together and both seem to have gotten more than they could have anticipated out of their skating careers. I will say that both had picture perfect laybacks, and leave it at that.

Peggy and Kristi are great role models but I'm sure both would and have related some of the challenges they faced and overcame during their eligible careers. Kristi had a brilliant pro career, even better than her eligible career IMO. Peggy came up during a very different era, and her career was watched over and managed by her mother. For that matter, ditto mother-influence on Kristi's career.
Sorry for the OT. This thread is about Gracie.
