It's august 18 and aug. 19 in Berlin. Unfortunately Aliona and Bruno will not be there.

Dastich and Thomalla/Kunkel got an ISU scholarship due to their results at junior worlds.

As far as I understood ISU there had been some changes in the development programs. The money they'd be spending on programs they'll now give to skaters directly for training camps, choreography... I don't know, if you had to apply by yourself, if your federation is applying some skaters or if ISU just picks them or maybe all of it would work.

The only junior pairs team Germany has to offer. No triples or double axel though, but no other team is there and will be in the next years. I would assume it's a DEU decision.

Scheidt is the same age group as Dastich, so still eligible for this year and next year. Bock is one age group up, but should be still eligible this year. But I doubt she will do JGP.

Would make sense regarding her world standings;
Taking her recent injury and the olympic qualification into account maybe not; we will find out sooner or later.

If Bock gets assigned to a JGP it will probably be the later ones. As her knee is still bothering her I dont expect her to start competing in early September. A full recovery is more important and getting WS points on the JGP circuit.

Bock wants to qualify for the Olympics, so I'd rather guess the will concentrate on senior competitions. She needs to do Challengers (to get the qualification done), so she will probably focus on being in shape on the three Challengers she will probably do, which will not be that easy after her injury.

(Assuming that selection criteria will kinda work like in the previous seasons) I would like to see German Fed sending all 3/4 girls exactly to the same challengers. So in the end they would have 4 competitions (3 challengers + nationals with the 2 best counting) to decide who will be send. And no discussions about unfair juding later.
I like spanish attempt here: sending all dance couples and men for a head-to-head to golden spin!

I think there is a limit of 3 entries (if you are hosting a challenger you can probably enter more than 3). So the scenario with 4 girls in line (Schott, Weinzierl, Bock, Dastich) would not work. The qualification modus of DEU is not public yet, but what I have heard could be the following: 2 best out of 3 challenger (combined points). You can pick any challenger you want.

ISU pick ups (their Development Commission) under the results of Junior Worlds. The change of sending it directly is done for around 7/8 years now. It was deciding because some skaters never recieved it from their Feds. The problem is if the skater is quitting or pair/dance team is splitting sooner than are the obligations in the contract (it is two seasons after the awarded Scholarships) the Federation is going to pay the amount back to ISU...

- Men/Ladies: the two persons leading the olympic race list are qualified
- Pairs: S/M and the pair leading (following S/M) the olympic race is qualified
- Ice Dance: couple leading the olympic race is qualified

Worlds:
- Men/Ladies: better euros finisher is qualified
- Pairs: the 2 best finishers of Euros are qualified ( the 2 best? there are only 2 at euros ?!?)
- Ice Dance: If euros entry finished 12 or higher, they are qualified; otherwise there will be a recommendation by the fes competition committe

I like the 'Top 12' finish for the dance team at euros to head to worlds; why is there not something like that in pairs?
With only 2 pairs at euros, this would only be fair for either H/B or H/S or whoever there will be. But it sounds like the criteria was set expecting 3 pairs to compete at Euros

Ice Dance:
L/P apparently not in training since a couple of weeks right now because Kavita's having pain in her foot. Not a severe injury but taking some time off to be ready and healthy for the season. It's still only July which makes sense BUT Wondering if ready for Test Skate in August? Joti skating a lot by himself eveyday - with coaches.

M/D in normal training and should be competing in Lake Placid this weekend.

If L/P not ready for August... that is going to be a hot mess! How are they deciding who's going to go to Nebelhorn?

Mueller/Dieck with decent outing in SD

They sit in 5th with 57,60pts.
Looks like they finally made some progress and seem more mature in their skating; I like Katis look, Tims hair though Just cut it boy, you look damn fine with short hair.

Good program for them! They both can move - not a question! I think it's well choreographed and a improvement is visible but I am not impressed by those music choices. So different and messy - they don't make sense together. I've heard that this is their better program. FD not so great, apparently!

Time will tell. And better we are just waiting few more hours to see the FD.

Both, M/D and K/N (I don't see either U/L nor S/W as serious contenders for the olympic spot) have nothing to lose this season and can go all-on; it's L/P spot to lose! And I would not bet on them being the team skating in Korea in February.

That is a very nice program. Terrific ice coverage on both dominant-side twizzles, and I really like the lift. They need more speed on the pattern. On film it looked labored. But, yes, nice movement quality.

Well, I enjoyed it. She has got a bit of glamour. Like the music because it is something new. 88 points does not sound bad.

The lift could be better and his costume can be optimized. Needs a bit more routine.
