I'm sure npavel means Ruben Blommaert. Mari never skated with someone named Benjamin. There is an ice dancer named Benjamin Steffen, but he is skating with Jennifer Urban now and never did pairs and never skated with Mari in any discipline.
 
I got confirmation today from coach Daniel Wende that indeed Mari Vartmann and Matti Landgraf are not skating anymore together. Daniel said that Matti decided that he does not want to return to competitive skating after all. Mari and the coaches are trying to find a new partner.
I feel really bad for Mari.

Aw. Now, I feel bad for her too. And, now I'll be forced to be nice to @Jeschke Seems the tornado was coming after all.

Poor Mari. :( I hope she can find a partner, I bet she could go onto 2022 if she is really driven for the Olympics...maybe this will end up being a blessing as Landgraf was a one year rental, at best. #optimistic

It seems so odd Landgraf would go so far to get a year off from touring and then bail after 2 months of training!

What a season for me! :drama:

So olympics'18 seem totally unrealistic for Mari right now.
I like that she and the coaches are searching for another partner for Mari and she is still driven to go on!
(I had a feeling, after this season, both Mari and Nüchtern will live a 'happily ever after')
That the coaches still stick to her is showing, that there is for sure another side to the story @npavel but I do not want to be any part of further speculation here.

Maybe they could import one from Russia. It worked from Australia, why it shouldn't work for Germany? Naturally, it would be late for the Olympics next season, but if she wants to skate a few more years, it would be worth it.
 
It's really nice that the coaches stick to Mari, but I don't believe the story. Matti has quit his job at a cruise ship to try to make it to the Olympics and says after doing choreo "Oh I don't want to go back to competitive skating". Sounds weird. Pair skating is a team sport (even though the team is very little) and if you are not a team player it's going to be difficult. To find another new partner probably doesn't help. I don't think Mari will go on.

I assumed that Aliona would retire with the OGM in 2018 and then coach Mari/Bruno in 2022, but you can change the dates to 2022 and 2026. :)

Skate Canada for Kavita & Joti - that's amazing! Should be a motivation booster.
It seems like on social media these 2 couples get a long well. They should be happy having a event together. Go Germany!
 
S/M are up against other TES crazy pairs at their GPs: both times D/R and once Y/Z. We'll see, if they all go quad-crazy or for clean programs and crazy transitions. I guess SC will set the pace for the season quadwise.

In that post they've also announced that they will not skate to Rachmaninoff for their Free Dance as they did announce earlier.
I am happy they went for non mainstream Latin music. I've never heard any of these songs and I like them all, especially the Rumba music is amazing!

Maybe not mainstream for skating programs but Quimbara is quite a mainstream hit in latin countries. Itsa very well known old song covered by tons of tropical music artissts. The Celia Cruz version is quite energetic so hopefully they do it justice.

One step at a time, Jeschke. Qualify first. Then worry about who gets the spot. This switching coaches & then needing to qualify right off the bat in the autumn is a bit spooky. Shouldn't be because there are quite a few dance spots, the Germans qualified for the free at Worlds, & the German team gets to skate at home. But I hope Lorenz & Polizoakis go get their feet wet during the summer season first. Marina could very well be a better fit than Igor long term, but the programs won't be as designed to code right away. And L&P didn't get a great start last season. It would be a good idea to get some feedback first, I think.

I take it that you never listen to Latin music because Celia Cruz was very popular.
 
Well... I will talk to one of my Michigan people this weekend who know all the gossip and than i can let you know more. My source was also the one who said that L/P are switching coaches which ended up being right. I am pretty sure Marina makes L/P work work and work. Just to show Igor a point ;-)
