No need to have everyone vaccinated. Only those who are going to travel to worlds! There is a big difference in a vaccine becoming available and there being enough available to have everyo e vaccinated.
Sofia is the new Eteri phenom. She may be the best novice girl ever. But if they raise the age limit to 17 she will be in juniors for like 4 years.Sofia Akatieva is a second girl (after Alysa Liu) who performed a quad and a 3A in one programme. She is the first one to do it with hands up. And then she falls on a simple triple...; in an interview she said it is because her mind flue away to another subject.

This is what amazes me about Eteri. She has an established school and great depth of talent so why stoop so low to these ridiculous tirades in the press when a student leaves? The unnecessary drama and disparaging of former students really is a horrid look on her. None of them are irreplaceable. I mean Russia is brimming with talent. Sheesh....Sofia is the new Eteri phenom. She may be the best novice girl ever. I am a little disappointed Princess Aliona doesnt have her triple axel back.
I am surprised Veronika Zhilina had ********* 19 recently. She bounced back fast.
Ksenia Sinitsyna has been injured. I think she's only recently been able to get back on the ice after being out for several months. There have been reports of Gubanova still going to the rink and practicing. She's never reported that she's retiring, so there's lots of speculation that perhaps she's going through a country switch. In Russian ladies singles what happened to Ksenia and Gubanova this year? Ksenia was on the rise and expected to get a GP assignment if there was a normal season and Nastya had a fine Russian Cup final with a silver medal in February and it seemed like she was through puberty. Even though both girls lack the technical dominance of the top ladies I enjoy their beautiful skating and artistry and miss them. I know Ksenia wasn't feeling well a few months ago or something like that. But I've heard nothing about Nastya while other girls from her rink like Nugumanova are skating regularly.

I can only surmise it's because Eteri gets personally attached to these girls takes them from nothing and makes them great and then in her eyes they stab her in the back and leave without even saying goodbye to her face. Then these kids take what they've learned with their former coach and put that to use at their new facility. This is what amazes me about Eteri. Thank you Amy. Ksenia has been sick for a long time then. As for Nastya I didn't even think of a transfer of country as being a possible reason for her not skating this season. I would have thought if she was going to change country's it would have happened a couple years ago. Besides now the Russian Federation has changed its transfer rules and is supposedly making skaters wait two seasons before being able to transfer which is totally unfair.Ksenia Sinitsyna has been injured. I think it's more that Eteri has a quick temper she's had a very hard life she's a fighter a battler and she doesn't know how to be calm cool and collected when she's hurt. It's a flaw that billions of humans have and it doesn't matter if you're great at something like she is or mediocre at something. She has a hard time dealing with her students leaving her after she takes them from nothing to greatness. She should be better than that though. Two reasons come to my mind.
1. Because that’s PR. Even behaving badly can be good PR, if she continues to produce the winning results.
2. because she understands that fans need to have something to talk about in the off season, so she decided to create entertainment for us. What would we do without a bit of Russian drama?
Gubanova's last international was Golden Spin of Zagreb in December 2018... IF (eta: this is all merely speculation at this point) she is considering switching to represent another country, maybe she would be eligible to be released for next season? Also, new policy on switching countries was adopted:
skaters who represented Russian on international circuit will have to wait for two years to get a release, those who participated at Nationals - for a year.
Wow, I didn't realize Gubanova had not done an international in almost two years. Knowing that, I think it is highly believable and understandable to switch federations. I wonder which country she might choose.@Ka3sha posted this last May:

Hi to all of you! This is my first post in this forum.
I tried to find information about Gubanova's possible future transfer, but I could not find such information anywhere.

What does that mean? Are you ROFLing?
Yes.What does that mean? Are you ROFLing?
I didn't even think of the international aspect of things but she hasn't done an international event since she was 15. An absolute crime from the Russian Federation. I wouldn't blame her for leaving or many of the other Russian ladies because they have no chance. I'm hoping she goes to Canada if she leaves Russia and that's not even a certainty at this point.Wow, I didn't realize Gubanova had not done an international in almost two years. I would think we would know why she wasn't skating at all when lesser skaters that her have done two stages of the Russian cup already. It's only speculation at this point, Gubanova hasn't announced anything herself.
Welcome! I apologize if my earlier post (#911) gave you the wrong impression. I've gone back and edited it to stress it's just fan speculation right now.Hi to all of you! This is my first post in this forum.

The page didn't come up so I will imagine and say WOW!I forgot to mention that part! That was remarkable!
"For the first time in the history of sports, Russian figure skater Sofia Akatieva [won Junior gold in Kazan, scoring 231.44 total] performed two quadruple jumps and a triple axel in one program." https://rsport.ria.ru/20201112/istoriya-1584312394.html

^^ 2 quads with both hands over the head ! That's taking the quad to another level. The best quad men jumpers in the world are not doing that.
Hi, Scott!Hello how did you end up here? I hope you enjoy figure skating universe.
As her what has happened to Anastasiya it's like another Russian mystery but nobody can figure out.
it's just so hard to believe and frustrating. Nastya was at one point at say 11 or 12 the best novice girl I had ever seen. She just skated with so much Beauty and Artistry and feel it was so natural to her. unfortunately she got passed by in the next few years by the technicians and chancing coaches a few times which was not a good idea. This sport can be so brutal. When Gubanova took silver at the JGPF, she was IT as far as I was concerned. But she had such struggles since then, and now when she regained all her jumps, she just disappears.![]()
Thanks.Welcome!
Yes the curse has hit many great Russian girls. And I mean this sincerely I will enjoy watching the Russian girls who are on the third or fourth tier just as much as the first or second tier. They have less technical ability of course but you will also sometimes get greater Artistry and feel and musicality.Hi, Scott!Well, I have been reading this forum for a long time. So finally I decided to register. By the way, I am also reading one of the biggest Russian figure skating forums. Not ready to register there. (Since my Russian is far from perfect).
As for Gubanova - it seems that there is a strange curse... Gubanova, Tarakanova, Kanysheva, Sinitsyna all of them could have achieved so much more.
Thank you for my longevity appreciation, i do plan to live till 100... sex and drugs and rock-n-roll......Your age is showing. Now you sound like my great great great grandmother. But she had an excuse because she did live in a different century. If the sight of an underage fully dressed crotch excites you that much, maybe skating is not your sport? Don’t force yourself to watch something that your sense of modesty can’t cope with. The same way I can’t watch some sports because I can’t look at blood, skating may just not go with you. No big deal, don’t watch it.
