We are in really trouble...so many amazing talents in a row. Who will be the biggest favorite?
Let's hope she survives puberty and does not develop a complex because of it. It's clear to me now why Tarasova wants to raise the age limits for senior ladies. Hopefully compassion will win out.

Valieva is crazy flexible and has ridiculous spins, but I can't get into her skating yet based on this program like I am into Shcherbakova's and Kostornaia's.

Matter of taste plus Anna and Alena are older. One-two years is very important

The young skater is beautiful skating and amazing spins. I cringe though and think of her back when she in twenties. But agreed she is one to watch. Like her already better than the current Russian ladies. She amazing if she holds up

She comes across as detached, but that's not surprising at her age. She does move beautifully!

Im barely getting to know the current Russian wunderkinds and here comes Valieva, the crazy depth in Russian rhythmic gym used to surprise me but it seems that Russian ladies skating has taken it to another level. The talent is never ending 😑
It is at the cost of other sports like Artistic Gymnastics and even Tennis.

The pain is in his neck. He had cervical hernia in 2015 he was operated. There is no official information from them or from the doctor. He skated with painkiller injection on last shows.
He had to withdraw from his own shows and now in the hospital, his wife Yana said to the press "we will not discuss the specifics of his condition, he is no longer a competitive athlete so it is now a family matter".

The publications also say "back/spine" and he felt ill right after the last show in which he is the star performer who is both, skating and dancing ballet on stage. (Спортсмен почувствовал себя плохо после презентации собственного шоу в СПб – у него сильно заболела спина.) but maybe it is "neck" since no one knows exactly.

When i saw few clips of his last show, where he is not just skating, but is also doing ballet (moves he usually does on ice, not on the floor) and also lifting people and wrestling with Sandhu, it did not look "healthy" to me.. Few clips that are easily found...

That's is one big assumption, and not confirmed. Russian youngsters in droves join tennis clubs, as tennis for top athletes is far more financially rewarding than figure skating. Many good Russian tennis schools and clubs have long waiting lines.

Thank you. Do you have video of the other teams or the channel that has the videos? Thanks in advance.
I don’t have any links to other teams, and the feed was cut right after it ended.

Ahead of Loboda/Shibnev placed two lesser known Russian teams (you can look up on youtube several of their recent skates at other events during last 6 months). Here are samples.

Ivanenko/Karpov
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKSKgt--0nk

Andreeva/Desyatov
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IvHWpcu5aHQ

and i also found L/S's RD - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c7Ev2QHD4iM

Loboda teamed up with Shibnev

I feel for them both. They look so mismatched and he looks dead at the end. Do you know where they placed in the end?
There were 5 teams. They placed 3rd with 133.54.
Here's another twist. On the Russian chat some people say that while Loboda/Shibnev skated after a group of 4 other teams, they (L/S) were the only senior team, and the other 4 were juniors. I don't know, and don't think it is correct, since all 5 teams were in the same warm-up according to schedule and on the ice, but posting anyway.

Of the 5 teams regardless of sr or jr, L/S's scores were 3rd. If the first two teams were Jrs. then L/S lost to Juniors.

Are you saying that they were beaten by two junior teams? That’s bad! I know they have been skating together only for a short while, but maybe they should do more work and less competing until they are ready. What’s the point of competing if they are seniors and scoring worse than a half of the juniors who competed there?

I can't figure out if 5 teams (4 jrs, 1 sr) were scored separately or as one group. The scoring board did not work well, with 1-2 teams delay, and there is no print out or final results. All 5 teams were "the last event", then the feed went blank. The only info, were scores after the skate of each team. Loboda/Shibnev's scores (totals) gave them 3rd spot in this group of 5 teams. It is also possible, that they were the only Senior team and were automatically in 1st and only place, but that does not mean much.

Well, regardless whether they got automatically first place as the only one competing senior team, or whether they got bronze medals as the team who placed third out of five teams competing there, the fact still remains that they scored less than a half of the junior teams present. So that’s surely not considered a success, no matter which colour of medals they got. By the way, who were the teams that beat them? Are they really good or is it that Loboda/Shibnev were that bad?

It's in my earlier post.

Shibnev's Russian Fed listing has not been updated in a while. Elena is still listed as his partner.
He seems to be specializing in dancing with "ladies in transition" and should start a "dance Escort Service Ltd."
To be fair, with every lady he had (except of Loboda) he upgraded, and it wasn’t really his fault that the partnership with Davankova and Ilynikh ended. Davankova wanted to end her skating career and so did Ilynikh. I am sure that skating with them improved his own skating, with Davankova it was because Morozov really put all his effort into that partnership and with Ilynikh because she was so much better, he must have been pushed to improve. So it wasn’t a waste of time. He definitely chooses better than for example Vlasenko, who looked pretty decent at the junior level, then found a partner who had no results and then it didn’t go anywhere.

There is no "direct to the top" when you start a new ice dance partnership. 99.99% of the time you drop first, and then you work hard and build back up.

I've never thought anything of Shibnev. It makes me so frustrated that Loboda & Drozd are nowhere when they could have stayed together and had an excellent shot of going to the frigging European Championships this year, but c'est la vie. Everyone must start somewhere.

And we have Polischuk & Vakhnov in exactly the same scenario when they could have made a great run at Junior Worlds. (She was in a knee brace at Mentor Torun. I wonder if she was having injury issues before the split or if it is recent).

Ivanenko & Karpov were first alternates to the JGPF this season, fyi.
