Here is another interview with Polina, she said she sincerely was cheering for Evgeniya and Alina, and during the Olympics she cried twice, when S/M won, and when "our girls" took Gold and Silver. Polina is a sweet-heart..

During the Olympics i cried twice. From happiness for Alena Savchenko. And second time when i woke up and saw the Ladies results. I watched Zhenya's FS. It was so emotional, it toughed me to the depth of my soul. And when Zhenya gave it all on the ice and started crying, the tears started rolling down my cheeks. Alina is great (ata-boy!). Zhenya gave it all! It was the best skate of her life! Such emotions! Such performance!

This is actually the same interview, the newspaper even refers to the Figure Skating Federation as a source.

Short interview with Stanislava Konstantinova
"The main conclusion I got from that season - I have to work harder. You have to forget about life's simple pleasures and never give up. As they say, you can not break a person, who never gives up. For example, Senior and Junior Nationals. I made mistakes in the short at both competitions, but I didn't give up and was able to show two of my best skates ever in the free programs. I got great marks there and it helped me to qualify to major international events

She's keeping her Anna Karenina LP for the next season, regarding her new short:
"I want to keep an intrigue for some time, don't want to name the music right now. But it's with character, very emotional. Like fire."
"I'm working on the triple axel during the off-season. While working on it, I understood how difficult and risky it is to try new jumps, and that the girls, who do ulra-c elements, did great job. I convey my respect."
About Kolyada and her favorite skaters:
"Misha's example thought me that you have to go your own way, don't look at others. ... Misha always helps me, tell me some things, that make me stay positive, inspire me and make me work better."
"I'm also rooting for Ksenia Stolbova and Fedor Klimov. They have very stylish programs and great interpretation. They're my favorite team. And they're from St Petersburg.
I also like Shoma Uno among guys and Ashley Wagner and Carolina Kostner among ladies."

I like Konstantinova... but no sure keeping Karenina LP is wise. She has not had much success with it in the past season, and we have much talked about Medvedeva's LP that made a splash.

CAS has published today the reasoning for 2 of the 39 Russian athletes who appealed unsuccessfully to CAS A. Legkov & A. Zubkov.
So it will be some time before they get around to Bukin or Stolbova's reasoning, as their appeal came later during the Olympics.

http://www.tas-cas.org/fileadmin/user_upload/Media_Release__reasoned_awards_RUS_IOC__FINAL...pdf
These are athlete who were initially suspended of disappearing samples from Sochi. Legkov was banned and stripped of his medals, he won the case against WADA and IOC at the cas. The case in his case was that there is no proof to show against the accusations. The case appealed byStolbova and Bukin is very different, and the appeal does not require an explanation from CAS. Their appeal was rejected because their country was under suspension and they didn’t get an invite for unknown reason, CAS made it clear it was IOC decision to make. Stolbova and Bukin May not know ever why that happened.

The IOC said that CAS will be publishing the reasoning for the Russian athletes, including Bukin and Stolbova, who were among the group who appealed to CAS during the Olympics, against not being invited. So that reasoning will have to explain on what basis they were not invited as not being invited was explicitly what they appealed against.

THE CAS AD HOC DIVISION DENIES JURISDICTION TO HEAR THE APPLICATIONS OF 6 RUSSIAN ATHLETES AND 7 MEMBERS OF THE ATHLETES’ ENTOURAGE

This is CAS statement no.2 regarding athletes like Victor Ahn, Vladimir Grigorev, Anton Shipulin, Evgeniy Garanichev, Ruslan Murashov, Ekaterina Shikhova, Sergei Ustyugov, Ksenia Stolbova, Ekaterina Urlova-Percht, Maksim Tcvetkov, Irina Uslugina, Yulia Shokshueva, Daria Virolainen, Dmitri Popov, Roman Koshelev, Mikhail Naumenkov, Alexei Bereglasov, Valeri Nichushkin, Anton Belov, Sergei Plotnikov, Evgeniya Zakharova, Ruslan Zakharov, Anna Iurakova, Alexey Esin, Yulia Skokova, Elizaveta Kazelina, Sergey Gryaztsov, Ivan Bukin, Denis Arapetyan, Artem Kozlov, Gleb Retivikh, Alexey Volkov

and second set of Russians athletes restated after CAS appeal like Alexander Legkov, Maxim Vylegzhanin, Evgeniy Belov, Alexander Bessmertnykh, Evgenia Shapovalova, Natalia Matveeva, Aleksandr Tretiakov, Elena Nikitina, Maria Orlova, Olga Fatkulina, Alexander Rumyantsev, Artem Kuznetcov, Tatyana Ivanova, Albert Demchenko, Sergei Chudinov v. International Olympic Committee

In its decisions, the CAS arbitrators have considered that the process created by the IOC to establish an invitation list of Russian athletes to compete as Olympic Athletes from Russia (OAR) could not be described as a sanction but rather as an eligibility decision. Although the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) was suspended, the IOC nevertheless chose to offer individual athletes the opportunity to participate in the Winter Games under prescribed conditions - a process that was designed to balance the IOC’s interest in the global fight against doping and the interests of individual athletes from Russia.

At the hearing, the Applicants acknowledged that the IOC had the ability to institute such process. The CAS Panel found that the Applicants did not demonstrate that the manner in which the two special commissions (the Invitation Review Panel (IRP) and the Olympic Athlete from Russia Implementation Group (OAR IG) independently evaluated the Applicants was carried out in a discriminatory, arbitrary or unfair manner. The Panel also concluded that there was no evidence the IRP or the OAR IG improperly exercised their discretion.

I personally have a hard time believing anything the IOC did had any rhyme or reason, and frankly I'd just like to forget the whole thing.
Even if they do give Ksenia and Ivan an "explanation", how are we to know that it's even true? They could just type up "yep, we found a banned substance!". The IOC's money can be very influential, and if they wanna hush something up, they can.

The fact that CAS will publish the reasoning for all of the 45 Russian athletes who unsuccessfully appealed against their lack of invitation during the Olympics, is documented throughout the media, here is the first one I could find.

https://5hotnews.com/2018/02/14/cas...oning-part-on-non-approved-russian-olympians/

Court of arbitration for sport (CAS) on the opening day of the Olympic games in Pyeongchang has decided to side with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and not admitted to the main start of fourth anniversary 45 Russian athletes and two coaches. According to CAS Secretary General Matthieu Reeb, the reasoning part will be published in each case.

Even foreign athletes when it asked the question: why, if the Russians justified, they were not allowed to participate in the Olympics?

Each individual case of the Russian athlete is the reasoning part. They will be listed proof, which the IOC refused the invitation for the Games in 2018” – quoted by Matthieu Reeb RT, who is Secretary General of the CAS.

He also expressed solidarity with those who wish to learn the specific reasons for the rejection of the Russians in the Olympics. We will remind that by the decision of the IOC in our individual athletes compete under a neutral flag with the logo of the OAR – Olympic athletes from Russia.

I am :confused::confused: about the CAS reasoning: because there was clearly a swap, by definition, the athlete gave a clean urine sample knowing what it would be used for. He might very well have, but would this have even passed Logic 101?

Interview with Polina Tsurskaya on the website of the Russian Figure Skating Federation:
http://www.fsrussia.ru/intervyu/3704-polina-tsurskaya-ne-nado-nikogda-sdavatsya.html
Fs-gossips translated this interview few days ago
http://fs-gossips.com/polina-tsurskaya-you-should-never-give-up/

So, the first senior season for you ended at the Russian Nationals?

– Yes, the season turned out short. And for me it started later because I was treating my back. Honestly, by that time I was already tired of injuries. In the summer I even wanted to give up sports. I skipped trainings, I did not want to see anyone, I did not want to talk to anyone. The mood was terrible.

How did coaches and parents react to this?

– Coaches at first persuaded, explained. Then they scolded, said that I will regret if I quit. But I did not listen to anyone, I was in some kind of corridor, on my wave. Of course, parents were worried. At first they did not believe my words, they thought it was the whims that it will pass soon. But when everything was drag on, then Mom and Dad, probably, became scared. At night, I cried. Mom was upset … Only in September it turned out to bring me to a normal state.

How?

– When all the methods have been tried, they just made me to go on the ice and said: “Enough whims, everyone is tired of your whining, go and skate.”

I remember that I went to the ice without any desire. Just because they forced me. But after a while I felt that I like to glide. Just glide. Although before there was one thing in my mind – jumping, let me just jump. In general, I realized how I missed figure skating, training, ice … Gradually restored jumps, caught the training the rhythm.

I’m very grateful to the coaches, parents, our Federation, friends that at that moment they did not abandon me, gave time, endured and helped me to get out of the pit.

Could you really quit skating?

– Then it seemed to me that I could quit easily. I was not afraid of that. Mom asked: “Well, how? Spend on sports all your life and just quit? Isn’t it pity?” And I thought that sooner or later the sport will end, and I will have to switch, look for something new. Why not now?
...
What changed in you after you changed your mind about quitting the sport?

– I changed. My attitude to training has changed, Now I understand that if you do not do something today, tomorrow it will not work either. It is necessary to do everything now, not postponing for later. Is you think I’ll do it tomorrow, it’s not gonna work out. You won’t approach competitions in a good shape with such a mood. We have to work, fight against each other at every training session, at every competitions.

You know, probably, difficult periods in a person’s life are not just happening. During the time that I was treating my back, I had time to think, to understand how to live. Now, going on the ice, I enjoy, enjoy gliding, jumping, everything .. I do not know what I would do if I left. It would be very difficult to return. I’m a tall girl, and without physical exertion I could grow up. Most likely, I would gain weight. And my return to the ice would be unlikely.

During this year I have rethought a lot. Now I’m waiting for the choreography process to begin. I know that it will be difficult, but you need to be able to overcome yourself. I have never had such feelings like at the grand prix in Japan where I skate my program clean. I was really proud of myself that I did not quit, I did not leave sport, but I overcame it, I managed it.

When I was a child, everything was easier. I went on the ice, did, jumped, turned out, won. And now, when you are going through a difficult path, any victory, even over yourself, becomes more valuable. With age, experience, failures, losses you begin to appreciate things that you simply did not notice before.
Her thoughts on Olympics, Aljona Savchenko and Alina/Evgenia
Have you watched the Olympic Games in Korea?

– Of course.

What did you feel?

– I was sad. But whom to blame but yourself? I sincerely worried about our girls. But sometimes I had thoughts that I lost my place in the Olympic team. That I could be at the Olympics and experience unforgettable emotions, which all sportsmen talked about in an interview.

On the other hand, I felt that this is the heat of passion, emotions, tension, such an “infernal meat grinder” … For myself, I concluded that during the Olympic season the price of any miss, mistake, skipped competitions increases a lot. The Olympic Games are a huge stress, even if you win Olympic medals. I saw Alina and Zhenya after their return. They were burnt out, devastated. Zhenya, who is always cheerful, sociable, always ready to listen, give advice, she was completely different. And only a month later, Zhenya became the same.

It was hard for Alina. I saw how she prepared for the World Championships. Day after day in training, fighting with herself. The Olympics is, of course, a holiday. But for an athlete this is a difficult test.

What was most memorable about the Olympics?

– During the Olympics, I cried twice. Because of joy for Alena Savchenko. And the second time when I woke up and saw the results of the ladies’ event. I watched Zhenya’s performance. It was so emotional that it touched me to the depths of my soul. And when Zhenya splashed herself completely on the ice and cried, I also burst into tears … Alina – well done! But Evgenia gave everything she had! It was the best skate in her life! Such emotions! Such skating!

And Alena Savchenko. I watched their free program live. And when they finished the program, I experienced joy and pride that everything finally turned out for Aliona, because she has been going to this for so long, she loves figure skating and achieved what she wanted! This can not but be admired! Alena’s victory changed a lot in me. I realized that, no matter what, we must go to our goals.

Of course, in pair skating the age threshold is higher. Alena Savchenko is older than Alina Zagitova on almost 20 years! But both for the first time became Olympic champions. It is clear that in women’s single skating, few people remain in sports until such an age. 25 is already a “veteran”. But this does not cancel what I said, the desire to achieve the goal.

Women’s skating is changing. The rules change. I do not set the task to learn a quadruple jump, a triple axel, do difficult jumps like Sasha Trusova. Everyone has his own path. But with the example of such figure skaters as Carolina Kostner and Alena Savchenko, you understand that in life one should never give up. And I will not give up, I will fight.

The last piece of "news" from Bukin or Stolbova on this issue came from Bukin at the end of March 2017.
https://www.championat.com/other/ne...sma-olimpijskih-chempionov-eto-zhe-glupo.html

He said that:

a) he does not believe IOC even read the letters they sent to IOC end of January
http://fsrussia.ru/news/3535-otkrytoe-pismo-ivana-bukina-chlenam-mok.html
b) that he and Stolbova personally did not file any legal claims, but claims were filed by "other people/legal team?"

I think he's right; once the IOC made their decision, I think it was pretty clear there would be no overturning it. I believe he means that the claims were filed jointly by all the athletes who were banned. So it wasn't like Bukin got a personal lawyer.

From what I understand of this whole thing (and I don't understand much of it), I think the IOC had it all planned out in advance. They needed to ban two athletes that would send a message to Russia but wouldn't affect the medals, so they picked 1. an Olympic silver medalist in pairs who has struggled with chronic injuries and hasn't been at the top of her game for a while, and 2. the son of a famous ice dancer who hasn't yet reached medal contention. It all seems too perfect for political purposes. If there's proof to oppose this, then I'll change my stance.
