Final season of American Idol AI15

Wonder if Trent has a chance of winning, cuz it seemed at the start the producers want La Porsha to be final winner. But, now maybe Trent has a chance...

There is a place on the AI site where you can listen to all the performances from Thursday. Lyndsey Parker said today that Dalton has the most views which really surprises me. And he wasn't in the bottom 2. So he could surprise & be in the finale but I hope it's Trent & LaPortia with Trent winning.

LaPortia's hair was in braids & then wrapped around her head like a huge beehive. It was back to that caramel color & didn't really look like hair. It looked like strips of burlap that had been braided. I know that has nothing to do with her voice but :scream:

^^ Agreed .. I would've bought all of Trent's songs if I still bought AI covers. LaPortia was good, but not the standout for me. (And I actually watched this live and PVR'd the free dance. Hmmm ... :slinkaway )

She was good, but Tarrent stole the show. Sad to see MackCenzee leave, though. Dhallton was his usual blah self.

I am disappointed in the talent this season. Used to be a big fan. The singers in the current season of the Voice in my opinion are much better singers. Trent is my least favorite of the three. There is something sort of creepy about the way he sings.

Is everyone ready for the 1-2-3 punch of the final week? There are rumored to be around 50-ish or more past idols that will be in the finale.

I've been quite underwhelmed so far, so I'll continue to TiVo and watch the 2 hr shows in about 20 minutes. It will be nice to see some of them.

What do people think about AI and Scotty's song choice for La'Porsha to sing a song she did not like, one where she begs a man to "Stay With Me" after her backstory has made it clear that she recently left a husband who physically beat her?

I think they are bunch of bullies. That's not cool that they forced her to sing a song that she didn't want to sing. I don't understand why they did that to her. Maybe, they're trying to jeopardize her chances of being the winner. On the other hand, after Mackenzie was eliminated, he said that AI gave him more freedom than the Voice, in the sense that he was able to sing his own song twice on the show and if he had won, that was going to be his coronation song. Go figure...

Well, we already knew Scott is an idiot so I wasn't surprised. And it did feel like thrown under the bus to me but if it was then it backfired on them. LaPorsha handled it in a way that probably got her votes.

IMO Trent has been pulling away from the pack for the last 2 wks. He's the only one that I can imagine being on the radio stations that I listen to. And I'm sure Idol wants this year's winner to be successful - "bookend to Kelly", but they don't need manipulation at this point. If promoted right either Trent or LaPortia could be successful.

But she talked about racism. She's gone.

How could one be considered an American Idol if they infer racism is a bad thing?

Everybody knows racism is a bad thing. Does it need to be part of every conversation? And I don't want to hear it from a minority in a situation where she is clearly not being discriminated against. The attitude of "I'm black so I will never get a fair shot in any situation" is tiresome & untrue.

So the producers accomplished their goal with you then... they manufactured that in order for you to not vote for LaPortia. Yes, she said it, but these kids are tired. They all say stupid stuff. They never showed us how Chris Daughtrey was being difficult, or how David Archuletta's parents were stage parents, or how Phil Phillips was in the hospital every week. The show us what they want us to see so that we vote the way they want us to.

Actually they did show PP being in the hosp every week. And I have never voted for LaPortia anyway because I'm not a fan of diva voices. I can appreciate the talent but I only vote for people whose music I would buy. If I had been voting for her I wouldn't now stop, I only said she irritated me with that response.

Is it just me who thinks it is weird that people keep spelling the names of the white males correctly, but insist on spelling the name of the black female wrong? Even though I show in every post how La'Porsha is properly spelled?

No it doesn't. And it hasn't. La'Porsha only spoke about racism once.

And I don't want to hear it from a minority in a situation where she is clearly not being discriminated against.

La'Porsha (and no one else for that matter) stated that she (or they) were being discriminated against.

The attitude of "I'm black so I will never get a fair shot in any situation" is tiresome & untrue.

What words were spoken that made you think somebody was thinking this kind of thought?

What did La'Porsha say that you thought was stupid?

I said that they all say stupid things as a general quote. I was illustrating that the producers use those moments to skew results, and in this case, speaking about racism is the stupid part because it is what could turn voters against her. But you already knew that. You were just looking to create a fight, and you're not going to get that from me. Bye, PHALEESHA!

Exactly, and they never showed us that. They chose to completely skip that part of his journey. Producer manipulation.

If you never saw that then you must have missed many shows that year. I really thought that he was going to have to drop out. It was mentioned a lot.

Other than the apostrophe, I thought I was spelling it correctly. I admit I left it out deliberating. Not that she named herself but 2 things bug me about names - useless apostrophes (which seem pretentious)& using the middle name as a last name. Hello Lauren Alaina - yarite. Portia & Porsha sound the same so that misspelling wasn't deliberate.

Regarding the final 2, very happy and think they got it right. I'm honestly torn between them - I've loved La'Porsha the entire season, but Trent has been magnificent these last few weeks. I'm happy with either winning, though, and glad it's going out on a high note. Dalton was great with his honest reaction of happiness for Trent, but if had been in final 2, or even had won, it would have been Lee Dewyze all over again - nice musician with no voice.

At least Dalton has a personality and was more entertaining to watch. Lee, on the other hand has zero personality and was sooooo boring to watch, like watching paint dry. The worst AI winner evah!

What is ironic about Dalton is that he's a vocal coach, but he can't sing in tune. I wonder.....are his students being taught to sing incorrectly????

My vote goes to Trent, but if La'Porsha wins, that's fine. Not my favorite winners, so it doesn't really matter.

Even if Mackenzie didn't win, at least he did much better than on the Voice and he even got to perform his own song twice on AI.

I'm really glad the best voices (of the ones the judges didn't cut - coughJessica Cabrel) ended up in the finale. I like Dalton & I don't think we've heard the last of him but he clearly shouldn't have won over Trent or La'Porsha.

Trent got the best winner's song. La'Porsha got the worst. She did the best she could with it but it's the usual Idol coronation dreck. I've read some of the reviews & no one seems to like her song. I couldn't understand the words of Dalton's so no idea if it's a good one. I thought Trent won all 3 rounds. La'Porsha didn't sing Diamonds nearly as good as last time & I hated her version of House is not a Home. Both songs had far too many runs & I thought she changed up her last one too much. Tamyra Grey's version is the one I like. This was the 1st time I thought she did not have a good night at all. She was pretty emotional so that may have affected her. But I'm fine with either winning.

Wait ... no Adam Lambert?! :(

The only thing more I would have liked is a short clip of Ryan announcing the winner of each season, that "moment" when he says the winners name and run through all 15 seasons winners.

I'm only half an hour into the finale and already I'm blown away. So many highlights already! Having to run into my computer room to wiki everybody. Most surprising thing I didn't know was that Bo Bice (was that really him on stage??) is the lead vocalist for Blood, Sweat and Tears! :respec: Biggest  so far (well, maybe of the whole series) is why the entertainment world couldn't find a way to make Tamyra Gray a huge star. And :cheer: moment is finding out that Allison Iraheta is coming out with an album this year as lead vocalist for the group Halo Circus. Maybe the song she sand is their first single? (I didn't recognize it.)
