Final season of American Idol AI15

Wow, that finale was everything I wanted it to be and more! Will have to go back and watch again...

I totally agree. I've saved my recording of the show for a 2nd viewing. It was absolutely FANTASTIC!!! So many fun and fabulous performances from all the contestants from past seasons. I'd forgotten how really good a lot of these people were/are. The "WOW" moments just kept coming and coming for me throughout the entire finale. Best show on TV this week for me. :cheer: :respec:

I thought the finale was brilliant. Instead of the "big acts", they used the Idols for every song (except the judges' performances, of course - and the less said about jlo the better). There was some phenomenal singing going on tonight.

I was happy with either winning, and it's been announced that both Trent and La'Porsha are getting recording contracts, so bravo and brava to them!

Every time a new group number comes on, I think "that's the best one yet"!

Loved the (guy) rockers, guess they're saving David Cook for later?

Carrie Underwood looked too skinny!! :(

Ace Young is still stupendously gorgeous! :swoon:

The country number was fabulous, wondered where Casey James was though, but they saved him for a duet with the wonderful Katharine McPhee.

More in the Tamyra Gray "why hasn't the world made a star out of..." category: LaToya London, Carly Smithson and Pia Toscano.

I could have lived without the 18 minute Jennifer Lopez performance. Could have lived without Keith Urban or Harry Connick Jr. performing for that matter as well!

Jennifer...Fantasia...LaToya... Somebody fan me!! :respec:

The soul guys number was good, everybody is so well rehearsed tonight. Everybody's killing it!!

First of all I had not realized the number of hits Kelly had since winning it all. I am impressed. She, along with LaToya London, Ruben Studdard and Adam Lambert are my "final four" favorites. And I guess I will give a shout out to a home town Idol hero Chris Mann. (oops he is Voice. see other posts) And Ruben's voice is still so clear and sweet. There is a choirboy in that large frame.

Oh..that is right. Well here's the thing. After he finished fourth on Idol he then went to The Voice...and finished fourth. What else can he do?

 Fourth on American Idol? Are you getting him confused with Joshua Gracin (season two)? Or Anthony Federov (season four)? Chris Daughtry (season five)? Maybe Jason Castro (season seven)?

Didn't recognize Bo Bice either. He looked kinda like Bono/Sting. I didn't expect Carly Smithson to sing so well. Enjoyed all the group numbers. I wonder if all the former top contestants were contacted to perform in the finale. I would think that most of them would jump at the opportunity to participate barring unforeseen circumstances. I didn't see Nikki McKibben, Jax, Syesha, Vonzell, Crystal Bowersox, Haley Reinhart, Angie Miller,
Alex Preston. I guess Trent as the winner surprised the judges. It seemed that Trent didn't think that he would win judging by his reaction to the result.

NO DAMMIT I SAW HIM!! Just kidding. I was confusing our local singing legends. The guy who was on Idol was named Phil Stacey. And Chris was Voice. But I was happy living in my little make-believe bubble. :p

I loved seeing Allison & Bo & all the others. But where was Haley Reinhart?

On the road, earning $. After the way she was treated, I don't think she treasures the Idol experience.

And it is over. Here we are on page 10 of a thread that covers the whole season. Five years ago, we'd be on page 10 of the weekly episode thread about halfway through the show. Out.

I saw Wednesday's (with Adam Lambert) and Thursday's shows, and really enjoyed them both, although I've not kept up with Idol this season. Adam Lambert made a great spokesperson on the Wednesday show. Last night was memorable. I was really pleased they brought together so many folks. Good job.

The only jarring notes were JLo's see-thru dress on Wednesday & her utterly disgusting & ridiculous dance/lip-sync on Thursday.

IMO she is the one who put the final nail in the coffin for AI.

BTW, 10 yrs later, Melinda Doolittle was still adorable. Colton Dixson's hair was ridiculous. And why give that much (or any) airtime to Kara D?

Just catching up on PVR. Echo most of the comments above, with the exception that I would've like to see more of Ruben Studdard .. heck, non winners got more air time then he did. He's still a fave. :)

La'Porsha has made news for doing an interview where she talks about disagreeing with the LGBT lifestyle. Apparently no one told her that a large portion of her fanbase are those people whom she thinks have picked some disagreeable lifestyle. Not a good start for her and an immediate turn-off for me. I won't be purchasing her single or any music unless she shows that she has changed.

So much for the producer's plan to have a female be the bookend to Kelly Clarkson. As hard as they tried to manipulate the show (like more than half of the top 10 were females), a WGWG wins again. That's what you get for trying to rig the show.

I like WGWGs. I buy a lot of that kind of music. But I think what hurt La'Porsha is that Trent showed a huge learning curve during the season & she didn't. The same thing happened to Melinda Doolittle & even she showed more improvement than La'Porsha. In fact it happens almost every season. The ones who enter the competition already polished & almost perfect don't win - Pia, Elliott Yamin, Jessica Sanchez, Joshua Ledet. I'm sure there are more examples.

Well, it may say something that my brain didn't retain the winner's name. I suspect that I am not alone.

The last minute of JLo's number was particularly cringe-worthy. It wasn't bad enough that she bent over and stuck her butt to the audience, but she then thrust her hand beween her legs and waved :scream:. And why does she constantly emphasize her butt as if it's the 8th Wonder of the World or something? It's a butt; Everyone has one.
