FIFA World Cup 2018

If it’s any consolation to Ireland I just checked Wikipedia:

“Canada at the FIFA World Cup. This is a record of Canada's results at the FIFA World Cup. Canada has appeared in the FIFA World Cup on one occasion, which was in 1986.”

:slinkaway

The first thing I thought of when they announced the 2026 location of Canada, US, Mexico was "Hey we (Canada) will be in the World Cup!"

And lost all three matches without scoring even a single goal. :shuffle:

Broleada is traveling to Saransk tonight. He dropped off his luggage at the train station earlier today before touristing around Moscow. He said the station was entirely full of other Colombians doing the same and he had pictures to prove it

It's going to be so cool if there is a WC match in Montreal (though I'm definitely torn about the cost especially given our Olympic history). :scream:

Convincing win by Belgium...now come on England. :)

Making over £100 on this game regardless of outcome, matched betting rules. ;)

Watching England is always a roller coaster and I'm not sure my heart can take it. However it was a decent outing and 3 points secured. Penalty was debatable but there you have it. Can enjoy the matches again until Sunday ?.

Oh come on - it was clearly tongue in cheek time - but so hilarious :rofl::rollin:

I'll agree that it was hilarious. For different reasons though. ;)

Gary Lineker called England's performance "exceptional" though. English football punditry really needs a reality check. They struggled to beat Tunisia!

I agree, the level of hysteria at whatever (Cricket, Rugby or Football) World Cup is being played is just unbeliable. The comments and attitude always verges of England winning the World Cup as a right of England which is being denied by these undeserving countries. I am happy to support most other lottery funded athletes from England but not in these sports.

Sorry but this is just bull. Every team goes to the WC anticipating they can go all the way and win it. This time around the expectations for England are lower than in previous years by both the public and pundits.

Yes the pundits get excited but are you telling me the pundits and fans in other countries display no emotion when it comes to their national teams. Check the press and pundits in Argentina and Germany after their opening games. Yet England get called hysterical for doing the same.

It probably is lower than previous years, but still is hysterical. Germany are world no.2, reigning world champions, and they lost. If that wasn’t a huge shock what else is? Anyway I very happy to root against England at the World Cup.

I don’t speak Spanish and German. If I did I would call out the commentators/analysts for being hysterical if they were doing so. Football/sports punditry is a very different game here. We expect the analysts to be brutally honest especially about the Irish team. If any of them had ever so much as suggested that Ireland had a chance to win the World Cup the three times we qualified they would have been laughed off the TV.

Fans are fans. Of course I don’t have a problem with them/you being excited.

Broleada made it to Saransk and is at the stadium. Sorry Japan fans, but you are outnumbered  The train was full of Colombian fans drinking aguardiente and singing Diomedes Diaz.

ETA: I can’t speak about Colombian pundits but most people feel that a QF will be a success and doesn’t think we will win. Except the lunatic fans in yellow, blue and red Optimus Prime costumes interviewed by Telemundo who seem to think we will win.

Even after the Germany victory the Telemundo pundits were trying to keep realistic expectations by pointing out that Mexico haven’t really won anything yet.
