I think it’s through Prime but actually on Max. You might want to check costs. I got a 50% off deal for the ad-free version of Max directly from Max.
Thank. I already have Prime because I subscribe(it's there). I let my Max subscription after the Gilded Age concluded. Waiting for the next season to re-up on Max. For the first time in 6 year, I let my Netflix subscription go. May re-up in the future.

No, that’s what I mean. You will have to pay for a Max subscription to “subscribe” through Prime. That’s what it shows on my screen anyway. It says “Watch with Max.”

So I learned recently that I get MAX free through our cable system. Over the weekend, I did all the sign up stuff and decided to start watching The Pitt with Noah Wyle which I had heard about but figured I would never get a chance to see since I didn't have MAX. I am happy to report that watching it turned out to be a VERY good choice since I blew through all seven of the available episodes just in time to watch the new ep tomorrow. I absolutely love it! It's such a great show and I'm already growing attached to this cast. They are all SO different but I love how well they work together (the head nurse is my favorite person) and their stories are all so fascinating. So happy that I finally get to watch this show and can't wait for the new ep tomorrow night! :cheer:

What all would you guys recommend for me to check out on MAX? I've become more picky with some of my TV choices lately but I'm curious what you guys are watching on this streaming service. :)

The Blockbusters (a commitment to be sure): The Wire, The Sopranos, Game of Thrones, Succession

Great Limited Series: Chernobyl, Band of Brothers, Mare of Easttown, True Detective, Big Little Lies, Station Eleven, Watchmen

Laughter/Lighter Fare: Silicon Valley, Somebody Somewhere, Sex and the City, VEEP, Girls, The White Lotus

Regular Series: True Blood, The Leftovers, Deadwood, Rome, Euphoria, Westworld

Probably your best bet is to go to those greatest shows on HBO/MAX lists to get an idea. They were the pinnacle at one point, then first among equals and now other streaming services match them but they defintely have the best catalog of their own programming. And I've left many off....happy hunting.

I took forever to get around to watching The Wire but I made a list of things I wanted to do when Covid started and that show, among a few others, were on it. Wonderful. It's always near the top of any list of 'Best TV Series Ever'.
Great Limited Series: Chernobyl, Band of Brothers, Mare of Easttown, True Detective, Big Little Lies, Station Eleven, Watchmen
Chernobyl was really brilliant.
Laughter/Lighter Fare: Silicon Valley, Somebody Somewhere, Sex and the City, VEEP, Girls, The White Lotus
I've watched VEEP so many times, and I love The White Lotus. I'd add to the list here Getting On. I think only the American version in on there but it is the most accurate representation of nurse/hospital life that I've ever seen- both the British and American series. I sped through the entire first US season on a plane to Palm Springs over a decade ago, and I was laughing so hard that surely the people seated next to me must have thought I was crazy.

HBO also has The Last of Us.

ETA- The Comeback for laughter. I don't know how I could forget it. One of my all-time favorite shows.

Peacock had a new limited series based on the book The Long Bright River. I read the book when it came out and really enjoyed it. Watched episode 1 tonight and it’s good television, but not as tight and tense as the book.

Also slightly dismayed at the lack of Philadelphia accents :drama: but better than trying and mangling it, I suppose

Found Top Chef Duels which features a three phase competition on Peacock. The two chefs have to first tackle each other's challenge using only 30 minutes; each winner gets $10K. The last phase features a three course meal of the Top Chef Theme. The winning chef advances to a final round. I'm on episode 3 which features Andrew Zimmern with 3 weird ingredients. I won't spoil it or you. :)

Law and Order is doing an episode next week based on the Luigi Mangione case(Thursday, 3/20/25) at 8 PM.

Did anyone else watch this episode? It was the 'Law & Order' version so 'really not really' the same premise. Apply it to the real version, they did a pretty good explanation of why people are reacting the way they are. Although I was not happy at the ending because:

We find the Defendant .......... fade to black. I get why they did that, but it still made me  there was not a 'Law & Order' ending.

Also, in New York State, there is an option to contact the NYS Department of Health as well as the NYS Insurance Department to appeal all care management denials of care, an avenue was not explored/followed.

Law & Order did a similar storyline some time ago. A father kills the executive who denied his kid a certain experimental treatment for his life threatening condition. The father got off.

Now, I’m wondering what crimes Law & Order (and SVU) haven’t done an episode on……😬

Daredevil Born Again 1x5: OMG! It had Kamala Khan’s dad as a big part of the episode and of course dad is bragging about New Jersey’s Ms Marvel! And episode 1x6 gave a wink and a nod to Kate Bishop with Jack Duquesne making a small appearance! :cheer2:

This could be interesting...

Netflix Announces First-Ever Live-Action Scooby-Doo Series

Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot updates say that it will focus on a slayer named Nova who will be mentored by Buffy (Sarah Michelle Geller). I hope they do this reboot justice. Buffy is iconic.

I'm glad they're not just doing a retread of the original BTVS, with new actors replacing the OGs. I'm not a big fan of reboots, really. Other than the 2003 Battlestar Galactica, which was a truly innovative twist on the original series from the 1970s. That one remains one of my top 5 TV series all-time, even with the WTF ending.

I am enjoying a weekly one hour series on Britbox called Ludwig. There is an overarching mystery continuing each week and there is also a separate, unrelated puzzle to solve in that hour. It stars are Anna Maxwell Martin and David Mitchell.

I haven't got around to starting Ludwig yet, but am really looking forward to it. It's not on Britbox here in Australia - it's on the app for one of the free-to-air channels but and I need to look up my password for that app - would be easier if it was on Britbox which I use all the time.

Speaking of apps: Aussies - Max launched in Australia today. I believe it's $7.99 a month for basic with ads.

I've been watchin Happy Face on Paramount. It says based on a true story so I always wonder how much is true and how much was added for drama. I've never read or watched anything about the Happy Face killer. It also made me wonder if anything from The Mentalist's serial killer Red John was based on this guy since he too left happy faces behind.

So far it's pretty good. I could have done without the story at the dinner party in episode 3. Warning to those who are watching but don't want to know, you are better off fast forwarding through if you think you are on the squeamish side.

Started watching The Bondsman on Amazon Prime. I wasn’t sure if I needed a supernatural-horror-gory-action TV show staring Kevin Bacon, but the first few episodes have been intriguing so far.

If you are turned off by demonic and/or gory stuff, I would recommend skipping this.

I really liked The Bondsman but the biggest problem I have with it isn’t the subject matter but that Bacon looks older than the woman playing his mother. LOL

Kevin Bacon (66) is only nine years younger than Beth Grant (75). 😱

I’m liking this series so far. I’m hoping it gets renewed for a second season.

I finished Adolescence, which I found very good.

Now I'm very late to the party, but I finally started White Lotus, so wonderful, I love it.

And gonna watch the 2nd season of The Last of Us, when it starts soon.
