Got a one week free subscription to Paramount Plus and have been binge watching Halo. Love the series but unfortunately it is only 2 seasons long. It is flawed but still really good. Hope it gets revived somewhere else soon.

Section 31 on Paramount is just bad. It doesn't even feel like Star Trek. I wish I could say that at least you get to see Michelle Yeoh being badass but I can't. Even she couldn't save this turd. It was boring and bad with nothing to redeem it.

I fell asleep in the middle of it and didn't even bother rewinding. I didn't miss anything important that wasn't predictable or easy to guess.

It was very predictable. I had fun though. I like a good romp, even if it's a low-quality one. Plus... Michelle Yeoh.

The FireAid concert was very good. Great lineup. It's available to watch on Peacock for several more days. I think it may be available on other streaming services as well.

Did anyone watch the premiere of Paradise on Hulu? Dan Fogelman always brings a good twist!

I did not see the twist in the first episode coming until close to the reveal. I've watched the first two episodes. I thought it was a slow start, but they've reeled me in.

I have a three month free trial for Apple+ from Best Buy that I'm about to start. I'll have to see what's there.

I've also got to see what I want to watch on MAX. I got a good six-month deal from them for Black Friday, but I always forget about them and haven't watched much. Dog House U.K. is a show on MAX that always lifts my spirits, but I don't think there are any more new seasons.

Finished Halo season 2 and it was much better than season one. But the ending didn’t satisfactorily wrap up the story.

Have you had it before? If not (and maybe even if): Slow Horses, Ted Lasso, Shrinking, The Morning Show, Fathom, The Year Earth Changed, most of the Tom Hanks snort films, Disclaimer. I’ve watched all 3 seasons of Ted Lasso four times now, and still enjoy it because I notice different things each time, and the acting is mostly so fantastic.

I think you’re right about Dog House U.K. I got an offer from Max for basically half off the ad-free price for 6 months, and the offer is good until October, so I will wait a few months and then subscribe. Need to time it so I can get another offer at Black Friday.

I think I'm having a hard time getting past that it doesn't feel like Star Trek and just didn't meet the standard. Otherwise it probably is a somewhat ok generic sci-fi movie with some very cheesy dialogue. There were a few moments where I cringed for the actors having to deliver some of those lines.

I loved Joss Whedon's shows so much. Buffy, Angel, Firefly... peak TV for me. And Neil Gaiman was my favorite author for a very long time. I know everyone has a dark side, but it seems like a lot of the people I once looked up to as creators have turned out to be monsters in one way or another.

Money and/or power can corrupt people. Plus being a celebrity means being adored and given a pass for all sorts of behavior. It goes to their heads.

IOW, it's not just your heroes.

I came here to write almost exactly this. I watched Section 31 yesterday and it just didn't feel like Star Trek. It was not good and the dialogue was very poorly written.

Sometimes you need to separate the creator from what they've created in order to continue enjoying it, and remember that, at least in the case of TV and movies, a lot of people contributed to producing them so it's not just one person's vision. Harder to do with authors of course.

I know. It's just very difficult to do. I still haven't watched season 2 of Good Omens, and I'm unsure if I'm ready to watch season 2 of The Sandman if/when it's released. There was a time when I would have binged the whole thing in a weekend.

It's especially hard because Gaiman actively showran both Good Omens and The Sandman. So while there's tons of people there making the show work, he was still coordinating it. I never watched season 2 of Good Omens though it wasn't for Neil Gaiman reasons because IIRC the allegations hadn't come out yet when season 2 came out. I just never got around to watching it. But Sandman has some actors that I really love so skipping that one is going to be hard but I don't know if I can stomach watching it either considering everything.

I don't know if it's harder with authors. I think it's easier with dead people and harder with people you've come to know in some way (i.e., have a para-social relationship with).

As for Good Omens, dh and I started the second season and couldn't get very far through it. IOW, you aren't missing much. ;)

Yeah, I was part of Gaiman's Tumblr community for a while (it's the only social media he's been a part of in recent years), although I didn't actively contribute all that much. He just seemed so relatable. So nice. I'm still struggling to reconcile that side of him with the allegations that have come out.

I think I can still watch Stardust because it deviates from the book by quite a bit, and I don't associate Coraline with him. I also don't associate the "Day of the Dead" episode of Babylon 5 with him.

"Stardust" is one of my favorite movies, ever. It ranks right up there with "The Princess Bride" for me. It's a little easier to dissociate that from Gaiman because his involvement with the movie was peripheral. And I refuse to allow anything to ruin my enjoyment of it.

I still remember that Nebelhorn Trophy some years ago, where my friend and I thought, that John Coughlin just seems like the nicest fun popular guy among the skaters. Might be the reason these people can do what they do.

I'm currently watching the 2 later episodes of Simone Biles documentary.

Before that I saw "No good deed", which had such a promising cast, but unfortunately the plot didn't really keep up with the potential. Still loved seeing Lisa Kudrow and Linda Cardellini in great roles.

Anyone else watching Scamanda, a cancer scam artist? Here's the series overview.

I just cannot imagine someone faking cancer to the degree that she did as well as the elaborate grifting that occurred. Evidently, there's also a podcast.

Me, too. I’ve decided not to read any more Gaiman books or finish his backlist.

I was pleasantly surprised to find a book recently that feels similar to Good Omens, but without the abuse-of-women author baggage. It’s called When the Angels Left the Old Country by Sacha Lamb. Hopefully, I will continue to find books that fill the creative fantasy hole that Gaiman left behind.
