Recommendations for what I should binge watch this weekend? :)

I just finished watching the second season finale of Shrinking. Oh my God, what a fantastic show with amazing performances. The finale had wonderful work by Harrison Ford, Jason Segal, and Brett Goldstein. Amazing. They all deserve an Emmy for their work on this show.
I finished last night, and I laughed, cried, and felt every emotion in between. One of my favorite seasons of a TV show in recent years. It's been an emotionally tough few days around here with the terrorist attack, and this show was exactly what I needed to escape the news cycle and feel good about humanity.

Sorry for the double reply - tried to edit my post and failed lol. Definitely watch Shrinking!! Two seasons of 30-minute episodes so easy to get through in a weekend. :) I also love For All Mankind but it's longer episodes and more seasons. I really enjoyed Presumed Innocent as well, which is only eight episodes.

I loved Lessons in Chemistry.
And if you liked Bridgerton, then you might enjoy The Buccaneers!

I would say Ted Lasso but the episodes got longer each season so…. Do you need to sleep or anything? ;)

Otherwise Shrinking because:

The documentary Fathom, about researchers studying whale song in two different regions, is fascinating. Also a documentary called The Year Earth Changed, about the first year of the pandemic, is great.

If you like science fiction then Foundation is very good, but it requires your full attention.

Crap this looks good. Two of my favorite actresses. And for those arent able to see the movie, the last showgirl with Pamela Anderson, Jamie Lee Curtis is terrific.

I binge watched Nobody Wants This last night on Netflix. I liked it more than I thought I would.

I was skeptical that I would like a rom-com with a couple like this (an agnostic sex podcaster and an apparently unconventional rabbi), but it kept me going. And after the last episode, I’m not sure what will happen with everyone next.

It will be interesting to see what they do with season two - I’m assuming this is renewed.

Shallow point: I typically prefer clean shaven men, but Adam Brody looks better with a beard here than when he was “baby-faced” on The OC and Gilmore Girls. And I mean A LOT better. ☺️

I think I’m going to run out of time to get my TV watching completed for the Golden Globes tomorrow night. 😔

And BTW, these are the current betting odds for Best Actor for a TV Musical or Comedy. Is Adam Brody actually going to win over Jeremy Allen White (The Bear)? 🤔 😱

I am rooting so hard for Adam Brody. I thought S3 of The Bear was very meh and Jeremy Allen White’s character has always been my least favorite on the show.

I want to give the writers flowers for some of the best rom-com dialogue I've heard in a long while. Looking foward to more...

I liked the Britbox preview:

If we are awarding Rachel Reilly with a Golden Globe, then I recommend not talking about it, tbh.

She married Brendon?? Do they just, like, scream at each other all day or what?

Thanks for the Shrinking recommendation - I should be able to finish season 2 today!

Did Brendon ever get his PhD??? That was just so random to hear, like. How did he get in with all the reality TV shows he kept doing???

Do we prefer to use this thread for tonight's Golden Globes Awards https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/threads/the-2024-25-awards-season-thread.112247/#post-6709431 or start a separate thread?

I would prefer to use the Awards Thread. Especially considering that SAG nominations will be announced on January 8, Critics Choice is next Saturday, BAFTA nominations will be out January 15, and the Oscar nominations will be announced on January 17. I would prefer to keep all this in one thread.

Medalist Episode 1 is out now on Hulu.
Written and illustrated by Tsurumaikada, Medalist is the best manga you aren’t reading. With gorgeous, intricate artwork that captures the magnetism of its characters and the strength and agility that goes into figure skating, the series, more often than not, stuns. While intensive artistry is undoubtedly a focal point, the story truly excels due to its writing, which arms with instantly lovable characters and relatable stories about trying to either achieve our dreams or reconfigure said dreams when life gets in the way. There’s magic in the pages of Tsurumaikada’s work, managing to combine broad comedy with subtle, vital, emotional character work that culminates in easy-to-consume material.

Special Forces: Worlds Toughest Test ....

Stephen Baldwin: I ... cannot .... get hurt!
Me: Then why ... did you sign up .... for this show!

This show is on Season 3. They can watch past Seasons. Surely their "people" have explained to them this show is not a cake walk. It's not a celebrity 'get me in the spotlight' show. It's not playing a few games or getting into petty arguments. It's brutal! It's mentally and physically borderline abusive! You will get injured! You will get sick! You will be deprived of comfort and food and sleep and be subjected to brutal conditions and tough mental and physical challenges! This show is designed to break you mentally and physically! To sit there and go "I got a gig after this, I can't get hurt" to get them to medically eliminate you from the show instead of just quitting like everyone else will have to do when they can't take the pain or the mental abuse .... then why the hell you sign up for this show!

I feel so bad for these people watching this show because they just normal people and mostly not physically fit like a real Marine recruit would be. Even the athletes, who are probably more fit than the actors, are not really at their physical peak anymore, but at least know their bodies well and more than likely have had to deal with the aggressive treatment. This show is absolutely insane and I can't believe anyone would volunteer to put themselves through this show..... but I kinda love it and can't look away.:yikes:

This is my problem with all such shows, both the extreme ones like this and the more mundane (e.g. property shows), and whether it's celebrities or ordinary people. Once they get past the first couple of seasons nobody has an excuse for not knowing how the show works.

I get it, but to be fair, doing something that's physically challenging is one thing and doing something that you KNOW will cause you injury is something else.
