Still no Cleveland, but at least it's close... But no tunnel, which would make traveling there so much faster by vehicle.

I called the Detroit Sports Commission today. Tickets are now projected to go on sale around the first two weeks of March. The official hotel will be announced when tickets go on sale.
Whether they were ready to sell or not, they could have had a booth, or had materials at the USFS booth, with basic info on dates, venues, the city, hotels, prices, when tix were going on sale ("early March" would have been fine). Their audience was right there. It could be that they weren't very organized at that point but the event was awarded several months ago, plus they bid on 2018, so it would seem like the groundwork was there. I wonder if it was a conscious decision by USFS to say, we want people to focus on the Olys, we'll hold off until afterward....but really, what skating fans aren't going to be excited for the Olys, whether or not they read a brochure about next year's Nats? I think there's enough excitement to go around. While personally I think it's great that they aren't demanding money years in advance, this does bring into question their "official" reason for not being at Nationals this year. Maybe they weren't concerned about the fans missing skating to buy tickets, because it appears they were not really ready to sell![]()
Ugh. Love that it's in Detroit but hate that so many of the non-senior events are in Bloomfield Hills. I guess it will all come down to the schedule.
USFS does not control ticket sales, the LOC does, and well they should considering the guaranteed payments that USFS demands.I wonder if it was a conscious decision by USFS to say, we want people to focus on the Olys, we'll hold off until afterward....
The LOC handles the pricing and logistics of ticket sales, but they take direction from USFS, in terms of timing, seats blocked off, etc. If USFS wanted them to hold off until after the Olys (and we don't know, I was just wondering), they would comply.USFS does not control ticket sales, the LOC does, and well they should considering the guaranteed payments that USFS demands.
They may choose to comply, but discretion about when to sell tickets belongs to the LOC.The LOC handles the pricing and logistics of ticket sales, but they take direction from USFS, in terms of timing, seats blocked off, etc. If USFS wanted them to hold off until after the Olys (and we don't know, I was just wondering), they would comply.
It's pouring down rain here so to amuse myself I called the Detroit Sports Commission (they said the first of March tickets would go on sale and it is March 1st. So they still don't have a date for the sale but told me to call back around March 19. And no official hotel yet.
*sigh* And no news about Anaheim 4CC either. It's not like some of us are trying to plan a trip halfway around the world for this or anything. Heck, I don't think we even have a venue for Anaheim yet.
*settles in to wait*

There's no ticket or hotel information for Skate America yet either, so I wouldn't hold my breath on 4CC information since that's later in the game. You know how USFS is incapable of multitasking lol.
I wonder if they're waiting to gauge the post Olympic bump to decide how to price the tickets.

shut up! That’s like stupid cheap! Lake placid was like $35 for mid range seats iircSkate America is so darn cheap. Portland was right after Vancouver, when Davis/White were top dog. Weren't tickets something like $8?

Honda Center. Nowhere else to put it!
Ooooh, thankyou for the intel! I will now begin scoping.![]()
They are expecting a bump from two bronze medals? (Yes I know one was a team medal but it counts as one on the tally sheet) Really? That might not have been a good idea if that was the plan
That would probably only bump ticket sales if the Shibs were competing. So far, they haven't committed to next season, and I would be surprised if they competed. They could get a bump from the Shibs' medal since they train locally and get a lot of press here.

There’s a hotel across the street that’s great—the Ayres.we’ll be staying there!
Well, there's a Citizens Bank Arena in Ontario. I feel certain USFS could make that "Anaheim".
