2026 Olys Pairs SP PBP - Veni, Vidi, Wedgie

What is it with Bandit and pairs skating? She is really resentful of the amount of focus I give it and is always coming 'round for cuddles & snuggling whenever there is pairs skating on. She's been harassing me since the start of the 2nd group. Then, she disappeared during this ice resurfacing and has just jumped back up here, insistently meowing for attention.

I doubt she'll medal, but if Deanna was on that podium, I'd cry and cry and cry. She was the last skater where I was like, all in, YEESSSS, she's THE ONE. It really did break my heart when she had to retire prematurely. I was all in and truly believed she was going to revive US women's skating in the gap left by Michelle Kwan. While the more mature skating fan :P I am now would prefer the Italians, Japanese, and Germans to medal as a fan of the sport, if Deanna medals, the 20-something in me will go absolutely wild with joy.

Oh. The Rungarians. I always forget they're a thing but while they're skating, I always hope they do well. Even if they're skating to Michael Jackson.

I was relieved not to have to listen to Daniel Weiß, the Infamous horrible German commentator until today.

He hasn't said one word after the Brits, only complaining about how lowballed the Germans were. "I cannot understand...."

Just shut up and comment on what you see.

Even now at the end of the group he says "I'm still angry, I cannot explain it".

Vintage Daniel:scream:

Annika & Robert did well today, but their ice coverage is very sad and skating after Perreira & Michaud brought that to even more attention today.

These Hungarians are from Russia? Isn’t Hungarian a really hard language to learn? IIRC, isn’t it nothing like other European languages that could help you learn it? Apologies if this seems dumb.

Fantastic skate for Pavlova & S that should go sailing into the lead, but once again, SBS jumps were time zones apart. I hate these green boxes for jumps with enormous unison breaks. Better SBS jump unison than other teams, though.

Tech score is behind the Canadians, which is a little surprising to me.

Triple Twist 4
Throw 3F
3T
Reverse Lasso Lift 4
Back Inside Death Spiral 3
Step Sequence 3

Change Foot Combo Spin 4

Another solid skate for Maria & Alexei this season. A little off the music this time out, but otherwise very strong.

Q SP: 73.87 = 2nd Place

PavSvia - 3tw - beautiful; throw 3f - very nice; SBS 3t - really nice & close together; lift - solid; BIDS - fine if unremarkable; step seq - good enough; SBS spins - unison a bit off but okay.

TES is below PerMich... Guess we need to prepare for another frowny face in the KnC from them when they wind up without a SB - and maybe behind SuiHan, who really were unbelievably propped up.

Got to work in time for the warm-up. Decided I could afford to miss the Rungarians in favour of getting coffee. I'm gathering from the commentary it was good but I can come back to it later.

They are both Russian and train in Russia. I doubt they speak much Hungarian at all.
