2022 Skate America

The projected forecast for Norwood next week. Find the arrow on the right and scroll to next weekend's forecast. A bit nippy at night but fair.

Jason in the house! (Ok a bit too early) :D

I'm not sure if I will be there in the end. My mom passed away suddenly.

I know she'd want me to go, and all I would do would be sitting at home upset, but it just feels odd doing something frivolous (we won't be having a service or anything for a bit).

She was really looking forward to watching on Peacock 😭

I'm the Event Timer for the men's free skate! 😯 Not sure what I've gotten myself into, but I've wanted to volunteer for years. I had 3 shifts for Nashville, then couldn't go. 😭
I've done this job and it is probably the best volunteer job in the building because you'll sit next to the referee at centre ice and use a stopwatch and that's it, but you have the viewpoint of a judge.

I’m so sorry. :(

I'm so sorry, Lanie. If you are driving it might be possible to come to part of the event and just play it by ear. There's really no way to know in advance how you'll feel. :cry:

Lanie, I am so sorry for your loss. It is difficult to navigate grief, but go with your gut. My mom passed away 3 weeks before we were set to go to Nationals in 2014. I decided to honor her memory by going, and there were a lot of tears involved. But it was cathartic and actually helped.

Honestly, that’s what I’m thinking. I will be with friends, all of you FSU family, seeing @oleada again! and rooming with a dear friend so I won’t be alone…

Go with your gut, I always say (as @kiss-n-cry also says!). If your instincts tell you that going might be a comfort, you should go. Lots of love and prayers for you during this awful time. ❤️

@Lanie my sincere sympathies.

When my parents died of CoVID almost two years ago, I was really isolated because no one was vaccinated yet and we couldn’t go anywhere. But just being on Zoom for work every day was therapeutic, I was with nice sympathetic people. And Skate America is much more fun than any job.
