Finally got a chance to watch, it was wonderful. Nice crowd and stunning backdrop.

Zach/Maddison and Brandon/Alexa haven’t skated together in a bit so they were out. Evan needs to save his back for actual competition as he has at least two more years to go. Japan’s pairs are youngish/competing or retired but married so easy to do. At least that’s my rationale.

Edit: And now I take the above back, Brandon did lift Alexa:

Brandon and Alexa skate in shows together very frequently.

Isuresults still has the pre-penalty scores up, lol.

I remember during the Games, Karen was really unhappy with her efforts in the team final.

But I hope she knows that the GOE she earned on her spins in the SP (2.98) was enough to make the difference between the 5th place she got and 7th place.

Team USA only won by 2 points. I don't know who would have won the tiebreaker but this stood out to me.

I am watching the Peacock replay of the ceremony (I missed it due to work) and I am impressed with not only how many people showed up for it but how lovely and warm they made it for the skaters. Having watched almost the entire US team since they were just little novice and junior skaters, the entire thing definitely made me get teary too.....they waited SO long for that moment and they finally got it! :wuzrobbed :cheer:

And team Japan was freaking adorable too! :D

The late night show just had the team on. Hopefully there will be a clip available for those who aren't crazy enough to stay up until 12:30 like me (although I did get to see some skateboarding and climbing, which I haven't seen yet). Maria Taylor gave them champagne and escargot (only Zach was brave enough to eat the latter  ) and asked them the standard questions about how they felt when they hears about the gold, when did they find out they were getting their medals (answer:5 or 6 days ago), who will be in Milan (everyone pointed to Madi and Evan and they raised their hands). Everyone talked about how proud they were of the team.

:cheer2:

They mentioned the skaters finally getting their medals and showed a very short video on the Today Show but there was no indication they plan to have any of the skaters on. I really would have liked to see NBC make a bigger deal about it.

Saw the overnight interview. Karen and Alexa were the only ones who didn't say anything, although most of the responses were fairly short. Madison Hubbell pointed out you can't replace a ceremony at their games, but that this one comes close, especially because Vincent could be there to share it and he wouldn't have been able to in Beijing. Nice to see them all relaxed and happy.
