2022 Olympic FS Team Event delayed medal ceremony - updates

I imagine he’s the headliner, so it wouldn’t be easy to pull that off. I’m sure he would have been there if possible.
Sure, but even headliners have to cancel once in a while. What if he were injured?

I love Shoma, but he will never have the opportunity to get an Olympic medal ever again. He will be skating in ice shows for a long time to come. One missed performance -- especially under these special circumstances -- shouldn't have been that big of a deal. There are plenty of decent elite skaters in the Lambiel camp (right there in Switzerland) that could have taken over.

I believe this was Shoma's decision which, of course, was his right to make.

I thought it was wonderful and I so wanted to see some lifts from the US skaters.

They did all look very happy, it was cool to see. I hardly ever watch medal ceremonies but I really enjoyed this one. So glad there was a big crowd and their families were there with them.

Was also surprised at how emotional I was watching. I was delighted to see how happy Vincent was. His posts about his Olympic experience were so sad, I'm glad he has this wonderful memory to balance them out. Karen Chen is always so classy and gracious. Loved to see her take it all in. Evan was definitely tearing up, but he wasn't the only one.

I'm sorry they had to wait this long to get their medals, but this was a lovely ceremony. The crowds, the Olympic atmosphere and, best of all, they got to share it with family and friends. I was in Hartford at Gymnastics Nationals when the US team was awarded their bronze medals from Sydney. It was nice to see it, but not nearly as special as the skating ceremony.

I am thrilled for the USA and Japan! Finally - what a long wait it's been for them. I'm glad they're finally able to celebrate in a way that was taken from them two years ago.

On the flip side, my heart aches for the Canadian athletes who deserve to be up there with them.

Finally got a chance to watch, it was wonderful. Nice crowd and stunning backdrop.

Zach/Maddison and Brandon/Alexa haven’t skated together in a bit so they were out. Evan needs to save his back for actual competition as he has at least two more years to go. Japan’s pairs are youngish/competing or retired but married so easy to do. At least that’s my rationale.

Edit: And now I take the above back, Brandon did lift Alexa:

Shoma's Instagram post about not attending the ceremony today.

Translation says he decided not to attend after consultation with Coach Stephane.

The USFS website says the team will be on the NBC TikTok show right now, but my search says the daily show starts at 4:45 ET. This is my first venture into TikTok so someone more experienced please assist!

I was trying to watch on my phone on the way to work, so I may have missed it, but the only flag I saw was the US flag during the anthem. Did they show the Japanese flag at all?

Was there a photo of the two teams together? I didn’t see the two groups together before my meeting started.
