2019 Oscars Red Carpet & Ceremony - All Awards Lead To Roma

Emily Blunt is there, and Bette Midler is singing the song that Emily sang in the movie. It must be so odd for Emily. But maybe Emily prefers not to sing it on live tv?

Hated Bette’s dress.
I believe Emily Blunt opted not to perform.
Don’t blame her. Singing live is NOT the same as recording.
It wasn’t going to win, so why bother taking the risk.

Apparently, both Emily Blunt and John K decided to skip the Oscars. They're probably sore about A Quiet Place's snubs and her own snub for that film and Mary Poppins Returns.

Emily Blunt didn't want to do it. IIRC she didn't even think she could really sing until she did Into The Woods

Bette has never been the greatest singer, but she knows how to interpret and get to the heart of a song like nobody's business. :respec:

This. I just listened to Emily’s version of the song and I liked Bette’s version way better. All soul.

By the way, did anyone hear Richard E Grant mention being excited to see Barbara Streisand at the Oscars in the red carpet pre show?
Can’t find anything about it.

I saw someone talk about it on Twitter

Oh, I though I saw her in the audience earlier. If I weren't nominated, I probably wouldn't bother to go, either, even if I were invited to present. Allison Janney said she decided she would not go to the Oscars until she was nominated.

BR is 3 for 3. Considering all the controversy, and that it wasn't really all that great, I'm stunned.

Bohemian Rhapsody is going to win at least 4 out of its 5 nominations. Not bad for a movie that directed itself.

Agreed, but I've already come to terms with it. Hollywood loves the movie for making nearly a billion dollars worldwide, Queen is super popular among the populace, and even Bryan Singer is getting support as he has another job lined up and with a producer going public with his full-fledged support.

I haven't seen the movies he's won Oscars for, but I remember Mahershala Ali from the 4400. :respec: (sci-fi nerd)

Ali won back to back Oscars, right? Soon he will compete with Nicholson and Streep for the number of Oscars won.

He was very good in that movie but I have already expressed my feelings about this award. I wanted Grant to win.

Putting Bryan Singer aside, I still can't see BR winning Best Picture.

All the nominees who don't win for Best Lead Actor probably are going to think that maybe next time they should be submitted in the Best Supporting Actor category.

Not back-to-back, but close. He won two years ago for Moonlight.
