2018 NFL Season Thread

KC moves into the championship game.

Go Cowboys!

ETA. Cowboys lost. I am going to root for the Saints now. It will be tough to tough to beat the Eagles, though the Bears almost did last weekend.

Eagles are very strong when Nick Foles is their QB. He was the Super Bowl MVP. The Eagles are stupid to make him a backup QB. They can trade their starting QB and make Foles the regular starting QB.

I don’t think the Eagles can keep Foles due to the salary caps... he will cost too much.

:wuzrobbed:wuzrobbed:wuzrobbed

Oh well, the Birds did us proud this year, rebounding from a losing record mid season to even make the playoffs. And scaring the Saints after that horrible embarrassing rout earlier this season.

I fear it is Nick Foles last season in an Eagles uniform; he’s now set to make some serious coin.
But he loves us and we love him.

Now who do I root for?

I'm getting old because I feel more for the losers than I do for the winners. That poor Eagles receiver...

I don't think the catch was as easy as it looked, but it looked catchable. Poor guy :(

As a Boyz fan for over 40 years, I have to be glad the Eagles lost. I'm not, really, but ya know how the division goes. Dunno who to root for in AFC, since I'm sick of Patriot dynasty, but I have a personal animus towards Kansas City...ugh. Equally but different, I just really don't care in the NFC. So I guess whoever goes to the Bowl, I'll end up rooting NFC overall.

Nick Foles played at the U of Arizona. I wish the Cardinals would trade fir him, but they wont because they have a first round QB Rosen, who is not yet proven.

I am rooting for the Saints now. I wanted the Eagles to lose because the Cowboys lost. I want the Rams to lose because they are in the same division as the Cardinals (I know my reasoning sucks :) ). That leaves only N.O. From the NFC. I will root for K.C. From the AFC. I am sick and tired of seeing the Patriots in the Super bowl. So i hope it will be a Chiefs vs Saints Superbowl. I went to school in Kansas (before moving to Tx). That is a good reason to root for KC, although the Cowboys will always be My team overall.

Tough loss for the Eagles but congrats to Drew Brees and the Saints. Nick Foles seems like a lovely guy, telling Alshon Jeffrey he loved playing with him right after the missed pass that likely would have won them the game. Too bad the Eagles probably won’t be able to hang on to him with Wentz returning next season.

Go Rams!!!

I am not a Patriots fan (actually, I’m not really a football fan but was rooting for the Eagles) but there is a cool story of how their coach used footage of Tiz Now Winning the Breeders’ Cup Classic for the second time (only horse in history to have done that) where he snatched victory in the last seconds. They watched videos and listened to the story, and it somehow inspired them. I believe this was at the start of their so-called dynasty. Tiz Now won in 2000 and 2001. I can dig up the article if anyone is interested. It was written by Steve Haskin for the Bloodhorse.

I am rooting for Chiefs/Saints this weekend.
A lot of people are. TV/advertisers are split, though. Some think having the two smallest markets will increase interest, while others think the opposite.

Me too. I don't have a strong interest in the conference finals this year. I don't really have a team to root for. I don't want to see yet another Superbowl with New England, and I don't care for the Rams, particularly after they ditched St.Louis to go to a big market. I still plan on watching at least parts of both games.

Saints were robbed. There was a very obvious pass interference by the Rams player that was not called. This game should not be in OT. Shame on the officials.

Rams are going to the Superbowl. I am not going to watch the SB. I hate the Rams and I hate the NFL for sending the big market team to the big game.

OMG....it’s like both these teams went on silly juice during OT.

But it looks like the Rams’ special team were on. That 57 yard winning field goal by Zuerlein was beautiful! +5 GOE!!!

Sad about my Saints though. :(

I agree, Saints wuzrobbed. ?

In case anyone missed it, here’s the no call. Besides the obvious pass interference, that’s got to be an illegal helmet-helmet contact. I hope both players get 100000% checked out for concussions.

The Chiefs are very lucky that they are only down 7-0 right now. Their offensive line is so lacking right now! The Patriots’ defense is always on fire!

Meanwhile, in Atlanta.......

Make sure the volume is up, gang. This trolling is so bad it’s good. And I can’t stand the Falcons.

Also, the Rams really need to stick with the purple and yellow uniforms.

———————————

When the Patriots score again, I’m turning this off. It’s looking like a Patriots vs Rams Super Bowl. Well, I guess we’ll see what’s probably going to be Brady’s last game.

Methinks you turned it off a bit too soon. Going into OT

If the Patriots are in the Super Bowl I am definitely avoiding it. In any case I didn’t want the Rams in the SB.

I really don’t like the rule that says if the first team scores a TD, the other team doesn’t even get a chance in the OT. This rule needs to be changed. Both teams deserve to get the ball.

At least the AFC game was fair. The Rams were given a gift by the officials.

I hope the SB gets a very low rating. I think many people wanted a Saints vs Chiefs SB.

Saints were robbed. And I say as someone who lives in Los Angeles. I wanted the Rams to win it but not like that. Oh well, sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.

The Super Bowl never gets a low rating.

I'm not a Tom Brady fan, but his clutch ability is really like no other. He is truly the greatest of his era. Untouchable. As long as there's some time left in the game and he's got the ball, there's always a chance he'll win. Also, credit to Tony Romo. Dude correctly predicted like every play of the game.

Tom Brady is a truly remarkable QB and the NFL will be worse off when he retires. The difference between the truly elite quarterbacks like Brady, Manning, etc. vs. the rest of the schmoes is like comparing the top 10 pairs skaters to the rest of the field--the gulf is huge, very visible, and nigh unwatchable sometimes. Yes, he wins too much, advocates eating nothing but grass clippings (or whatever his health food snake oil nonsense is), and is a bit of a robot publicly, and I say that as someone who likes the Patriots. But I honestly think over 50% of the hate is because of his looks and the fact that he's married to a supermodel whose earnings make his NFL salary the superfluous income in the household. People hate him cuz they ain't him.

Saints blatantly robbed on that non-call. Everyone is calling it out and the NFL will admit it an error was made that cost them the win and berth to the Super Bowl. Anything for them to get two larger franchises to the SB over smaller markets. Congrats NFL. Skipping the SB this year.

Many people who don't watch football during the season go to superbowl parties. That is why a superbowl does not get a low rating. It doesn't matter who is playing. It is party time.

I actually like Tom Brady. He is the best QB ever. I kept hoping that he would not make the first down (on a 3rd and long) and he kept making it, at age 41! When he retires, it may open the door for another AFC team to go to the superbowl.

This game was rigged. That PI was so obvious, you didn't need a replay to see it. A rookie referee would have called it. It is upsetting to see bad officiating in a game of this stature. No wonder the crowd booed. The game should have been over in regulation, with the Saints winning. The NFL should be grilled over that call. What bothers me is that once a game is over, people put it behind them, and then similar things happen over and over again.

Can't say the same about the AFC game. It was Tom Brady vs the world and Brady always wins. I was not too sure about that muffed punt though. It looked like Edelman's thumb touched the ball but the Pats got the benefit of the doubt, and I think it is because they are the Pats. A small market team would have lost the possession IMO.

I don't hate him at all. I don't think other people hate him either (you are imagining things, IMO). I like him because he is a great QB. It is just that I am tired of seeing the same team in the superbowl every year. The NBA is much worse in that regard; other teams don't even have a chance in the NBA. The NFL has parity, but the Patriots somehow always come out on top and I think it is because of Brady. The NFC has a different team in the SB every year. I would like to see the AFC send a different team to the superbowl every year. I will find that interesting.

BTW I don't care how much money he makes, who he is married to, or even his good looks. It is the football he plays that makes me respect him. When he got suspended for some silly thing like air pressure in the football, I was on his side and I was rooting for him to win the SB that year (and he did).
