I think the Junior Worlds podium this year is a really talented podium, with potential for all 3 teams to make a mark as seniors (whenever they get there).
I hope this means we'll see them competing for a very long time! :D Same for Mouaden/Bigot.
You know, I've been dealing with some knee pain preventing me from running as much as I would like these days while I prep for a half marathon. I would love some of those delicious strawberries.
Glad Skate Canada is appealing, and glad they're explicitly advocating for the US and Japan to get...
I agree with this. I don't think they'll necessarily have a scandal around a single person, but I feel like at some point there's going to be something that reveals just how screwed up the system is. I hope we can get to real systemic solutions instead of USFS wringing their hands a couple times...
Yeah, I think if Hauer/Starr had placed ahead of the Peals at Nationals, they'd be on the team. But it would be hard to justify their placement this year with the limited info we had.
I agree that Sarah is one to watch over the next couple seasons. I will absolutely tune in for her jump technique even if the presentation isn't totally there yet.
Also, generally WADA does not care very much if something was an accident. Athletes are considered responsible for paying attention to and knowing what they use, take, and ingest. I think people forget that's what made the original decision to allow her to compete at the Olympics so shocking -...
At the beginning of the season I would've bet good money that Chock/Bates would go to until the 2026 Olympics. Something about their swagger skating to Another One Bites the Dust. But plans and mindsets can change, and that's okay.
I also would put Bratti/Somerville on the Worlds team after...
I'm becoming more and more in favor of getting rid of the SBS jumps in pairs entirely...so this is a step in the right direction for me. If a team can excel at all the other elements then I just don't care about the jumps.
With the caveat again that Emilea Zingas's progress has been incredible and I fully expect for her and Vadym to be at Worlds within a few years...
While we're talking about danciness vs. ice dance ability, something that struck me about Z/K's free dance at Skate Canada was how it almost felt...
Wow, I just watched the GPF, and somehow didn't realize Jason Brown made it there! He really is a special skater.
;)
I DID enjoy Ilia's ability to focus after missing the 4A. He's a competitor, no doubt, and I love that about him.
