It won't be after every group. They do it now so that there isn't an ice cut in between the final and penultimate groups.

When there are an odd number of groups, they usually do one after the first group so that the last two groups skate continuously without a resurfacing (likely for broadcast reasons).

60 is a decent score and can certainly get them into the FS. French, Dutch, Poles are all capable of worse.

Yes USA men’s hockey are excellent.

American men are very good at hockey. Team Captain Auston Matthews is an incredible player - unfortunately he plays for the always underachieving Toronto Maple Leafs.

At the Olympics you get a lot of non-skating fans who are just there for the experience. Even fans from countries that have no athletes competing at that session will bring along their flags and wave them.
