Marsak skating like he's overly aware of where he is--how did I get to the penultimate group? He seems a lot more unsure and awkward than yesterday (?). Ended stronger than it began. He's so long. I don't know how tall he is, but he skates looooong. Like a puppy with oversized feet. How old is he--he looks so much like my students who have no idea what to do with this new, taller body they've suddenly found themselves in after Christmas break.

Memola's hysterical. On The Runthrough, he was trying to get Ashley to start drama at Worlds. If he doesn't get the spot, and I don't think he will, I wonder if Italy would send him just to snark at the skaters. He would make a really epic poster on FSU. And my pervy old mother thinks he's really hot. I told her if she goes to Italy and commits crime, he might arrest her. She now has A Goal.

Considering his injuries, Memola wanting to go clean and watering down the content is smart. Might not get him to the Olympics, but better for his health. His presentation is better when he isn't going to all the tough jumps too. Those spins were... not great through.

There are plenty (Volvo, Challenge Cup coming up soon, I think all the way to the Sonja Henie Trophy a few weeks before Worlds, maybe even some smaller ones after that).

Deadline for CTES minimums for ISU Championships is 4 weeks from the first day of the event - it changed last season, previously it had been 3 weeks.

There are not many internationals scheduled for February during the Olympics. Here's what we have left - January in purple; February in green

Did Chris mention if the arena is sold out today? Those audience shots make it look like the place is pretty much full. How wonderful for the sport of figure skating.

He mentioned yesterday that the lower bowl was full and the capacity for that was about 6k. It does look very full today, which is great, and with some folks in the upper bowl as well. I'm guessing the ice dance later will have the largest crowd.
