The Dance Hall 13: When You Dance on the Ice and Your Feet Twizzle Twice, That's Amore

True, but there's a difference between being a bartender and Olympic champion, no offense.

I'll be real -- I think Cizeron is skeezy and pretentious and a shallow gay -- and will take any opportunity to hate on him.
I don’t think it was even that risqué though and people are just complaining because, to your second point. Even when Alcaraz, as the literal top tennis player in the world, did his CK underwear shoot I was very 🤷🏼‍♂️

26 and 27th August.
Curious thing is that the Italian Fed page for the event (Gara pre Qualificazione Olimpica) still lists only 1 entry so far

6 entries in the end

Tali/Lafornara
Manni/Rothliesberger
Dozzi/Papetti
Argentieri/Riva
Paolino/Tuba
Finelli/Bucciarelli

Selection rules.
The couple that will take part in the Olympic qualification will be designated by the Technical Committee after evaluating their state of preparation and competition programs, and after taking part in the competition on August 26-27, 2025. The couple that participates in the qualification, should they succeed in qualifying the second spot for Italy, will NOT automatically acquire the right to participate in the 2026 Olympics. For participation in the Olympics, the ranking calculation and the relevant regulations will remain valid.

Just gor the news that Orihara won't get the Finnish citizenship before the Olys.💔💔💔💔😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Ah, I'm sorry to hear this. I have hope of seeing them at the Olympics in four more years, but they've obviously worked really hard to earn that berth; plus it is a loss to the sport & its ability to build an audience that one of the most entertaining teams in the field won't be there.

Damn, I was happy when the FINs managed to get two spots to the Olympics, I was really hoping they would somehow make it 😔

Does Finalnad have another eligible team to send in that 2nd spot, or will the spot be up for grabs?
ETA: the article mentions Daniela Ivanitskiy and Matthew Sperry, but they don't have minimums or citizenship, it seems

No, we don't. So someone will be happy.
I am so sorry for Yuka and Juho, they are auch a lovely persons. But they will rock da house at home Worlds in 2027.

They sure will! They will be missed at the Olympics.

Going back to the spots, I tried to find how it works now - assuming Finland "returns" the spot before the qualification event - will 5 spots be earned there? Will it go to the team who would have gotten the spot at Worlds (Harris/Chen)? And if they return it after the qualification event, will it go to the team that finished 5th? I wasn't able to find the answer just yet.

If the spot is turned in before the qualifier, an extra country will get the spot. If the spot is turned in after the qualifier, it will go to to the first country from the qualifier that missed the cut there.

Worlds 2025 results are ignored: they only determined the number of outright guaranteed spots and which countries have an opportunity to compete for another at the qualifier. Harris/Chan either earn a spot through the qualifier (right away or after spots are turned in) or they don’t go.

Interesting... So, the article has been updated & apparently the Finnish fed has stated they are NOT relinquishing the 2nd spot right now.

Maybe they're hoping there will be a miracle after all? Ivanitskiy/Sperry certainly won't be eligible - he's not a citizen & they train in Michigan. I don't think any of their junior teams could qualify - citizenship issues or too young & probably none could get the CTES.

Apparently the Finnish Fed has clarified they wan`t to wait after Yukas language test to see if they can do something. There is no other team to take the spot. Most likely the result will be as anticipated - there are slim chances, but I respect that they won`t give up the spot yet. The 5th team in Beijing will have to wait and see, but if her language test is scheduled in October, hopefully they will sort out it before Christmas. Sooner if she doesn`t pass the test. Finnish is a hard language so the test is probably not easy.

Finnish is a hard language for other Westeners because it’s not related to any of the major Western languages. (Only Hungarian.)

But for a Japanese woman having to master a non-tonal language in the Roman alphabet, would it be any harder than German or French or English? I don’t know, just asking. @Finnice?

I think Finnish pronouciation is relatively easy for a Japanese, because the words are pronounced the same way than they are written, and we have even homonymes in both languages. But the grammar is totally different. It it learnable, maybe a bit more difficult than other indoeuropean languages
I think Yuka is a very smart young woman and Juho ia a polyglot, so thay learn from each other.

I'm still waiting for insight on if Carolane is even being considered for Irish citizenship on an Olympic timetable, tbh.

Unless she's discovered a sekret Irish grandparent within the last year it's a no go. The only other path to citizenship would be through residency on the island of Ireland (no exceptional pathways for athletes a la Spain).

I'm a bit curious as to why they are even traveling to Beijing if they don't have Olympic aspirations? They've gotten their programs out before international panels already this year for feedback. Seems like a long and costly bit of travel if it's all for naught.

I was wondering about that too. It would be great if Carolane could get citizenship in time, but last I heard there was no chance of that.

Why do they get trolled after the rhythm dance? I haven’t watched that yet.
Gonna say it again.
Because that's what big fat troll are supposed to do. That Youtube account (NEFERTITI100) is a plague and has been for a long time.
It attacks (mainly) female skaters (mostly ice dancers, mostly french) and coaches under videos of their programs on Youtube.
Last season, it was Loicia Demougeot under all the videos of D/LM programs. She was supposed to be fat, to wear a dress in the RD because her jumpsuit was so ugly, to have mental health issues and health problem. And every answer aggravated what the account was saying, up to "my comments are for Loicia's own good, you aggressive people".
This week end, it attacked Dania Mouaden, Lou Koch, and pair skaters Romane Télémaque and Lucas Coulon on Youtube, prompting their coaches and families' intervention.
It's the same account (which appears under a different name -GENGIS KHAN- in the ISU live feed) that insults people in many ice dance competitions in the ISU Youtube live chat, saying a french dance team (not Villard and now, I can say not Chalons) has been stolen and that all the other ice dancers are fat and underserving, distributing many "SHUT UP", "ils sont tellement BAD" to everyone who participate to the live chat.
That person also posted on Youtube for a time under the name DHARMA and spent 2016-2018 attacking videos of Tessa Virtue/Scott Moir (until the account was shut down), saying exactly what she said about Loicia, but in a very vulgar and and very agressive way. And many even here were talking about the batshit crazy fan(s) of Papadakis/Cizeron, while it was mainly that troll stirring shit.

My personal take is that this outraging account is acting as a troll on the outside but is actually a doppelganger on the inside.
I think it should seriously be dealt with by the FFSG, the families, the ISU because it will not stop after this week-end. It's not an isolated incident. And if you project that kind of things over the potential career length of those kids, that's a lot of sh*t ahead for a very long time.
I actually tried a little something last season just before the GP France, to see if a little heat would make the troll back down. I checked the ice dance ISU live feed and Villard's videos afterwards. AFAIK, the ISU youtube live chats became troll-free and the comments on the videos were rarer and milder, but that might be coincidental at least for the live chat (time zones and all). And now it's all back again. There is only so much a random can do.

That troll has been attacking also non-french ice dancers frequently, calling all of them undeserving of high placements/winning, as you said, "criticizing" their skills, programs, music, costumes, looks and even personal traits really exaggeratedly and in a rude manner.

THANK YOU !!!
I knew it would ring someone's bells. I remember seeing such comments but I can't remember when and which couple (I tend to remember crisis/intense problems more than the negative but "average" -for that account- comment). Plus I don't check that many videos.

If you happen to remember which video/which dancers, I'm interested in giving it a look (via MP maybe).

Many more unmentionables are significantly shallower and more pretentious. We may not like his politics, but when you see him skate, you can't help but believe that he has a point of view, depth, and a story. My humble recommendation is to keep the off-ice and on-ice as separate as possible.
