Chinese skating news & social media updates pt. 5, 2023 onwards

Wang/Liu won the comp, but I'm seeing comments indicating they were just bad. Fingers crossed they won't qualify a spot for Milan.

He fell on the DiSt but still won FD by almost 10 point. So I'd say CFSA will probably still boost them.
The Beijing qualifier will have international judges. CFSA has zero power in ID.

My favorite comment on huahua's post is calling them ‘冰水’

JGP selctions for junior pairs concluded with no surprises (there were a couple of new entries that eventually withdrew), so the same four junior pairs are expected to get 2 JGPs each.

Zhang/Feng
Guo/Zhang
Chen/Dong*
Hu/Wang*

*New team debuting this season

Very excited for Guo/Zhang to finally make their JGP debut, they had a pretty good SP at the Beijing stage:

Zhang/Feng appears to be struggling with some injuries and not hitting their levels on lifts, which is concerning as there's less than 2 weeks before JGP Riga.

Too many to post, but if anyone's interested, this channel has them all (or so it seems anyway).

W/L FD: https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1LAtyzTE86/ (If they skate like this, they'd be lucky to cross 150 internationally IMO)

Peng Zhiming is the third entry for China at CoC men's 2025.

ETA: OK, never mind, seems unofficial still? But huahua said it for w/e it's worth.

@Karen-W Wang/Liu 191 total lol. People dragging them to hell and beyond.

woah! what a firecracker that little one is! i hope that everyone is being super nice to her and she is being well cared for and respected and that she is happy.

Holy crap!

And just like that, Sui/Han's comeback is over.

ETA - looks like the post was deleted but it said that Sui/Han have announced on Weibo that they are withdrawing from all events this season as Han Cong is not recovered enough to compete.
No they haven't announced anything on Weibo. The original post is from Russian source...

Unless I'm mistaken, this is the person who used to post Russian rumours before on twitter?

ETA: It's all getting cross-posted now  FWIW, I can no longer see the original xhs post either. Let's just drop it.
Well, some others on X are saying that Maya Bagrantseva (sp?) has confirmed on her Telegram that she's also heard from her own sources that the rumors are true. Time will tell, but Maya is a legitimate reporter with excellent sources, so I'm inclined to think it's true even if we haven't seen any confirmation of it from Sui/Han or the CFSA.

Maya’s Telegram post doesn’t really sound like a confirmation to me, she hasn’t even personally seen the statement, if it exists at all. I’ve combed through Weibo a few times now and there is no statement beyond Han Cong’s original retirement post from 2 years ago, and more notably, no fan discussion or speculation surrounding this topic either in the past few hours this rumor has existed. Maya’s post courtesy of Google Translate:
Looks like we have a cancellation of the comeback.

The greenhouses of Wenqing Sui and Tsong Han (Olympic champions of Beijing-22) seem to have changed their minds to return and go to the Olympic season.

They refer to the fact that the partner's health does not allow to properly recover and prepare for the competition.

Announced in the Chinese social network Weibo, but until I personally see the statement, I won't believe it. I don't want to believe it.

But if so, the shares of all other contenders for the pedestal in Milan-2026 have grown rapidly.

If anyone who speaks Russian wants to confirm, here is the link to her Telegram: https://t.me/s/skatingoutloud

It would be the most ridiculous thing ever, if they have a circular misinfo thing

There's indeed been no 'statement' on weibo. And no speculation recently - the old stuff was about the forced split despite Han not being healthy. But nothing recent.

I'll repeat that the XHS post I'd seen - citing a Russian source about it to begin - is now deleted.

Yeah, at this point I think it’s just circular misinformation. It’s making the rounds everywhere despite there being absolutely no linked source anywhere 😬
