I just looked up the summary for Two Distant Strangers and I think I'm going to have to check it out. I love a time loop movie/tv show episode.

Well, at least they still get to do their speech.

It looks like the offsites are in specific places (London, Paris, Rome) and the nominees at each city are at one place.

One winner off-site received a statuette. Not sure if there are Academy peeps handing out statuettes to other places off-site but if there’s a camera on them, then I’m sure there is.

Every time I see a commercial or trailer for Sound of Metal I get really disappointed that even if this had been a normal year for movie releases I still wouldn't have had the chance to see it in theatre because it probably wouldn't have made it up here.

Agreed, it's very odd seeing the show move this fast.

Golden globes vibe with smallish room and crowd. The hairstyle on the first short animated short film nominee on the left! Weir-worthy. Would rather see clips than bio info on nominees. Odd approach.

I'm really enjoying the announcer lady. She sounds like she's having a good time.

One lesson, ALWAYS include clips and pictures from the nominees. This lower key ceremony would have been a great opportunity to educate the viewing public what the categories are rewarding and what the nominated films are actually about and what they look and sound like.

Completely agree. I don't see the point of the remake unless they would do something really different with it. The trailer just looks like a really standard version of West Side Story.

It’s a passion project for Spielberg and Tony Kushner and it’s a way to do a new film with the Sharks being all played by Latinx actors. I don’t mind this remake because I view it like a revival and I hope they put “Somewhere” back in the way it was staged in the actual stage musical where it had a dream ballet and was sung by Anybodys. They may also have the Sharks speak more Spanish and sing a bit in Spanish.

They are definitely doing something different. There have been a lot of articles about it. It's going to be grittier for one.
