Maybe I was just a more casual fan than I realized back then! I don't remember ever knowing about junior worlds results back in the day, or much about non-American skaters that didn't make it to Worlds. But I agree, it's nothing new that the transition from juniors is a tough one.

I have no idea when/if Junior Worlds was on TV regularly, but I definitely remember it from the late 90s. Obertas/Palamarchuk,Savchenko/Morozov, Maxiuta/Zhovnirsky, etc. I've always been a Russian pairs uber (and Ukrainian, RIP 90s Ukraine), so those are my clearest memories. I also remember when Derrick Delmore won. That's how I know that I'm getting old. I remember coaches when they were juniors.

I have no issues with Nugu's scores due to her UR problem, but in what universe does Gulyakova have better PCS than Gubanova? 1.1 point difference between them for first place. They scored her higher in every PCS category by a fraction of a point here and there! Stupid judges.
