OMG will it never end? Harry and Meghan have a new monogram that apparently is of course all about Diana, because it's blue. That's right, her favourite colour, such a revolutionary choice for royalty, blue.

Have a look for yourself at the combined symbol, and here's a look at William's and Harry's together.

And I've read the it's blue and that the crown has fleur-de-lis in reference to Kappa Kappa Gamma, Meghan's sorority.

People are clearly overthinking this, because both William's and Harry's individual symbols have the exact same crown, so nothing to do with Meghan. And really, her college sorority has any bearing on the Royal Family? Fleur-de-lis are a very common symbol used in many ways by many entities, including centuries of use by the British Royal Family.

I've actually read that on a Greek forum, but yeah, I know it's not true. Like you said, people are overthinking. All this - overthinking/speculation/bringing up Diana etc -- pure click bait.

No the crown (coronet, actually-only monarchs have crowns) has fleur-de-lis because that is the designated coronet for the children of the heir apparent- a cross pate in front (and back), and alternating fleurs-di-lis and strawberry leaves around the rim. When Charles becomes king- the coronets will change for William and Harry (and spouses), and become alternating crosses and fleur-di-lis (no strawberry leaves), as they will be children of the monarch, not the heir.

Yes, Tony Blair was the Prime Minister when Diana died in 1997. I couldn't remember his name or I would have directly named him in my earlier post when I pointed out that the PM spoke of Diana being 'The People's Princess.' The statement Blair gave in the immediate aftermath of Diana's death was genius and heartfelt. It went a long way toward comforting people who were distressed and anguished throughout the country and the Commonwealth. People can look back on that time and cast aspersions for all of the emotion that people felt. However, the emotion was genuinely felt and deeply anguished. That's because Diana touched people's hearts. She simply did. Yes she had faults and she made mistakes.

One of the moments that was replayed on Canadian TV after her death was a speech in which she something like "Yes, you can hug a person with AIDS".

It was gestures like that which made her so beloved.

Also, there was the misery she endured being married far to young and for far too long to a man who would never love her, and subsequently becoming bulimic. That made her human.

It wasn't black, it was a navy bodice & an olive green, pink, & white skirt. I loved it & it fit very well. Even the fascinator was navy & the feather was either navy or black - hard to tell. I think the shoes were black. What was wrong with them?

I think you'd grasp at any straw in order to criticize her. If you hate her so much then why click on photos of her?

and the shoes complete the outfit. Perfection from head to toe! Harry looks so handsome!

I quite liked the dress - it was certainly a much better choice than the outfit she wore the last wedding she went to as a guest (the article got that wrong stating this was the first time Harry and Meghan had attended a wedding since their own!!!). The sheer panels in the skirt of the dress helped to break up the darkness of the navy and suited her. This and the last dress she wore to the polo match have been much better choices - the V neck is a much better neckline for her - framing her lovely neck. She - and Harry - who looked very dapper - looked relaxed and happy.

Women aren't supposed to wear black or white (or bright red or gold).

It all looked black to me......but I am still trying to figure out if KO SP dress was black or blue.

No matter the color I'm not wild about the inserts in the skirt.

Here in the NYC area, you would be hard pressed to find a wedding where half of the female guests are not wearing black (or red for that matter which someone said is also a nono). One never wears all white to a wedding because it is considered to be trying to upstage the bride.

I think Meghan's look is fantastic, one of her best since her marriage. And perfectly appropriate in all ways for the event she is attending. And more importantly, she looks happy and relaxed, despite what her father has thrown at her in recent days, and at ease with Harry's friends.

Not really, actually. The shoes you describe are generally cheap. CMF Shoes are generaly quite expensive and send a message. I have no idea what you mean by slut shaming.
The times I have seen them and heard them referenced noted a strong and self assured woman wearing expensive shoes that were meant to send a sexy message.

I disagree, as others have.

I went to a wedding last summer and wore an all-black lacy floor length dress. It was the only non-casual thing I had that fit.

The color was not problem, although the dress was a bit more fancy than necessary.

I am sure you looked lovely.

I suspect people are not barred at the door for wearing an inappropriate color.
My understanding is that one does not wear black because it is the color of mourning (and hopefully all are celebrating at the wedding) and on does not wear white because that is the one does not upstage the bride.

But, hey, what do I know. My grandmother would not allow my mother to wear her white patent leather on a play date on set with Shirley Temple (My uncle directed many of her pictures) because it was not yet Memorial Day. And don't ya know Shirley was wearing white patent leather.

Dress customs change, obviously. I still think the white and black at a wedding holds merit.
