UPDATED/CONFIRMED: Evgenia Medvedeva leaving Tutberidze for Orser

there must have been someone within the Russian fed who suggested Orser to Janny. It seems unlikely to me that she would have reached out to him herself. It’d be interesting to know who that was.

Calm down. I believe Eteri deserves a "good bye" from her famous student. That is great Zhenya went to holiday calmly and she left Eteri with this whole stuff . She didn't reply to Eteri for a half month.. Do you think this is great? Why do you think Etery was lying? We don't know..And it seems Zhenya follows on Internet what is happening and he has mood to laugh at Eteri's anger. Don't get me wrong I likes Evgenia but maybe in this matter she is not flawless. Can you imagine you are Eteri? What does she feel? She worked with Zhenya for 11 year....She helped her in everything..She was her "pet" etc..
 
Why would Evgenia have a duty to reply to Tutberidze while she is on holiday? Whole two weeks she didn’t reply! Shoot her! I am not answering messages or calls from my employer either when I am on holiday. Its my time so I can’t see why should I have to.

Lol Medvedeva is an 18 year old girl. Flawless? It's not the point. Eteri is an adult. She should know better than preemptively trash someone young enough to be her daughter on TV. The end.

It doesn’t seem unlikely to me that Medvedeva would reach out to Orser. She has spoken several times about how much she admires & respects Hanyu and considers him basically the ultimate in men’s skating. So I’m not surprised that she would want to train with Hanyu’s coach and Hanyu himself.

I would be surprised if someone from the Russian fed contacted Orser. It’s not common in recent years that Russian skaters train abroad. Although it does happen from time to time.
 
I wonder what Zagitova and Panenkova think about Tutberidze’s behaviour. The younger girls at this stage probably can’t imagine that one day they would want to leave Tutberidze so in their view Medvedeva is probably the one who is foolish. But Zagitova surely must understand that now for a year or max two she will be the golden girl, but as soon as she will want to leave, she will be also made to be the unreasonable girl, who said this and that, and who has an immature relationship with her mother/grandmother etc. And Panenkova is probably in even worse situation, because even if she is allowed to move to seniors this coming season, a season later she will be replaced by one of the four girls (Trusova, Kostornaya, Tarakanova and Scherbakova). They all can do more than she can and have been beating her this past season. It seems that the best escape from Tutberidze is the way Sakhanovich did it - missing her family so much that she needs to move back to them.

That’s because you’re assuming his current situation isn’t messy at times. Incorrect.

Brian is a professional coach and he and his team create an environment conducive to skaters becoming the best version of themselves. Evgenia meets his basic requirements and he doesn’t have to worry about crazy mom, not that Russian feds are easier lol.

I’m looking forward to watching him influence her to be better. Also, remember, if anyone knows her disappointment, he does. He probably relates to her on a level
 
Well well well. If Medvedeva decides to focus and work hard to essentially start over as a true Senior Lady with Orser, et al, she has a chance to work with a man who had one of the best 3 lutzes and 3 axels of any male skater of his time. Brian also did perform quad toe loop in practice.

Medvedeva has bad technique in her flip and lutz, muscling the jumps and torqueing her body in such a way as to cause stress fractures in the foot - and she never learned the proper counter-body technique for her lutz. Orser can fix this. Medvedeva has poor axel technique. Orser and she can fix this. She would have to commit to fixing what she has now, then adding difficulty. She also can see if the age for Senior increases and the effects this may have.

Medvedeva can also work with new choreographers and develop a more mature, worldly, genuine style to her skating. I suggest the first year a completely lyrical piece with no acting, posing or Eteri-group choreography. Keep your difficulty, improve it and give the world your own lyrical style - mature. She can win again.

But, she must agree to essentially start new with all her experiences used to her advantage in the new endeavor. Time for her to grow up completely. I am rooting for her!

Yeah, I can see how Medvedeva needs to start over as a true senior lady. So the past three years in seniors don’t count? She didn’t earn two gold medals at worlds and two silver medals at Olympics as a senior lady? Or was that a false senior lady and now she will be the true senior lady, or how are we supposed to interpret that statement?

Her technique is just as bad as most ladies out there. Osmond has huge jumps but take off from full-blade and also has a flutz.
 
I think, based on Eteri's reactions to Alina's scores at the Olympics, Eteri knew at the time that Evgenia would have a big issue with it or potentially leave because of it. Which means that Evgenia or her parents must have made their views known before. Eteri really bent over backwards post Olympics to downplay Alina's gold medal and try to assuage Evgenia's feelings (sometimes at the expense of Alina's feelings IMO). But that was not enough apparently.

In many European countries the 18.y.o persons are adult, they allowed to vote, etc. Zhenya is a smart woman already she can speak english very well, she can give very smart interviews. And it seems she could plan this very smartly thus I don't believe Zhenya is not smart enough to understand if she says " good bye, I move on because I have no chance to win against the juniors . I need to develop the new side of my skating. " it would have been more fair. And that is the minimum she replies her coach's call. That's all.

Eteri is not my favorite but what is her flaw? She wasn' happy because her student made a secret plan? Because Eteri feels she was hurt? Because she feels she is betrayed? I wish everybody that this whole story would happen with them. No one would be so understanding.

Otherwise I like Zhenya and I will like her, I will like her skating, etc. But this wasn't classy from her. The end.

Are you sure Eteri does not know anything about Med changing coach? Remember some big names in Russian fed already stated: "Everyone knew for a long time that Med would leave."
The denial is strong with you.

Here’s the point: the head of Sambo-70 knew about the change (he was the first one, who officially admitted it in press), that the club is trying to make piece between Evgenia and Eteri and etc.. and two days after that Eteri says that she found out about the change only from the news on tv ...
Also, first gossips appeared after all Evgenia’s pics and interviews were deleted from the official Tutberidze group on vk.com a week or so ago.
There’s no way, Eteri didn’t know about the coaching change.

Kudos to Evgenia for being nothing but complimentary in her statement. I'm sure there's a bit of shade she'd like to throw but at least she's keeping it classy in the media. Next to Eteri's pouty comments Evgenia is looking more like the adult here.

I'm happy she's still competing for Russia (IDK how that "she's competing for Armenia!" rumor came about) and that she'll be training with Brian. Brian has a lot of experience when it comes to coaching top skaters and I think that will work out really well for Evgenia. I'm actually really excited to see what kind of skater she will be under a different coach.

I'm sure he can work with her on her lutz (his students have pretty great ones) and I'd love to see what he and his team come up with for her programs. The Canadian choreographers really are some of the best so it will be cool to see what they'll do with her. I think Evgenia would be a dream for any choreographer to work with. She commits SO much to her choreography, the emotion of the music and the character...it's one of the things I've always admired about her. I can't wait to see her in different hands.

I've always liked and respected Evgenia quite a bit...but I feel like I might end up loving her next season.

for sure...If she asked Brian for advice on handling the situation I am sure he would have told her to keep her head high..not engage in any way...and get to Canada asap where Crickett is a sanctuary city - no one gets in the gate and insiders seem to have a pact to protect all the skaters from any information going out about them.

I think that was a very classy statement, especially considering the dumpster fire that Eteri started. It reminds me of Daenerys Targaryen's double-edged compliment, "Thank you for teaching me this lesson."
